  1. excellent informative and humorous posts kursad! had no idea there was such a industry in obsolescent parts!
  2. I'm assuming they round ground tests with canopy closed? you could work out how much air would be contained inside the cockpit without pressurisation; how much human respiration would be required to cause a change in the CO2 levels to cause symptoms of hypoxia; then compare to the length of the engine test and see if the levels change more than expected - perhaps indicating some technical problem. another angle completely may be that its a sociogenic illness - where symptoms manifest due to complex mass auto suggestion, triggering an anxiety responses. A famous case occurred to multiple doct
  3. unfortunately the yellows been a bit to washed out(ladder) as has the red (airbrake) while I wouldn't doubt there's only one scheme, it seems the paint fades pretty badly going form a dark olive drab to a kakhi * did the charlies always carry a badge on the port side nose?
  4. another photo that might be of interest :) corrected somewhat:
  5. thoughts on this pic? (put me in pool for uber faded OD, that for all intensive purposes looks brown)
  6. hiya! good news is that most of the Ethiopian Trojans were T-28As - dont know if that helps with getting a kit for one?
  7. he does the robotic inflections so well! check out his nuances before he answers the question "what do you think about?"
  8. hiya! Indeed Ethiopia's markings are erratic to say the least!! unfortunately I dont have any pictures of the upper wing surfaces of F-5As, but I do have a grainy photo of the undersides I know from correspondence that the T-28 trojans delivered under MAP just had Ethiopian roundels placed over the american ones (upper left, bottom right), If you were building a f-5A from that era it would stand to reason they would be the same - you can defiantly make out the roundel on the bottom right of the aircraft!
  9. it seems to vary on geography from what Ive seen
  10. wait till it pops out an easter egg :D
  11. all the best man! :) :) "Mole, Bloody mole!!"
  12. Friend sent me this, thought it was a hoot! :)
  13. it is one of my favs, though totally agree about the last half hour! its a fictional story based on the non-fiction book "imperial life in the emerald city" - written by a journalist who critically examined the actions and described the atmosphere of the coalition provincial authority (is a really interesting read!) certainly there are strong parallels from the fictional narrative to real world events, a couple of examples would be: - the dissolution of the Iraq army, and the effect that had on creating insurgent armies/militias - the insertion of a foreign exile a into leadership
  14. indeed I completely missed that! haven't seen RN-40 before, mistook it for a ZAb-500  cheers :) yep, its ex Moldovan; one of the nuclear capable machines purchased to keep off the market the remaining 9.13s in Moldova have been floated around for sale, but form what I've translated any interest they may have been in the 90s has gone now, will probably end up being scrapped as Linden mentioned
  15. we can only hope as the regime crumbles more photographs will appear, like what's come out of Libya; ironically its often harder to get photos of older aircraft than line birds!
  16. simply, you don't have to share them if you don't want to. If you feel pressured to share things for free out in the open by members, you have every right to decline. If someone leaks pics you send to them privately; yea that's betrayal of confidentiality. but if you post them on, say, ARC and if I can come on as a non-member of the wider public and access the image, it has been put into the public domain by you, the rights holder; I can copy, share, modify it as much as I want as long as I don't try to pass the image as my own (different to giving credit) or try to sell it for money. if th
  17. If photographers take there toys and go home; its their choice. However the economics of media have changed; it used to be supply constrained, whereas now it is demand driven. If a producer leaves the arena others will gladly take their place. new ones come up, old ones drop off, its incredibly healthy for the system. people love to comment, critique, inform or research subjects sourcing a variety of materials from 3rd party sources (ARC is a brilliant example) as is their protected right. if one was to advocate limiting the means of people to share information already inserted into the publ
