  1. Someone already having the kit: could you provide the tamiya paint refs for paint schemes? Thx in advance
  2. I think the least profitable for Tamiya in case of a two seat F-16, wouldn't be the tooling itself but the necessary investment for new decals + new packaging +marketing +stock, when you compare it with the quantity you can sell.
  3. Optronics, no electronics. Optronics and in particular optic systems use mobile parts who need tight tolerances and do not like shocks, vibrations etc.
  4. Thx. I didn't konw these Emboss fonction. Nice work and in particular nice workflow.
  5. Hello, just curious: how do you do external triangular radial webbing? Nice work.
  6. Really nice. Do the cruise missiles come with this kit?
  7. MT is a japanese tape brand, they have numerous types of tapes, some washi made. The important part for us, modelers, isn't the washi part of the tape but the strength and durability of the glue on the tape. MT most known washi tapes are made for decoration. 3M 243J are made for paintshops, to mask real cars and to resist high pressure spray, infiltration and chemical thinners.
  8. These are GE F110 exhausts, not F414 ones. Maybe they mess up at the packaging stage.
  9. There's no "Tamiya Washi tape", Tamiya doesn't have a washi tape plant, they're just rebranding some from washi tape manufacturers. Washi tape was invented by 3M Japan, so if you want some, instead buying MT tapes (different brand, different caracteristics), find a 3M seller and ask him some 243J plus Washi tape.
  10. Maybe new composition of airwings with 2 Echo Sq + F-35C or 3 Echo Sq, and only one F squadron. CVW-1 had 2 (VFA-11 and VFA-211) previously.
  11. It depends on the period, location and mission. OEF: GBU-12, GBU-16 and Mk-8X OIF I & II: GBU-12, GBU-31 then GBU-38, GBU-12, sometimes L-MAV OIR, Iraq and elsewhere GBU-38, GBU-54, GBU-12 then GBU-32, GBU-54, GBU-38, GBU-12 then GBU-12 disappeared then GBU-38 disappeared. Nowadays, GBU-54 has the lion's share.
  12. 4 x GBU-16 was a very old loadout, current when first Superhornet a/c were deployed with VFA-115. And I remember maybe one pic of a Superhornet with a GBU-24. IMHA, these loadout (GBU-24 in particular) is provided because of the Topgun 2 trailer.
  13. It reminds me this 😅: It's the same problem. The author didn't know how to smooth his curves, so some circles became 64 edge polygones. CAD beginner mistake. And the Aires part's problem is called voxel lines, it's pretty cosmetic, you can solve it changing the print angle.
  14. It's already said by Tamiya: 4 Sparrows, 4 Sidewinders and fuel tanks.
  15. Ebay is the worst place to buy japanese model kits and model kits in general, brand new Tamiya kits in particular. On Ebay, prices, customer's and seller's behaviours don't fellow a logical pattern.
  16. If you are so sure it will sell, why not launch a kickstarter? Truth is, a new mold (design+production+dvt), in particular for clear parts, has a significant cost. New decals design and printing has a cost. New boxing has a cost, new instruction sheet too. Now, make a poll and survey how many people will (and not wish) really buy this kit. I really doubt you will cover your costs.
  17. And CSAR, Combat Search and Rescue. The second seat allows the team NFO+WSO to perform the Rescue Commander role.
  18. Great. They use the same design choice for the front canopy than the F-14 one. Way to go!
  19. The profile is wrong, but it's a very easy fix, few minutes with a sandsponge. Academy fixed it few years later.
  20. Really like the whole, technics and quality of the pics. What oil color did you use for this wash, is it a mix? The slightly purple shift really suits with the hornet TPS.
  21. Just hope they will provide a real something the HAS doesn't have.
  22. You can click on the comparison views given by Solo, just above. His pics are macro, so you can easily catch the difference. Panel and rivet lines are exactly the same. Better rendered details on the Hasegawa. Panel and rivet lines are more refined on the Hasegawa, but Meng ones are pretty good. So at this point, the kit is not as good as the Hasegawa, but is really good because you've got to know the a/c and the HAS kit to spot the difference.
  23. They released some pics today. LAU-127s and stuff.
  24. With last boxings and the updated molds for the Growler kit, you can make a pretty decent BlockII (E or F) OOB. You've got the penultimate nose landing gear doors, ACS cockpit, ECS new vents.
