  1. So your line of complaint concerning the Iowa can be distilled down to "those darned liberals"? Why should the O'Brien and Pampanito move to make room for the Iowa? Aren't they important enough in their own right? And if there are piers for them to relocate, why can't the Iowa be placed at one of those?
  2. Here is your prior topic on the subject. In summary: good luck, considering there are serious differences between the two vehicles, despite their superficial resemblance.
  3. So where would the Jeremiah O'brien and Pampanito relocate? Why does San Francisco have to have the Iowa when there are plenty of other harbors that could take her? For that matter, do we have an obligation to preserve every decommissioned US Navy warship? There is only so much berthing space, and as has been mentioned, it's not cheap to maintain a museum ship. And what does the end of DADT have to do with anything?
  4. This is a rick-roll prank, for anyone interested.
  5. The dorsal spine is badly misshapen, particularly how the nacelles blend into it. The inlets and trunking also look way off. I'm of a mind to wait for a more accurate kit to pop up. Maybe Trumpeter?
  6. Given the Chinese authorities have not yet released official specifications, I'm strongly inclined to think the latter option is the case. As I mentioned earlier, hopefully their guesswork was well informed based on what information is out in public domain.
  7. This is true, and I had actually forgotten that T-50's dimensions had not yet been released to my knowledge. I guess it's a case of trusting the kit manufacturers to do their homework and use what information they've got to make it as accurate as possible.
  8. I asked if any official dimensions had been released. I'm aware that plenty of guesswork has been made. While some of it may be near-spot-on, I want something from the horse's mouth. I think that's a given from you. :P
  9. I was noting that, as well. Not too bad, but a little pinched in at the back end. I suspect the result would require a larger nozzle. Is the Hasegawa exhaust from either their 27 or 33 kit accurate, diameter-wise?
  10. Now that it's out, any chance we'll have some reviews comparing it with photos of the aircraft? Again, have there been any official dimensions provided by the PRC government or the manufacturer?
  11. I, too, would like to see a comparison of the Airfix Su-27 and Hasegawa Su-33 parts. I've got a couple of the former in my collection earmarked for Sea Flanker conversions, but I'd like to know how the Hasegawa kit compares and contrasts. That said, I'm still waiting for Trumpeter's Flanker.

    BERKUT

I think there's some confusion here. The plane flybywire is asking about is the Su-47/S-37 Berkut FSW demonstrator. Not quite the same beast as the Su-37. As for the cockpit/canopy interior color, I suspect Ken Duffey would have a more definitive answer. I do know that Russian Flankers have a pale gray cockpit, as opposed to the turquoise blue-green of some earlier Soviet aircraft cockpits.
  13. I airbrushed a decal sheet the other day with the stuff, using some Tamiya thinner. It did the trick. As for cleaning, I have not thoroughly cleaned the airbrush since.
  14. I recently purchased an Airfix P.1127 from Mr. Rys, and it arrived quickly. Great seller!
  15. Luckily I've got a couple Airfix Flankers in the stash, so I can rob them for their nose wheel mud guards. I've been thinking of building an early-block Su-27. By the way, what happened to the mud guard on that Flanker in the photo? Surely none of the early aircraft operated without the guard?
  16. Ken, the game Duke Nukem Forever was first announced in April 1997. It was released just a few months ago. Sadly, I've heard it does not live up to its hype. I hope that will not be the case with this kit. Trumpeter has had time to get it right. I just had another look at the sprue shots. Are the horizontals single-piece with two options, or are they two-piece assemblies?
  17. But we know what every Saturn V was doing when it went up. The final Saturn V flight after Apollo 17 was Skylab 1, which was very visibly different in appearance from the Apollo stacks. You really have to treat the movie as a work of fiction, and ignore their harping about "lost footage" nonsense, to enjoy it.
  18. I'm probably going to see it once, if only because it has Apollo stuff in it. Otherwise I wouldn't be interested. I missed Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity (though I did wind up seeing Cloverfield). It takes subject matter to drive my interest.
  19. Don't get me started on that. I'm still getting over the lag time prior to Portal 2's release. :P
  20. I may have to get a copy of Duke Nukem Forever just as a stand on which to display the Trumpeter 1:72 Su-27.
  21. Even considering that it's just fiction, it's pretending to represent real events. Seriously, how do you hide a Saturn V launch, not only from observers across central and eastern Florida, but from ham radio operators, amateur astronomers, or even seismologists? There were thirteen Saturn V flights, all of which were well documented I wish they would drop the "true events" nonsense.

    BSG Vipers

Release of the Cylon Raider is nigh.
  23. This was done to death over a year and a half ago, when we saw the first photos of the PAK-FA. Enough.
  24. An Iwata Eclipse or Revolution would make a great investment. They're easy to clean and operate. I was wary of using an airbrush for years. My first batch of shuttle models were painted freehand, and using a sponge brush to paint the wider surfaces on the orbiter, as well as the external tank (for texture on the latter). Were I to do it again, I would do the whole thing with an airbrush. It makes a significant difference.
  25. What kind of camera are you using? You might try taking several pictures using different distance and light settings to get something you like. If the camera has a macro function, use that, too. The mods to the Soyuz core forward section make sense. Are you brush-painting the parts? As for the screen tile method, what are you going to do to replicate the staggered block pattern? The screen looks like it will be too uniform.
