  10. I've built the kit some 15 years ago and converted it to a F-18A. The Revell kit represents in fact one of the prototypes. Unfortunately, there's only this one picture left (the model became a write off during a recent move ): No conversion resin parts were available at that time, so everything was scratched (flaps, slats, LERX, refueling probe, ladder, ejection seat, etc., etc.). Paragon once did a resin coversion for this kit, not sure if it's still available these days. Lothar
  11. HTH The parts are very well casted, don't know how they fit though. (The white plasticard strips in the front office have been added by me) Lothar
  12. I've started a Hasegawa Spitfire Mk IXc and extended the fuselage, assuming that it is indeed a bit short according to some previews and comments I've read somewhere (I didn't bother to compare to drawings): I'm using the CMK cockpit set and I'm quite confused what seat would be correct for the IXc: A bakelite or a padded metal seat ? My only picture source "WWP Spitfire Mk. IX" clearly shows a bakelite seat, the Hasegawa kit seat looks like a bakelite seat with a back pad and the CMK set seat looks like a completely padded metal bucket What seat is correct ?? Any help is appreciated
  13. Great, thanks a lot for the pics, now I get the idea <_< Lothar
  14. I'm desperate for some information / pictures about the canopy raising mechanism. I have a few pics in my references but none of them is detailed or clear enough to show how the mechanism works. Obviously there is a hydraulic cylinder on either side of the bang seat that might reach up to the canopy frame plus sort of a linked arm between the rear wall of the cockpit and the canopy, but I don't have the faintest idea how that goes together. Can anyone help ? I'm planning on building a 1/48 Mirage IIIB using the Heller kit as basis and would like to display with open canopy. Lothar
  15. Stunning, simply stunning - hats off to some excellent builds Lothar
  16. Excellent choice of markings - what decal set are you using ? I like these marking very much myself, but couldn't find any matching decals for it yet. Will be a perfect looking model when finished ! ...and thanks for the detailed informations on the weak spots of the Hase kit ! Lothar

  18. According to the Daco book "the initial Hornets were powered by two GE F-404-GE-400 engines, but later models had the newer GE-402 engines coated with white ceramic material". How can I figure out which aircraft had the later engines :) ? Lothar

  23. Here's my solution if you have a Tamyia kit which will never be built: The diameter of the Tamyia fan blade is pretty much the same as the Italeri one. Just remove the outer plastic from the Tamyia part and remove the inner section of the Italeri intake... et voila (the Tamyia blades require only minimal trimming). Just a thought. Lothar
