  1. It all comes down to what your idea of "whif" is. Me, I'd build an Aggressor Raptor in a heartbeat, in the black/gray/white scheme the Alaska F-16 Aggressors are painted in. Sure, it's nowhere near accurate, but it'd look good on the shelf and be very different from any other Raptor build out there. In my opinion, the absolute best whifs are the ones that could never happen. Like a MiG-31 with the panel lines smoothed over and modified to be a USN jet. Realistic? No way. Awesome? Absolutely. Same idea with the Aggressor Raptor. Just my thoughts. YMMV.
  2. Since it's all pure-whiffery at this point, I'd say "yes" to all your questions. Realism comes secondary to awesomeness when it comes to whifs.
  3. Thanks guys! I meant the record setter, but for some odd reason, I wrote "prototype" instead. I had thought it was the P-42, just wasn't sure about it. Ken, that's a great model! Is there a thread or webpage documenting the build?
  4. To Airfix! Now if I can find this kit I can finally build all those Flankers I've been wanting. Old Su-35, new Su-35, Russian Knights Flanker, P-42 (that was the prototype, right?), Su-27K, Su-30, the list just goes on and on.
  5. Here's a pretty good thread that ChernayaAkula did a while back. Hope this helps. EDIT: Beaten to it!
  6. A thin slice of sprue might work, if you've got a razor saw.
  7. Can't say I liked the Matrix sequels, but that's an awesome Lego build. The mechanical squid thingies (technical term) are pretty sick, in particular.
  8. And I thought playing Dungeons & Dragons was weird... Interesting concept, though.
  9. ...What's with the animal ears and why don't they have very visible noses?
  10. Please tell me this won't be another thread that degenerates into a "they never should have gotten rid of the Tomcat in the first place" crapfest.
  11. This. A thick, sharp needle might work even better for punching a round hole than an X-acto.
  12. It's starting to look good now, dude! I like the new IFF blades. You could do an offset IRST, like some Flankers have.
  13. Duuuuuude! That's awesome! This would be great in a diorama with the Y-wing. Death Star trench run, anyone?
  14. If you've been dreaming about it for so long, why not get started on it? I'm not a Galactica fan, but I've seen a load of info on it all over the 'Net. Resin Illuminati in particular has a few big Galactica projects on it that look really well done, so there's plenty of refs and ways to go about building it. If you don't start it, you'll never get it finished.
  15. It really depends on what subject you're looking for, and what scale, but I think every manufacturer makes recessed line kits whenever they do a new-tool. Revell-Monogram still has their old kits with raised lines, like the P-61 and A-10, and I'm sure other manufacturers do too. As for detail and fit, Tamiya and Hasegawa are pretty much hailed as the top of the heap there, and Revell's newer kits like the F-15E are just as good or better. Is there anything specific you're looking for?
  16. :D I've said it before, and I'll say it again: This is the BEST Y-wing I've ever seen! I can see it now, flying down the Death Star trench.
  17. Whoa! After a teaser like that, you've GOTTA show us some close-ups. This is one of the best FM Y-wing buildups I've seen. It really does look like it could have been in the movies.
  18. And this, friends, is what drives modelers to wake up screaming in the middle of the night.
  19. I hadn't heard that, but I heard that Lucas was making a live-action TV show set in the time between the two movie trilogies, maybe featuring young Boba Fett.
  20. Yeah, the New Jedi Order with the Yuuzhan Vong is my favorite series of Star Wars novels, but the Legacy of the Force is pretty good too.
  21. Actually, two of Han and Leia's kids were eventually killed off. Yeah, seeing the Expanded Universe stuff as a TV show would be amazing.
  22. Well, from what I've heard, there isn't much debate about the Revell Strike Eagle being the top of the heap.
  23. Filler: Thick superglue (CA) Decal Solvent: I use the MicroSet/MicroSol system Glue: Testor's Liquid Cement or Tamiya Extra Thin Cement and CA
  24. I'm generally not a fan of MMORPGs, but if this one is anything like the trailer, I have to get it. The most awesome thing I've seen in a solid MONTH. Those Sith fighters in the end of the trailer were SICK, and the Sith transport would make for a cool model. Kinda reminded me of the Lambda-class from Return of the Jedi.
