  1. Yes Los Al, use to race horses at Los Alamitos back in the 80's. Hit the pick six one night, and in a stuper (not drunk, don't drink)claimed a horse with the money we won. Trotter's and Pacers. It was a great 3 year run. Learned a lot and will forever fondly remember those days. Live in the IE since those days, Chino, Pomona, Rancho now currently in Rialto. Saving up and will move back to Rancho just love that town. Your about an hour in the OC away from me on a good day when the freeways are just that. Up late too, no work tomorrow. Enjoy your 4th Dave, got the dogs, steaks, burgers an
  2. Will first start with the Tamiya kit, will modify the TD cockpit set, Experts Choice decal set #48-29, the boys from S. Carolina, in Euro 1 scheme, ordnance from a couple of Hase weapons set, Wolfpack DRA AIM-9 launch rails and CE Black Magic mask. Have read several reviews of the shortcomings of this kit. But still build to an impressive model once the mods are made to bring it up to date. (At least what an A-10 was in 1991). Happy 4th. More forthcoming, hopefully some images tomorrow as we get this started. Chuck Fly Navy
  3. Today a little cockpit work, first using MM acrylic interior green. Being that the plastic AMT uses is quite soft, it was easy removing the interior details to prepare for the resin cockpit. The nose wheel bay will be painted in GSB before the fuselage is assembled, even though I already ran a wash when it dawned on me that it will not remain Interior Green. Cutting Edge's cockpit floor, a quick test fit so far shows this may be a drop in without any major trimming to fit. Crossing eyes and fingers. This will be it for now, more to follow. Tomorrow a day off to enjoy the fo
  4. Though the Grumman GB also started yesterday as well, I will do a Revelogram A-10, using the Shull engine and closed deceleron's been wanting to use this set. Will use the Legends cockpit set as well. Will build this as an OIF or Enduring Freedom bird, just need to find decals, otherwise I have almost everything else to get started. Also will build a Tamiya A-10 as a Desert Storm Euro 1 scheme, have the the DRA launch rails for both kits, will modify and use the TD cockpit set. Will be looking for the Shull Laste update set for the Monogram kit in the meantime as well. Both kits in 48th sc
  5. The kit, decals and bits to update this long term project. Usually a project that requires modifications to the original kit will normally take me a couple of years. So let see if I can just dedicate my time into this and get it done in 6 months. The kit: The decals: Aeromaster #48-311, Tigercat Night Prowlers Pt 1 Detail bits/upgrades: TD wheel set 48091, Cutting Edge, Nose strut (the nose will be loaded) CE, 3N cockpit set and CE, Black Magic mask set. Cutting Edge Wing Fold set: Do not have the props, so I will use the kits incorrect ones. Most
  6. I will start with Amt's 1/48, Grumman F7F-3N Tigercat, USMC Korean war. Chuck Fly Navy
  7. Count me in for at least one project. AMT's Grumman F7F-3N Tigercat, with CE's update set, folding wing set and Aeromaster decals in 48th scale. First GB to participate on this year. Chuck Fly Navy
  8. Mike, that video, the story, the history, and the bravery of those recon pilots. Alone unarmed and so humble. They knew their job, did it without fail, thank God for those men who did those missions. That moment when he realizes that is the video he has never seen before but was aware of its existence and to finally see it after all those years is a Life Moment. And he is still sharp filling in the blanks of those individual achievements that took place during WWII. Thanks for sharing that Mike. I really enjoyed it. Chuck Fly Navy
  9. Any set of decals for the Monogram A-10, during the Enduring or Iraqi Freedom era operating out of any of the Air Bases during those conflicts. Grey A/C Laste Aircraft and if all possible the Shawn Hull update set. Chuck Fly Navy
  10. Excellent so far Paolo, and you are right in not using any AM for the cockpit, it builds very nicely right out of the kit. Built one about 10 years ago, and the only issue I remember was one of the dive brakes was a little warped, otherwise a little fiddly but patience which I can see you have. I used the kit decals also. Looking forward to rest of this project. Chuck Fly Navy

  12. SUPERB!! Can't really add to what has been already said about this Epic project of yours. Other than I did take a lot of notes, though a new kit is on the horizon, until then I have the Esci kit now and have slowly gathered the upgrades for it. Your kindness to take the time and answer questions on your build really was one of the highlights of it. Those questions were the same ones I had. For the love aviation all aspects I love my Navalair from WWII to present, yet, The Viggen is quite the jet, a piece of Swedish history. Again, SUBERB and Bravo Chuck Fly Navy
  13. Kits World have a sheet of a P-38E/F #148073. Only one I have been able to find. I have been looking and so far this is it. I have the Academy P-38E kit also. Not ready to build it yet but been keeping any eye for some decals. My link There is one on Ebay. Chuck Fly Navy
  14. Thanks Jari, a very well detailed and documented report. Thanks for sharing that. I have so much to say but I won't in regard to the awful circumstances on the operational use of the A-26A. I will leave it at that. Chuck Fly Navy
  15. That is a great image. Definitely a Kodak moment.
  16. Oh yeah me too. Missed those afternoon shows while working on a model. Fond memories. Thanks for mentioning that Gregg. RIP Mr Harryhausen, you had a wonderful life and made many people enjoy those movies. Chuck Fly Navy
  17. You know it is all we have for now on the A/B-26 Invader, as I mentioned before, when someone asked about building a Counter Invader and what kit was available, by building one using the Paragon set a few years ago what else is there? So it is off the mark if built out of the box, but modifying to my ability I was able to get what looks to me as a B-26K. Built this well before the internet is what it is now. Of course I have no problem with some criticism of any kit as some have the eye to notice any discrepancies. I for one do not, I just don't look for them. Some can be obvious on

Thanks for the link Don, I was able to salvage the blades so I'm good there. But the wheels is an excellent lead. Chuck Fly Navy

    1/48 A-26K

After a good nights sleep it dawned on me you are in Ohio, so you may find your way to the USAF museum I believe there is a Counter Invader there to look at. There is one at the Pima Air Museum in not to far away from me Tucson Az. Saw all the mods on the real thing that my model did not have. I will build another one some day. Only thing is finding the correct wheels from Cutting Edge on Ebay. Unfortunately, my Invader did fall and broke beyond repair by the hands of someone not being careful. I saved all the pieces to rebuild it from scratch. Using a new kit. Got the kit, most of the

    1/48 A-26K

My experience with making a replica of the B-26K Counter Invader, is to start with the B-26C kit. Since this is all we have for now. Kit #5508, the glass nose version. Reason being the B-26B gun nose is harder to convert, being that it has the lower rear turret to fill. The glass nose version has this already deleted. Now I had the Paragon B-26K conversion set which includes, wing tanks, pylons, corrected blades, engine cowls and intakes, co-pilot seat and yoke, rudder, and tail vortex generators, the upper turret blanking plate and antenna's. Lacking are the correct wheels that are not
  22. I'm on season 4, watching on Netflix. Still fun to watch, switching between that and Dallas. Great shows. Chuck Fly Navy
  23. Sorry to say that the canopy or clear parts are MIA for the F-84 kit I have here. Chuck
  24. Found the remnants of the F-84 kit I have, the nose strut is MIA. So no help.
