  1. About first spitfire: "First flyable spitfire was set together from parts found on ex-british bases. Fuselage (EN661?) was from ex-brittish Mk.IX, other parts from Mk.VB and some even from Mk.21" ... "This spitfire with number D-130 (latter 2001 and 10) flew long range reconaisance missions with camera installed in fuselage" Fuselage was probabley found on ex-RAF base, but the motor was destroyed by leaving brittish forces. Motor was from egyptian spitfire, that was shot down on first day of the war (I assume, that this spitfire is the one damaged on 14th of May by the AA fire while att
  2. I used revell putty - not a big deal, but it was possible to work with it: I put the putty out of tube and made of it sort of small ball. It dries on surface, but inside it is still OK. Then I used cutted toothpick to get into the middle of putty ball for the fresh putty and apply it wherever needed. It is sort of putty-consuming, but it works... rd
  3. If I remember well, D130 and D131 were made of ex-RAF wreck, using parts of shot-down Egyptian. Unfortunately, source of these infos is a book I borrowed to one friend of mine, so once he will give it back to me, I will be more specific. Talking about nubers of velveta spits, D132, 133 and 134 are correct, check it out here: http://home.sprynet.com/~anneled/IAFinventory.html RD
  4. As not-too-skilled amateur, I prefer Hasegawa or Tamiya to Monogram. I had in my hands Revell aswell (maybe re-boxed Monogram?) and decided not to even start, positive panel lines are not for me... Anyhow, I chose Hasegawa. To improve it a bit, I bought Aires wheel bay, gun bays and cockpit. Unfortunately, these detail sets are designed for Tamiya, so it was hell of work of filling... Now, I´m waiting for Tamiya 8th AF kit, hopefully Aires details are going to fit well... RD
  5. Hi guys, exactly what you said, AS12 is great. But did anybody used TS17 (gloss alumnium)? I bought it just yesterday and I wonder how it´s gonna work... BTW Tamiya does few more rattlecans, that might be usefull for NMF, anybody used that? RD
  6. ...it´s now possible to buy it, according to what I saw on ARC. Any idea where to buy in Czech republic? or via internet? I tried amazon, but without succes... rd
  7. I want to buy me some compressor (and also airbrush). But I live in Czech republic and the prices here are maybe double, compared to prices in US (second hand badger 200 for 120 bucks, for example). Does anybody have some experience with buying this stuff via internet and shipping it to Europe? I know, they say on their pages that it is possible, but I don´t want to bet my 250 bucks on it... Can you recomend me someone? thanks, rd
  8. Thanks guys, you helped me a lot! Now I will make it for sure - I think I will mix your methodes together, if you don´t mind. rd

    MPM He 177

I looked inside the box in the MPM shop in Prague - looks really great (model, rather than shop itself). They told me there this kit should be "shake-n-bake" just like some new tamigawa, but it´s shop of producer, afer all... anyhow, I did not buy it - first i gotta buy me a bigger flat if I want to have this one. Well, maybe I can ask my girlfriend to leave, then I will get some more room for this 177... rd
  10. anybody knows where to buy one of those in europe (especially in czech republic)? ...at least untill eduard will start to produce it. rd
  11. Hi everybody, and especially you, who could help me: now, i´m building mossie fb6 of israeli air force. i´m using tamiya 1/48 kit. the problem is, that israeli mossies were equipped with landing lights on the leading edge of starboard wing and that is not included in the kit. anybody has idea how could i create it? i have few ideas, but when it comes to perspex cover on the edge of the wing... i don´t want to do no experiments, cause i don´t want to ruin my (quite expencive) model with (even more expencive) detail sets. anybody help me, please? rdickson
  12. i´ve never used them, but i´m planning to do so (one of them is on the way to me, thanks for internet shopping), but according to what i´ve heard, the only weakness of them is paint consumption, so one of my friends told me. but he´s doing 1/72 WW1, so hopefully for bigger planes of bigger scales it´s gonna be perfect.
  13. I´d definitley vote for detists deadly weapon - it´s made of best steel and it´s virtually undestroyable (btw. does such a word as "undestroyable" exist in english?). on the other hand, it´s pretty expencive (at least in czech republic). on the other hand, it will serve you well and forever

    Israeli decals

Hi everyone, please, I´m looking for emblems of israeli squadrons in 1/48. Isradecal has been doing that (http://www.isradecal.com/iaf_1.html), but it´s sold out. For example, I have almost finished spitfire mk.IX, all I miss is emblem of 107 tajeset, can anybody help me, please?
  15. I saw the lamp in the wing on my photos, but I did´nt know the fact, that there were two of them there. Thanks for help. rd
