  1. The Trumpeter Challenger 2 Enhanced Armour kit is also pretty good, it has upgraded parts compared to the original release, including an all new turret moulding and of course has the Bar Armour too.
  2. Likewise it brings back fond memories for me also, the bright orange scheme was one of the options in the Hasegawa kit way back in the 70's it just happened to be the first Hasegawa kit that I bought, I had read lots about them in model magazines but had never come across anywhere that stocked them, then whilst on a family summer holiday I found a model shop that stocked them and this was the box top scheme, it was just too gorgeous to resist, and there started my interest in US Navair subjects. Oh yes I wish that was the case too.
  3. A few more added: Accurate Miniatures 1/48 Double Dauntless SDD-3 / 4 Midway / Operation Torch. Monogram 1/48 A-4E Skyhawk Blue Angels Matchbox 1/72 HP Victor K.2 Hasegawa 1/72 McD-D F-18 Prototype Airfix 1/72 RAF Refuelling Set http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ant_phillips/m.html?item=182585874574&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 This is probably the last batch of kits for now, but I will be listing a whole bunch of 1/144 airliner decals in the next few weeks.
  4. Thank you both for your input, it's very much appreciated.
  5. Cheers Rex, that's great info, I'm familiar with the picture you posted, I'm sure I've seen that one labelled as from the Saratoga in early '77. I'm quietly confident that I could reproduce the Sandeman figure on the tail, as there's quite a few pics about of it. Happy modelling Ant
  6. Hi Rex, I'm familiar with the Go Navy site, but completely forgot about the Bu.No listings, the information about the EA-3B came from the Aeromaster instructions, the foreword is written by Ken Austin who I believe was a crewmember (it may be his photo's that are used in the instruction booklet), Ken states: "Our first stop (as for all carriers) was Rota, Spain where we would pick up supplies and take on our spyplanes, EA-3B's of VQ-2 based at Rota" I've found a few pictures of EA-3B's from the late 70's period aboard other carriers and at the Air Tattoo at
  7. Hi all, I have a long term project on the go to build a representative aircraft from all the units of CVW-8 onboard the USS Nimitz, I have the Aeromaster 1/48 CVW-8 special decal set which includes the bulk of the units as below: F-14A Tomcat - VF-41 & 84 A-7E Corsair II - VA-82 & 86 A-6E & KA-6D Intruder - VA-35 EA-6B Prowler - VAQ-135 S-3 Viking - VS-24 SH-3 Sea King - HS-9 That just leaves me three (maybe 4) units to source, the kits for these weren't available when this set was released: RA-5C Vigilan
  8. Great build, but the Viggie just doesn't look right in camo.
  9. Squadron do a vac canopy, but its designed for the Hasegawa kit, I don't know if it will fit the Monogram kit. I do have examples of both the Monogram and Hasegawa (Eduard) kit, I could try the canopy's on each to see what if any the difference is.

  12. I don't know of any plans, but you can get ready made bases here: http://www.coastalkits.co.uk/newstore/carrier-decks/1-48-scale-carrier-decks.html I have no connection to the vendor, just an active interest in their products
  13. New update, some 1/72 airliners freighters and utility aircraft; Constellations, DC-6, C-119, Superfreighter, Fokker F27, listings here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ant_phillips/m.html?item=182585874574&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Thanks for looking.
  14. A quick update, the last of the airliner kits are listed now, they end next weekend, they are mostly bagged kits, some are without decals, this is reflected in the prices. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ant_phillips/m.html?item=182540157552&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 The next batch of stuff will be the airliner decals, they'll probably go up next weekend.
  15. More items added, mostly 1/144 airliners this week, from Airfix, Revell and Minicraft, a 1/96 Viscount plus a couple of odd 1/35 figure kits. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ant_phillips/m.html?item=182540157552&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  16. I use wheel balancing weights, I get them off ebay, they have a self adhesive backing and come in a strip of convenient 5g, 10g & 25g weights, simply snap the size you need off the strip and use the self adhesive pad to stick them under the cockpit floor or in the nose above the nosewheel well.
  17. To share our experiences and learn from each other is what being part of the forums is all about as far as I'm concerned, I'm not aware of anyone ever trying to or be able to copyright a technique.
  18. All the above items have been sold, I've got some new items up this week, take a look here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ant_phillips/m.html?item=182477901650&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Thanks for looking. Ant
  19. The Hawk your referring to wasn't actually in Squadron service, it was the station flight aircraft for RAF St. Athan (formerly the RAF's main fast jet deep maintenance base, sadly no more). IIRC there were 2 versions one with a Black Dragon on the standard Red, White & Blue trainer aircraft scheme and 1 with a Red Dragon on the later overall black trainer scheme.
  20. Hopefully the FB post will put to rest the negative posts and shut up the naysayers.
  21. I find my interest in all things Soviet and Russian has waned for the time being and would like to convert some of my stash into cash for future projects. I've got a small selection of kits but most come with aftermarket detail sets / parts all are 1/48 scale and are unstarted. See my listings here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ant_phillips/m.html?item=182477901650&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Thanks for looking and happy modelling. Ant
  22. Lovely clean build, what's not to like.
  23. Hi Dave, If you look at the next picture in the sequence it shows a rear view of the same aircraft a split second after launch and it looks like more (certainly at least one more) GBU-31's on the opposite side.
  24. I accidentally sprayed the unprimed nosecone of an Academy MiG-21, and found they do adhere very well to bare plastic, although they do recommend spraying onto a primer.
