  1. That's exactly how I feel. Some poor lazy Mayan sap was sick of his mundane work of making calendars. Eventually he said "screw this, I'm going to be dead by then. Let them suckers make their own calendars." Obviously, this means the world is going to end. If my Cubbies win the World Series this year or next year however, I may become a believer...
  2. The Cubs win the World Series. After the impossible happens, what's the point?
  3. I can't stop listening to Our Lady Peace lately... GREAT band. Also been listening to a lot of Thornley and Alter Bridge lately. I have a full 16GB iPod, filled mostly with rock, reggae and country, a little rap and some classical.
  4. Anyone know of a source for a WASP emblem in 1/48th? My sister wants to build a P-40 as a tribute to Suzie Parish and we're having trouble finding a source.
  5. LETS GO CUBBIES!!!!!!!!!! Been counting down the days to spring training all winter.
  6. I predict that everything Trent Dilfer says about the game on ESPN will be wrong. Whatever that ends up being. I'd like to see the Packers win it, mostly because of Greg Jennings. He's from my hometown and graduated from my high school (Kalamazoo Central) and still does a lot of great things in our community with his foundation. I've actually had the pleasure of meeting him several times and even interviewing him for the school paper once. He's one of the true good guys in sports. Just because I want to see him win it, I'll go with: Packers 20 Steelers 17
  7. Wow! VERY nice build. I'll be it must have been very difficult lining up the wings and subassemblies properly. Good job!
  8. We touched a bit on this in a media law and ethics class I took recently. The problem with privacy here is IF (and that's a big if) the website pulls the information from either public records or social networks, it is not an invasion of privacy. With the rulings we studied, voluntarily giving or posting information on social networking sites, forums, etc. is just that- voluntary. Because of that, the consensus appears to be that the individual waives their right to privacy on that information since it was volunteered. The theory right now is that social network sites are public forums, and in
  9. I use three old kit boxes: 1) Ordnance and underwing stores- easily the biggest box 2) Cockpit and wheels 3) General airframe (antennas, dive brakes, speed brakes, etc.) Extra decals I just keep in a stack in the cupboard or just put in the box of a similar kit. For example, I have TBM decals in my Tigercat box in case any of the stars and bars or stencils might be applicable. That sort of thing. It's a pretty basic organization. Then again, I've only built about 20 kits in my life, so my spare stash is sure to be smaller than most...
  10. Well deserved for Alomar. I thought Larkin would have gotten in this year as well, and I'm pulling for Bagwell to make it too.
  11. Try the 48th-scale Arii/Airfix F6F Hellcat. You can put it together in a weekend with little effort, it practically falls together, and is pretty well detailed. I'd also highly recommend the 1/48 Monogram Bf109. I've built two of these and they've been two of my most enjoyable builds. Again, it falls together and has good enough detail that you don't need to go haywire with aftermarket to make it look good.
  12. I build them the way they will look "cool" to me. If that means taking a few creative liberties with the paint scheme, armament, etc. then so be it. I want something that will be pleasing to look at on the shelf when it's finished while doing the highest level of work I can with what's there. Shape and paint scheme are the most important things to me. If the shape is accurate or close to accurate, it's good enough. I don't care if some antennas are missing, or they're in the wrong place, etc. Those are minute details and I don't think they do much for the overall effect of the finished model.
  13. Baseball is life. The rest is just details. Still waiting for a Cubs World Series...
  14. I used the same technique as Ron. I used my printer to make a paper copy of the walkway, then used that as a stencil. I sprayed the walkway and then used the black outline off the decal sheet. I'm sure you could spray the black area first and then use a copy of the decal sheet to paint the gray walkway area over the black. I think Cutting Edge made USAF Phantom walkways at one point, but I'm sure those are quite hard to come by now.
