  1. Have you glued your landing gear on? Personally i would recommend leaving it off til after painting, weathering etc as it can get in the way and/or break off etc. I left the main landing gear completely off (it snaps in place so easy to put it on at any point really) and just installed the "stub" of front landing gear (part L28 and L49) and folded them into the bay. Atleast that was the case with my plastic landing gear parts for my BM build. πŸ™‚ Hope you recovered well from your "dose" of covid... Otherwise, good progress so far on the build!πŸ‘
  2. Yes. This has been the main hold up.
  3. The footage is from Kazan aviation plant where they are refurbishing, modernizing and built Tu-160's. (Now building Tu-160M2 and PAK-DA) The frame is likely completely emptied for fuel and it does have a support jack below the tail, although probably as an extra precaution rather than a necessity per say; There is nothing at the front wheel holding it down per say. At different posts it has wings fully extended, for the reasons boom175 is speculating on. So generally speaking it is possible to see an operational frame like this, but unlik
  4. Agree with Michael above, by the sound of it it is most likely Su-33. If it is - I highly recommend to wait for the new Minibase kit, trust me, it is gonna be good... In 1/72 Hasegawa is great but Zvezda's is probably better overall. Maybe try to get pilots wife to get a spy picture of the picture so you can know for sure + maybe bort number is seen there etc (assuming it is of the exact aircraft he flew) Su-33's has had several different camo's so that would help narrow the colors down too etc. If he really was a Su-33 pilot then that is very rare and special - there a
  5. I guess you all are not seeing what i am seeing here atleast, here is the first link; Second one works too.
  6. Thank you! Glad you liked it. πŸ™‚ Yup, decals are 100% OOB, had no trouble with them whatsoever. Forgot to add stencils on the insides of the pylons but that is on the to-do list for the mentioned upgrades/improvements i would like to do to the model. Thank you Quiddy, yours is excellent as always too!
  7. It is a light grey color and personally i find it to have a slightly bluish tint too. I used Vallejo pale greyblue on my build, it is lighter in real life than what vallejo's site suggests and to my eyes it was pretty much bang on.
  8. Didn't see you either but would absolutely say hello if i did! Thank you. πŸ™‚ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ Thank you! Judging by your excellent D-9 i am sure it will end up excellent too. πŸ™‚ Yeah, i am a big fan of accurate weathering and it is a hard balance between accurate and a boring model. I think my panellines tend to be a touch too dark but other than that i try to keep other weathering to minimum and only in spots that are logical and/or documented in pictures.
  9. My package from Temp models was sent late August and last sign of life was on 30'th. Since then nothing, so radio silence for 3+ weeks now...
  10. Awesome build, nice to see it in flight fully displaying its air thirsty intakes like that. Completely agree with everyone else, weathering is spot on.πŸ‘ I too have the MiG-25BM in 1/72 in the stash, looking forward to building it now i hear the fit is quite good.
  11. Very helpful advice, will read again. Hi Carlos! Yeah, i remember solving this issue same way many years ago. πŸ™‚ So it is indeed a solution that works, but would just like to find a more sustainable and precise way of doing it with better and more "uniform" tool(s). But i guess it is worth a try for this specific case on P-47, thanks for reminding me of this. Longer term, would like to find a more precise tool. Hmm, those are interesting, but quite pricey indeed and unsure how well they would work in tighter areas like in my second picture. I will look for alternat
  12. So i am building Tamiya P-47M and while it is obviously a great kit, Tamiya sure likes their ejection marks. Including ones on the wheelbay doors and such. Those wheelbay doors have raised rivets and other details. Are there any recommendations for the best tools to deal with the putty after filling ejection marks in areas like these? In areas like these it can be hard to use a sanding stick, even skinny ones. I have a glassfiber brush and it works fine (last i used it, which was ages ago now) but having strands of glassfiber around isn't optimal. Then there are diamond files and m
  13. Thank you. Yes, other than the self made seatbelts (out of tamiya tape) the cockpit is completely OOB. I use just distilled water to think AKAN.πŸ™‚ Here is a picture of the cockpit during building; I am not familiar with AK Real colors at all. My color matching tips is just the usual; Don't necessarily trust that the producer made a good color match and compare color by color against pictures of the real thing. If it matches, great, if not look for other colors that are closer either from the same or a different maker. In my experience, 95% of the time there are colors
  14. Thank you, glad you liked it. πŸ™‚ For the cockpit color i used AKAN's 73006 cockpit color for MiG's in general and Mi's. However, i felt that the color out of the bottle was too green for my taste so i added a few drops of Vallejo's deep sky blue. For the airframe i used AKAN 73059 out of the bottle and AKAN 73010 for the radome and other dark grey areas. Really nice paints. For other areas i used other vallejo colors, tamiya etc.
  15. I have been a part of the AMK MiG-31BM project ever since something like 2013 helping out with the development and hunting for bugs in the CAD. Shoutout to AMK team for being so diligent and open to critique and thanks for supplying this (and other) kit(s) for me. This particular kit is the second one ever from the factory (first one is in my stash, and wont be built :)) and i started to build it around November 2015. Won't bother writing much about the build itself, it is well known to be an excellent kit. The reason why it took so long had nothing to do with the kit itself, but m
  16. Excellent build! Always nice to see AMK MiG-31 builds πŸ™‚ Yes, they are the same other than the triangle on top of BM/BSM variants, and that will have no effect on masking itself.
  17. Remind me; Do we know what company is generally speaking doing the tooling for GWH?
  18. Yes, and those. But i cannot post sprue shots myself, and as said, better off waiting for the updated parts.
  19. Sorry, i cannot, so you would just trust my word and previous CAD's. Either way, it is better to wait for the updated sprues anyway at this point. πŸ™‚
  20. I don't want to be too specific for a number of reasons, but very soon. πŸ™‚ Of course how long it will take til the kit is out considering everything (and not just the sprues themselves) is anyones guess, but the work is continuing steadily.
  21. Just to give a short update; I have had the first version of the sprues for several months now and even in the early version they look amazing (bare a number of small production issues). Honestly one of the most detailed kits ever. The next version of the sprues will be done soon and axillary stuff (instruction, decals, PE etc) is being worked on too. This one is well worth waiting for.
  22. A rare but very interesting bird, so nice to see a build of it here. Super sharp rescribing work, what tool do you use to rescribe? What are your impressions of the kit so far overall?
