  1. So I was able to pick up the newish Revell 1/72nd DC-4 kit with the Balair markings. I really wanted the C-54 but this one was cheaper. What I would really like to do is use the Belcher Bits conversion and produce the RCAF North Star. Is there a lot of difference between the two kits? I have never seen the inside of the C-54 box but from photos on the side it looks like more military style seating while the DC-4 kit has the typical airliner seating. Thanks for any info.
  2. Great work there. I did not know that issue with the weapons bay doors. Good catch. Gotta remember that when I start mine.
  3. I was excited about a 1/72nd VC-10 until I read Mach 2. My friends have a couple of their kits and they don't have good things to say about them. I have seen them too and modelling life is too short to fight with these. I wonder if Airfix might grace us with a new one in the coming years? I have their original 1/144 version and it is okay.
  4. Good to see some RCAF options Kursad. Don't have the CH-47F yet but maybe now is the time to get it. I do have the first issue though and will plan something else for that.
  5. People have it in their hands already so it is released and out there. Try some of the on line stores too.
  6. Steve thanks for the info. Sorry by intakes I meant the ones on the underside. Or are those exhausts. Also as for the decals in the cockpit, this kit was originally released by ESCI in 1980 so at that time that was what ESCI did. Detail sets exist to update the cockpit but I believe that is for the S-3B version. Yeah I am not a big fan of the Eduard cockpit sets as they are too flat I think.
  7. This looks so cool Ken. It must be pretty big in 1/72nd so I may be interested in getting this kit even though I normally build 1./48. But I can probably live with it as it will be big.
  8. Good project there Steve. Whose detail sets are you using for the intakes? I looked at your pictures and can't see where those pieces are from. Also I am sure you know how big these will be when done right? I built the original ESCI kit when it came out and thank goodness my display case i deep as it barely fits. Oh and not sure if you are aware, when Italeri got these moulds from ESCI they changed the smoke density on the canopies. The pieces are way too dark, well at least on the AMT ES-3A for sure. Squadron had a replacement canopy but not sure if it is available sti
  9. Wow so cool. Those aftermarket sets, what were they? I know the Attack Squadron is probably the engine nacelles.
  10. Hi Ilias It is really great you will be carrying more helicopter items for us rotor heads. I have been looking at your site for quite some time but have not been able to get around to actually picking up something. You do have a great selection and will try and get an order done soon.
  11. Yeah if you try to post directly it is a pain. Much easier to have some off site photo hosting (NOT Photobucket). I use Flickr for photo hosting. I use irfanview 64 to resize my photos. It is a free program and I think very good.
  12. Well Royale Resin has wheels for 1/48 A-7s so maybe I can ask if he can upscale them. His site is down now as he is moving but email should work.
  13. Thanks for the info Fred. I for one was surprised how much stuff they were issuing recently and a lot in my scale. I see there is an ebay seller who carries a lot of the Reskit stuff but not sure if it is Reskit themselves as he is in the Ukraine. I think I may just go the direct route.
  14. I bought the 1/32nd A-7 set with the canopy corrections in 2010 at the IPMS USA Nats in Phoenix. I can't remember what I paid for it but it was reasonable. Now it is not in production any more as he cannot get the canopy sets made. Anyway the reason I bring this up is that I recall someone hot and heavy to buy my set and was willing to pay $300 for it. Yes I could have made a ton but felt like that was gouging and believe it or not I might actually build it as I do love the A-7. Did not even have the kit at the time but figured I could always get that and I was right. My new moto is get the re
  15. Wow what an interesting subject Kursad. I guess I am not up on my Apaches as I did not know some of those operators existed. Qatar would be interesting. Geeze Louise I need to get more Hasegawa kits.
  16. Yeah you may be right. I have been collecting some add-ons to do the Black Buck version. My 1/72nd friend gave me some Shrikes and pylons but not sure right type. I want to do 2 Vulcans, one the Black Buck and the other the version that participated at Red Flag with the desert camo underside. Dreams are great.
  17. Well I am happy even though it is not my scale of 1/48. But having said that I keep my bomber mostly in 1/72 as they are plenty big enough. I may get started on my very old Airfix kit find I have a few update sets like Two Mike's resin intakes. By the way I will have to some research but I don't think I can do a Black Buck Vulcan with this first release right?
  18. Yeah I thought it was a hoax as it seems inconceivable that something like that would happen considering the way they kept the Hellcat secret. Although having said that, it does make sense as it is right in line with their V bomber series. I hope so as I too have the old Airfix kit and I shudder every time I open the box.
  19. Wow different. Caracal always blazing a trail. Should be a good seller. Thank you Kursad.
  20. Well I could not get in last night or it was just messed up. However this morning it is fine. It probably needed some rest. All good now. Interesting too that it told me I had new messages but they were old ones but makes sense since Steve reset to a few days ago.
  21. In the deep reaches of my memory I am sure someone issued that New York sheet. These F-4s were based out of Niagara Falls right? Maybe it was by Afterburner? Superscale. I will check my stash as I think I have it. The New Jersey tiger one too seems to sound familiar.
  22. Just picked up the 1/144 kit today so I am ready for the smaller scale release.
  23. Oh and don't be cheap and go to Dollarama (Canadian chain). Bought 10 sanding sticks for $1. Yup probably ok for the what it was meant for but I always wet sand and they fell apart. Made of card stock and some sort of crappy glue.
  24. Sorry don't know who makes those for Spruebrothers. Recently my wife bought me some for the ridiculous price of $0.89 CDN. Lots of different grits and I especially like the polishing ones, which I use for the canopies. She got them at a local beauty supply store. They normally supply products to hair dressers (or are they called hair technicians now?). Not sure if you need a special card to buy from them though.
  25. The last time I did something like this I used some aluminum foil. Simply draw a diamond pattern in pencil and it embosses the foil. Flip it over and you have your pattern. You may need to try it on some paper first to figure out how big the diamonds should be. Use some white glue to stick it to the side wall. I used it on my 1/48th kit and I used lead foil from a wine bottle.
