Hahahaha! Seriously? Whitey, you want my DSN? SIPR address? I don't need to prove myself to you, but if you wanna talk shoot, I'll buy you a round in the bar, and bury you in anti-Patriots talk. This ain't my first rodeo, son.

Oh, I make it a practice to ensure whatever I post I would say to someone's face. Then again, I'm raised in the three primary forms of communication for tactical aviation: fear, sarcasm, and ridicule. I'd have no problem saying any of this in person. Hell, I've certainly said worse to other Patriots' fans faces.

Wait, wait, wait....a Patriots athletic supporter is complaining about a member of the Seahawks giving terse, monosyllabic answers and being constantly annoyed by the press? To the point where it frustrates the media covering him? And that makes Lynch a Jacka$$? You might want to rethink that position, Whitey. Cuz your guys wrote the book on being a JA to the media:

Still waiting for Mr Belicheat to explain the physics of why the Colts footballs managed to remain within regulation limits under the same conditions. Personally, I think we should commission a study on the effects of mass paranoia on a population. It appears the Patriots have successfully managed to convince the greater New England area that they are an, "oppressed population who everyone hates just because we're successful," in spite of all logical evidence to the contrary. The rest of the country hates the Patriots not for their success, but because they're a shady, shady organizatio

I love how Patriots fans keep throwing this red herring out, as if it has anything to do with their organization's predilection to violate the rules if it gives them an advantage. Hats off to Mr Wilfork for being a decent human being. Mike Tyson repeatedly stops and assists disabled motorists on the highways in the Las Vegas area. It has about as much to do with the topic of the New England football team's cheating ways, but it's an equally interesting story. ****BREAK**** In other news, looky here! It would appear that where there's smoke, there's actual fire: NFL found that 11 of 12 P

Yeah, winning it all is meaningless. Clearly winning the Conference is the most important metric. I couldn't have said it better myself. Fortunately, Lawrence Tynes could...and did:

I don't think anybody with any knowledge of football will say these allegations had a substantial impact on the game. I just think it's odd that the Patriots are consistently in the headlines for things like this, and it makes you wonder, rightfully, what else they're up to in their "masterful gameplan" by their "brilliant" coach. I mean, where there's smoke, there's generally fire. And there are an awful lot of allegations of less than forthrightness originating from the vicinity of Foxboro and Gillette Field. In the end, nothing will come of it because, A) they're the Patriots, and B)
  8. Okay, I don't think I'm going to be able to help out Stealthman, so if anybody else might happen to have these exhausts, I'm still looking... Thanks.
  9. Stealthman - give me a day or so to try and line something up. I don't have any immediately available, but I have a few ideas. Any chance you might be interested in any other trades? Or could I buy them straight up from you?
  10. Looking to purchase (possibly trade for) a set of Cutting Edge 1/48 SR-71/YF-12/A-12 Exhaust Nozzles. I once upon a time had this set, but for the life of me, cannot find it in the stash now. I think I might've traded it off or donated it to a holiday raffle, actually. Of course, now I have a use for one... :) Oh well. At any rate, if you have the set and would be willing to part with it, I'm certainly willing to pay for its value. Thanks!
  11. Still not above taking a cheap shot, eh Mark? Nobody has criticized Aaron at all. Certainly not to a level that warrants being called an animal. Both Trigger and TT, rightfully, addressed the flimsy commentary that's passed for journalism in recent reporting on the status of the F-35 program. Their criticisms are valid, leveled directly at the author, and wholly with merit regarding the descending quality of reporting on a troubled program with a long history of public relations missteps. There is blood in the water, and the sharks will come. The F-35 program's information dissemination
  12. The great irony being, of the two, the unmanned A-10 is far, far close to reality. Of course, it would beg the question of why we need the indispensable MkI eyeball touted by the A-10 proponents... Unmanned A-10 under JTAC direct control
  13. Dammit, Chris! I told you, that image was NOT for public release!!!
  14. We are? We are. Although depending on the source, it is arguable whether we were ever there in the first place. The concept of MAD was a politically driven philosophy used to justify acquisition of greater and greater numbers of nuclear weapons, and yes, it was driven by a deterrence theory concept. However, in practicality, military planners most certainly envisaged employment of nuclear weapons in a variety of scenarios which would NOT precipitate a global nuclear war, nor the need for a potential adversary to respond with the fullness of his arsenal. MAD was espoused by a variety of p
  15. If the bad guys are close enough to be targeting fuel trucks on your airfield, the color of the fuel trucks is probably not your biggest problem. Not even close. It's actually a highly efficient means to get excess temperature off the aircraft, especially for systems which require liquid cooling. The alternative is to install another liquid cooling system, which adds more weight and complexity, or add extra heat sinks to these systems, which also adds a lot of weight. As has been pointed out earlier, it's an accepted engineering solution, and it works very well when the aircraft is ope
  16. So stealth. Much sneaky! Hide in plain sight! Very camo.
  17. Sure, but none of that gets you to Link-16 transmit capability. *shrug* Our adventures in various colors of tan over the last 13 years have allowed us to experiment with a wide range of systems and capabilities that are not technically "operational," but were pushed into the field to meet a JUON or other high priority requirement. And "BACN" is a little bit like saying, "Datalink." BACN can take so many different flavors and capabilities depending on the hardware/software configuration provided, so it's difficult to pin it down to a specific capability set. The BIS-MDI version (an acron
  18. Not correct. The F-22 is still receive-only on Link-16, and any planned Link-16 transmit upgrades are still several years down the road. There are several 5th-to-4th Gen communication workarounds proposed: Project Missouri TALON HATE BACN IFDL Subsystem (BIS) Multi-Domain Integration (MDI)....because who doesn't like bacon? None of these are fully funded or operational, and all would require significant budgetary investment. They've all proven workable, with varying degrees of limitations. Terrible article, written by a defense blogger who repackages other articles and makes them sig
  19. I don't believe that's necessarily the case. From all I have read, the USN is looking to drastically increase the -9X range because they feel that the AMRAAM's effectiveness will be significantly reduced by the new EW equipment starting to be fielded. It's a bit of a desperation move (IMO) but they appear to have some real concerns about the AMRAAM. I'd argue, for whatever my opinion is worth, that it's a healthy bit of both. And it's not just the Navy with these concerns. WVR stuff has been extremely dangerous for a few years now, and it's only getting worse. AMRAAM is a rather long-in-
  20. I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you saying the NATO, NORAD, and US military leadership considers this to be completely normal; within standard procedures; in accordance with historical norms and training cycles; and it is only the media's sudden seizing on the reporting of these flights as abnormal? Because if you think it's a sudden media realization that Russian aircraft fly near other borders, and this is "just an everyday thing," you're wrong. If you think it's a completely media manufactured story, and that these flights haven't taken place, aren't taking place, or that th
  21. Returning this thread more to its original topic, and disregarding the sidebars on media matters... The answer to the above question is yes. It's a significant uptick, and the manner and disposition of these flights is a damned bit different than the standard characterization of a "routine" ADIZ penetration. If you read some of the quoted articles, you'll note the flights have involved multiple aircraft formations (and by multiple, I mean 'more than two' in this case), extremely long routes involving multiple, complex refueling procedures, and, perhaps the most "different" aspect, long rang
  22. Yes, that's precisely the type of attitude we need to continue encouraging investment in paradigm shattering, humanity altering improvements that could not only save the planet but significantly improve the quality of life for billions of people in the developing world. Leno summed this attitude up perfectly, when discussing something significantly lower tech in the form of automotive innovation: "We've reached the point where success is jeered."
