  1. I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
  2. I thought that too, but thought maybe I was overlooking something.
  3. Does anyone want a Monogram classic patch from the Typhoon kit? If so, email me through my profile. Stacey
  4. Rusty, thanks for the photo tip. And to be honest, I didn't think about using a toothpick to attach broken parts (of which I had at least one). Now the important task: store the carving set somewhere I'll remember in twelve months time.
  5. Man, those are great! What do you use to provide the lighting inside the pumpkin? I just used a small candle. Stacey
  6. Actually, Rex, that is the correct way to get the first number - it is the diameter of the cap. The second has to do with threading, but I'm not sure exactly what it represents. If the 1/2 oz jars and the smaller jars use the same threads, then 24-400 would be right.
  7. Thanks for the compliment, Holmes, but they weren't my designs - I got them from the collection that came with the carving kit. Stacey
  8. Far and away the best two jack o' lanterns I've ever carved. Not that they're great, but better than any I've done in the past. You can guess how good my models come out. :D Sorry for the blurriness, but I was too lazy to get out the tripod. I bought a pumpkin gutter (yes, there is such a thing) and a carving set, both of which helped immensely. The carving set came with some patterns. Here's what the pumpkin gutter looks like. You put it in a power drill (even more fun).

Thanks. I picked up a couple of bottles of the new formula, but haven't looked inside yet. Stacey

Just out of curiosity, how do you get the Citadel paint into the airbrush cup? I find it is very thick from the container. With other brands, such as Tamiya and Model Master, I can use a pipette to get the paint out, but the Citadel seems too thick for that. Stacey
  11. November is Movember, with the moustaches, to draw attention to men's health issues, although it doesn't get the attention breast cancer does.

    Excellent finish! Stacey
  13. I picked up an AMT/ERTL P-40K (the decals say kit 8794-9630) at a model show today. It wasn't until I got home that I realized that it had no instructions, so I've got a couple of questions. 1. A little research on the web seems to indicate that the P-40K is just the P-40E kit with a new tail. (My kit does have a second tail, in styrene rather than resin.) Is this true? I've got a P-40E kit with instructions, so if that is the case, I don't need the instructions for assembly. 2. I can pretty much figure out the decal placement from the box art and photos. What are the colors? The camou
  14. They aren't going out of business - they're selling through Amazon marketplace and half.com (and probably other sites as well), and thereby reaching a much larger market than they would otherwise. Granted, as a consumer, you can't physically peruse the books, but the number of titles available has increased dramatically.
  15. Although no one said it explicitly, we all missed these forums, and appreciate all the hard work you put into them, and into ARC generally. Stacey
  16. So I guess the answer to my question is "yes", several people had seen one. :D
  17. Every year, there is a classic car show about half a mile from my house. I went this year, and saw this: a 1961 Messerschmitt. Anyone else seen anything like it? I thought it was kind of cool. They had a lot of beautiful cars - more than I was expecting. Stacey
  18. I picked up this kit at the last swap meet I attended just for that reason. Stacey
  19. I don't know if I'd say zero bite. I've used them on cockpits and landing gear bays (where I won't be masking) without any problem. Stacey
  20. Although I've never ordered from Small Parts, I knew they had been purchased by Amazon. Thanks for the tip about Component Supply. Stacey
  21. Start at about 15 psi and then play around. You might also need to thin your paint a bit more. You'd be surprised how much you can thin modern model paint and still get a good finish. You can thin Model Master enamel 50:50, possibly more. Stacey
  22. I have not tried this yet, since I just read about it, but Jon Bius at agapemodels.com suggested using a coffee filter. Here is the article. Stacey
