  1. I don't drink much when I'm at home but I like a small glass of this sometimes when modeling. It's almost empty though, I need to go back to Latvia
  2. Hey, yes my inbox was full. Haven't noticed that. I really don't like ARC's PM system, it's very user-unfriendly. I deleted some messages so you should be able to PM me but you can also use my email jelleputs hotmail.com if you want to!!

  3. You can do that even quicker if you use Google Chrome: right click the image and select 'search on Google for this image' (or something like that).
  4. It would be really interesting to see a new country developing, just for the small things. What will they pay with? Will the Union Jack lose its blue parts? What will Scottish civil aircraft registration numbers begin with? :P On the other hand, I really don't think it's financially a good idea to make themselves independent, but I'm not an expert..
  5. Great work on those engines. Never realized the A318's engines are so much different.
  6. I'm doing a 757 with dropped flaps at the moment. You just have to look at photos very carefully to understand how they work and what parts you have to remove from the kit's wings (do this before you attach the lower and upper halves). The most tricky part to me is sanding a realistic profile into them to not make them look like plain pieces of styrene sheet. That's where I went wrong a little on my previous attempt. Also, extended flaps means that you have to make extended leading edge slats as well. They are a bit more tricky to look realistic. Here's my first (and last, as long as the 757
  7. All I have is a bike as well but not as sturdy (and dirty) as yours. I regularly lose parts and the noise it produces wakes everyone up by cycling past their houses at night. But it's still in better shape than most of the bicycles on the roads over here. I do have a driver's license, though. Ain't going to post photos of my parent's car that I borrow when I need one because you will laugh at me (OK, it's a Citroen Xsara Picasso).
  8. Take a look at Brad Shinn's work here. It might be a good guide. http://airlinercafe.com/plug.php?e=gallery&f=1306 http://airlinercafe.com/plug.php?e=gallery&f=1373 http://airlinercafe.com/plug.php?e=gallery&f=1449 http://airlinercafe.com/plug.php?e=gallery&f=1541
  9. Airline liveries being good or bad really is a matter of personal taste. Most of the liveries from the first post are just plain ugly TO ME (I like the NWA and Delta 737 scheme though). My favourites are modern liveries without showing too much white. 'Eurowhite' is OK to me but it should be compensated with some interesting streaks and colours. Flag carrier liveries showing some national heritage really do it for me. That being said, here are (some of) my favourites! I like this one as well but I don't really know why. It looks just classy on the A340
  10. Also for -600? Regular winglets aren't certified for the -600 so I don't think the split scimitars will.
  11. They are split scimitar winglets, designed for the 737MAX (though I believe the MAX will get slightly different shaped scimitars). The upper part of the winglet is also different from the original winglets, they point backwards at the top. They are offered as a retrofit for the 737-800 and soon for other 737NG's as well.
  12. Looks good! Nice livery. Your homemade decals look excellent.
  13. Identifying all victims takes a lot of time as it is very difficult to come up with fake autopsy reports - I mean, they don't want people to know that MH17 actually was a remote controlled flight full of dead bodies and explosives to blame the Russian separatists. (yes, that's an actual conspiracy theory, it makes me sick)
  14. I spent a year at the Dutch Safety Board during my internship and it might surprise you how long it takes to do a thorough investigation. I really don't know how far they are as my internship ended last February but I'm sure they will come up with some preliminary report soon, just to answer some questions or to show that they are actually working on it.
  15. It took me a minute to understand what it is and I chuckled when I got it. Very original and I like the ecdysis Lightning as well.
  16. No you shouldn't, I think over-detailing a cockpit is one of the most fun parts of modeling. And if you keep the colours light enough you will actually see quite a lot through the CRJ's large windows. Do they have sliding side windows, btw?
  17. Looks very nice!! It's good to see a well built model of an old kit without any aftermarket or other fixes. Only the cockpit window looks a bit odd to me (it points upward at the sides) but that's the decal designer's fault, not yours (looks like the window decal from the Revell Haribo 737?)
  18. Thank you guys!! I really like reading your comments. I am also open to critiques, because this is only the 4th model I use this weathering technique to. I'm sure I still can improve it. You're welcome ;) Once you're addicted to these little commuter airliners you get scared off by the size of every wide body you'll put on your work bench. Did you order these exact decals or another livery? You'll enjoy building Hase's 170! They should do more airliners in 1:144. greets Jelle
  19. One minor question: are the CRJ-200 engines identical (external, at least) to those of the -100? As far as I know the engines are the only difference but I can't spot any. It should build up into a -200 as well, right? (with other decals, of course)
  20. I would like to see some pictures of it! Washing does not necessarily have to be weathering, by the way. It just gives certain panel lines more depth, making the model more interesting to look at (in my opinion). What are the black stripes on top of the wings for? Is it some sort of visual ice detection strip?
  21. Very nice model! I really wonder how you can build them so fast. Very neat. I just think it could use a bit more detail, like all the antennae and humps and bumps on the roof, and maybe a light wash in the wing's panel lines. B)
  22. I used a very fine riveter to add some rivet detail on the exhaust. greets Jelle
