  1. Hi Guys Ok here is the scoop. I spoke to Joe Friday night and he asked me to post something here. As you can probably see from his site it is closed until September 23 due to his mother passing away. As far as the Aurora sheet is concerned, the instructions will be ready next week so he hopes to be printing and shipping soon after that. As Steve B had reviewed here some time ago, the decals are printed. I had them in my hands and passed them to Steve for review. However, when Joe sent a couple of the sheets for review to some others, he got back some suggestions on a couple of improvements.
  2. JR I have that kit. I will scan and send you the scan so you can see.
  3. Bill I have this kit. I can scan and send your way. No problem.
  4. If you're talking about the Italeri Ka-50 Hokum, as others have said there is an Eduard set. There is also a full resin cockpit produced by Heliborne. I believe it is produced by Neomega FOR Heliborne. If you drop in at www.lindenhillimports.com and check out their Heliborne section it is still listed. As for the Eduard set, I have it and personally I don't think you can use everything. For one thing Eduard will have you change out the rotor control rods with etch. So you are changing round pieces with flat pieces. In 1/72nd, yeah it works, but not in 1/48. The Italeri pieces are not so bad.
  5. Darren That is a sweet Phantom even more so it is the Monogram kit :) . I made my S version using the ESCI version which was a pile of work. I have also built two Monogram ones but only have one survivor. Even though I have a slew of the Hasegawa kits, I kept a couple of the Monogram kits. I think they are underrated and cheap compared to their Japanese brothers. I wonder if anyone has ever done a side by side comparison of the Monogram and Hasegawa Phantoms. That should prove interesting.
  6. Mike I will let Steve fill you in at the show but there is a special initiation ceremony involving a beaver and some maple syrup that you will have to go through to become a honorary Canadian
  7. Well I was just about to pick up the Hasegawa kit so I am holding on to my money. This is really exciting news. I already have 3 Fujimi kits, 1 A and 2 C versions so I will be donating them to my 1/72 scale buddies. I had high hopes for Special Hobby but I would gladly accept Kinetic's release. Just to have the Hawkeye in 1/48 would be wonderful. I have already been looking at markings to do the Mexican Navy version since it looks like that is they are only ones with some sort of camo scheme.
  8. Jennings You may have seen this site but here is link for some prints of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy's SH-3, one of my favourite schemes. Love those blues. http://www.aviationgraphic.com/sparta/inde...nt&pid=1349 Now if I can find some decals I will be in Heaven.
  9. Errr, no, but in case you want to see the quality of the moulding. Remember this is not Hasegawa or Tamiya here. Chris
  10. Gary If you ever need to see the kits, I have two versions, the German UH-34 and the Brit Wessex. I also have the CE set so you can see what that looks like too. I sure am thankful that I bought them when I did since they are long gone and from what the guys have been saying over on Helikit news, don't expect to see them back. Something about damaged moulds. Maybe Revell will cut new moulds. I can dream I guess. Cheers Chris
  11. Daryl I think we will be steering away from anything with a boat hull. Makes it simpler.
  12. I've had the Airfix kit and got rid of it many years ago as soon as the the Monogram kit was issued. When Airfix released theirs it was the only game in town. From what I read the shapes are a touch better on the Airfix kit but compared to the Monogram kit, the Monogram version is SOOOO much better. It must be something with Airfix and their mould makers. Somehow everything looks so soft. The people who buy stuff on ebay at the prices they do makes me shake my head. The mare fact that they are bidding on something USING a computer means that they can also search the net for the item. I can u
  13. PV-2 I could go with as well as the Hudson. Privateer is a definite. I think the Lancaster was more a search and rescue but I may be wrong here. I keep seeing SAR on Red bands in my mind when I think of CDN Lancs.
  14. Yeah the Tu-142 is a "Bear". Also, you see I put the Lib on the list since I remember that Aviaology recently released some CDN sheets for maritime patrol. I was wondering about the Alizé but I think that is more ECM than Sub hunting?
  15. Jennings Did you manage to get your copy of the Kecav book? I just received mine this week from Air Connection here in Canada. Holy cow I am in Heaven. I finally see some photos of my favourite assemby ship scheme. It is B-24D You Cawn't Miss It in overall black and yellow checkerboard. Now to find some more B-24Ds.
  16. You know I think I should talk to Graham and we can make a list of eligible aircraft. That way if it is not on the list then it is a no-no. I would think this would then make it easier to decide if you want to take part or not. How about this definition from Wikipedia A Maritime patrol aircraft, also simply patrol aircraft, or by the older term patrol bomber, is a fixed wing aircraft designed to operate for long durations over water in maritime patrol, anti-shipping, anti submarine and search and rescue roles. I think we can eliminate the search and rescue component as well as any aircraft
  17. Wow, finally something to update the kits. Personally I only have 2 of the kits and even then one of them is started (badly) but I took it from the guy as I think I can salvage it. You know with Italeri having that kit in their 1/72nd stable you would think they would do something for us larger scale guys. Hmmm, come to think of it I also have a Cutting Edge set. Oh well the more sets the merrier. cheers Chris
  18. I beg to differ Fred, I would rather have a nice F-5A so I can do a series of CF-5 aircraft. My knees are raw from all the praying to the plastic gods.
  19. Looks great!! It is amazing how so few of these F-5 kits I've seen built since their release. I myself have several in the stash but after having a really close look at the pieces I put it back in the box. One of our club members recently finished one and he said he had to struggle through the build. It came out ok in the end but he was not really happy with it. Seems that is a common consensus of the kit. After seeing yours maybe I should rethink my decision to build it. I will use your list as a guideline. Thanks for posting it. Cheers Chris
  20. I thought I saw somewhere that Special Hobby (I think) is releasig a 1/48 Hawkeye next year 2007. As they say, I'll believe it when I touch it. Chris
  21. Randy, looks great so far. Could you tell me what you are using for reference, other than what is in the walk around section of ARC? Thanks Chris
  22. Roy Have you checked at Flightdecs here in Canada? The web address is http://www.flightdecs.ca Go to the Flying Colors Aerodecals section where you will see many sheets for Swedish aircraft. Not sure of the quality as I have not used any as yet but they look okay. Others on this board may know better. Cheers Chris
  23. Ok under what rock was I hiding and I am only now finding out about this set. Geez louise, my work is really getting in the way of my hobby when I don't even know what is going on in the Zactoman world. Great work as per usual Chris and after I just ordered your Su-27 set I now have to send you even more money. You know I don't even know why I bother. Why don't I just give you my bank account info and every time you make an update set you just take my money :D I was not even going to pick up this kit since it really did not look correct right out of the gate but seeing your stuff, now I am
  24. Chris It was so good to hear about the intakes being ready. They look absolutely beautiful on your site and seem to be a real labour of love. I am glad I waited a bit to get all 3 sets, so I can save on some shipping (sorry I'm cheap ) I've been trying to get the aftermarket stuff for the Su-27 but it has been proving difficult. I've got several of the goodies but I am still short the Aires exhaust set. They have been out of stock many places. Must be all the guys on this thread buying them up I will be ordering the combo set this weekend and I certainly don't mind the wait for such a qua
  25. As they say in some circles "never say never"......
