  3. Cheers for the answers, the differences are such that I may as well look at getting a GR-7. On that basis what are the best kits in 1/72 and 1/48. It seems the airfix 1/72 new tool is pretty good ? Thanks Pete
  4. Gents hi Topic heading pretty much says it all. What are the difference betweeen the GR-7 and the AV-8B, and if I have a AV-8B what is required to make it into a GR-7, or is it not really possible. thanks Pete

The painting will be on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola until the end of August. This award is sponsored and judged by Jack Fellows and he presented the award in person ! and here I am with John Chesire, he is the pilot of the featured F-4, and proud owner of the painting. I've just recevied an

    P-3c Orion

Gents hi I've been commissioned by the VP-45 Association to complete a P-3c Orion painting, in the USN hi viz scheme, so will be getting hold of the kit ( which I believe is the same regardless of boxing), to use as a guide for the painting. How is the kit for accuracy and does it have any well known issues ? As a cheeky extra if any one wants to donate a kit, I'll provide them with a print of the completed painting ( when done) in return Thanks Pete
  12. Cheers Holmes, I'll certainly post some photos and share them here Prints now available if anyone is interested http://www.btinternet.com/~petewenman/BTDEL.html Pete
  13. Cheers all Just to confirm this painting along wth OK2 will be on display at the Naval Aviation Museum Pensacola, from 1st May to 31st August, as part of this years ASAA art exhibition, so if you are in the area pop along and have look. I have a whole week at the museum in May and can't wait to see all that NavAir goodness Pete
  14. Not sure what you are asking VMA-224 were on the Coral Sea in 1972, and carried out the mining of Haiphong harbour the day before Linebacker I kicked off. I'm not sure the full blue tail and WK code is correct for that deployment though. Coral Sea aircraft carried NL on the tail, and I believe only the rudder was coloured (green ?) HTH P
  15. Guys hi Just a quick line to say the prints for By the Dawn's Early Light are now available, and one of the VF-151 edition is set aside as a prize for the GB. In any one fancys one in the meantime http://www.btinternet.com/~petewenman/BTDEL.html Pete
  16. Guys hi I've just finished my F-4 painting, http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=221120 and while I've another F-4 piece on the go I want to start the prep on the next. I was hoping to do an F-18F, but having an E to hand it makes sense to go with that. I'm not really up to speed on the Super Hornets, and don't really know what is out there markings wise. KIV this is to be the basis for an in flight painting. I have in mind a three bird composition so the CAG bird could be in, but three low viz aircraft could work. So what E squadrons have/had cool markings , or an int
  17. Finished and signed By the Dawn’s Early Light Oil on canvas 36†x24†Three Phantom F-4B’s from VF-151 on an early morning mission over North Vietnam. NF 213 is piloted by John “Bedhog†Chesire, with RIO George “T.A.†Healey in the rear. NF 210 has Ted Triebel in the front seat and Dave Everett in the rear. Dave and Ted were shot down on August 27, 1972, on a photo escort mission over North Vietnam while flying 210, and spent the rest of the war as POW's in the infamous Hanoi Hilton. Dave recalls, â€Aside from the very occasional MiGCAP, the best hops a j.o. could draw were
  18. Patrick that is pretty slack, but I do wonder if three posts in this thread shows far too much effort on your part, and so undoes all the good work P
  19. It really depends what you are after. The Osprey series "Combat Aircraft" covers both periods pretty well (Vietnam more so than Korea) HTH P
  20. Cheers all for the kind words - it's appreciated Thanks Steve, that's very good of you. This is a big issue for me, and so it's not surprising you have commented on it. My decision is to omit the smoke trails, as I think it wil spoil the look of the sky and the overall composition, but I know it's not accurate. But that's what artistic licence is for Pete
  21. Pretty close to finishing this one By the Dawn's Early Light Oil on Canvas 36" x 24" I plan to offer this as print (I've promised one as a prize in the USN Centennial of Naval Aviation Superbuild and Contest GB. C&C welcome Pete
