As I recall, Dutch, before offering the entire KC-10A kit, AIM/Transport Wings originally issued the KC-specific parts separately as a 'conversion set' for their DC-10 - with the boom parts being common, it might be worth contacting them to see if they'll supply those items to you for your project, and perhaps make the suggestion that they could offer them to others as a stand-alone KC-46A conversion, like they did previously?

Apparent variations were often the result of the environments in which the vehicles operated - they all started out shiny and fresh, but many ended up faded and matt... I'm intrigued, Bill, by your reference to "a sliding door white top VH-3A" - every VH-3 'white top' photo which l have shows airstairs fitted... ....this one, however, is of particular note in that it has three 'standard' windows on the port side, rather than four with the 'picture' window... ....which leads me to wonder, is it "a sliding door white top VH-3A"? The photo is captioned 'Army One, Camp David, 1967'...

  12. Hi Leonardo I have a number of the original ESCI kits, along with an AMT issue, as well as an Italeri one. Apart from the colour of the plastic - dark green ESCI/AMT, light grey Italeri - the only noticeable difference with the latter is a few traces of flash on some parts. Otherwise, the moulding quality appears very similar, quite crisp and fresh, and my example has none of the missing or incomplete panel lines which you've mentioned. I still have the review model which I built for SAM using that set, back in 1998 - I started paint-stripping it a few years ago in order to refurbish in white over grey, but it's sat untouched since, mainly because I've nowhere here to put it (or any of my many other big Boeings!)... Yes, the MX tail code was/is used by HMX-1, but the aircraft which carried it were not usually assigned to presidential support, but engaged in the unit's other role as the primary Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) unit for Marine assault support helicopters and related equipment - other examples below: That said, 'Green Side' presidential support aircraft (and their crews) also participate in the OT&E tasking:
