  1. How come steam rollers don't roll steam?
  2. Methyl ethyl ketone. Similar-ish-ly to acetone and REALLY strong smelling stuff!!
  3. Brilliant idea! Definately using that one! Jim
  4. I've never heard of the de-gassing required? I sprayed mine directly into my airbrush (it is gravity fed) and sprayed right away with no hassles at all. I don't recall seeing bubbles either, though to be fair I wasn't expecting too see any and wouldn't have looked. This method can still be used to decant into containers to rest during the degassing stage. It's all new to me :) Jim.
  5. I had never decanted from spray cans before but thought I'd try as I got some Krylon fusion gloss to use as a base for Alclad. All the info on the interweb showed very messy ways to decant. So I had a quick think and a quick rummage and came up with this.. Use a cheap plastic pipette and a small tube connection (found on CRC/WD40 type cans for directing spray into smaller areas) I cut the end off the pipette and also a small amount off the tip then jammed the small pipe into it, cut the small tube leaving 1/4" sticking out. Then simply press the small end onto the nozzle of the spray ca
  6. What!? That's spam?!?? So that beautiful European lass doesn't love me?? And I suppose now you're gana tell me them kind Nigerians who are shortly to send me A LOT of money are just spamming liars too. :wmsmiley-poop-hits-the-fan:/> :)/>

  8. Beautiful build! Love the scooter :)
  9. Wow thanks for sharing that, never knew! Now you've got a plan B if you make a Me-262 and its a tail sitter! :P/>
  10. Truly incredible! To think how many 'home videos' were taken during WW2 that might be hidden away in someones old storage shed right now.
  11. What a wonderful build! I didn't know there were tail dragger jets. Jim
  12. Lovely build! Thats a brilliant idea, thanks for sharing that I will be trying that for sure! Jim
  13. Thanks for that info Corey, I spent ages with uncle Google and couldn't find anyone that did a conversion. I will email him now. Yep I see that now too, be a bit too much hacking for my liking. Heres a simple plan of the two aircraft where you can clearly see the difference. The Venturas nacelles going further aft than the Lodestars. There will be the odd patch up required, like removing the lower aft gun position but that to me seems pretty straight forward by comparison. I bit the bullet last night and bought the Revell Ventura. Now the search goes on for CA's Hudson or Super Electr
  14. Thanks for that agboak That clears the "wing thing" up. So I could even get away with the Ventura kit and buy some after market cyclone radials with cowls, there's bound to be some aircraft with the same cowls as the Lodestar just need to dig a bit deeper research-wise, and that might be easier than finding someone willing to part with their Super Electra or Hudson. Even regarding the empennage It seems I might be OK with the Ventura's. maybe a little resribing to match. Its looking a lot easier than I thought to get the general shape I'm after. Cheers, Jim
  15. Howdy all, I have been wanting to do a 1/48 Lodestar for a while now, as my skills are slowly getting better I thought it a good time to look into this a bit more. I've had a good look around here, asked Uncle Google and as far as I can find there aren't any 1/48 Lockheed Lodestar stand alone kits or conversion sets, but it seems like if I wanted to get the best starting point without hacking too much into things, or major scratch building I would need either or all of: Classic airframes 1/48 Super Electra or Classic airframes 1/48 hudson Revell 1/48 PV-1 Ventura As I understand the Lodes
  16. Ever heard of the Mi-8MTB-1? I'm lucky enough to share the apron with a couple of them here in Nepal. These nice chaps from Ukraine tell me they've got some more powerful engines, and after that I was told some more but my memory got a bit fuzzy, generally to do with high alt ops... BUT I do remember being told this particular chopper is one of only two in the world which can have an extra cockpit installed in the rear cabin and also flown from there for sling loading! :) I will see if he's got any pics of it installed. While I got you here, I'm doing a 72nd scale on this chopper but c
  17. Gidday folks! Title says it all. I'm hoping to find some UN WFP decals in 72nd scale for a Mi-8 chopper, the main trouble I'm having is finding decasl with the UN WFP symbol Any info shared with a successful outcome I will try and arrange a knighthood or something like that* * N.B Cannot guaruntee you will be knighted or something like that
  18. I'm still here and still truckin along :) been hiding in the corner peaking at everyones work, might learn how to drive me own thread and do some WIP, sort of a 'what not to do' for modellers  The extra 6months has come at the perfect time! I'm very happy
