  1. I think I have the pods from an old Hasegawa Harrier, either an AV-8A or FRS-1 kit. Are they the same as the later -7 and -9 pods?
  2. I agree with rusty; compared to the asking prices for just about every other 'new tool' kit, and even a fair share of old dogs in new boxes (ahem, Italeri.........) the Meng kit price is MORE than reasonable. I may grab one shortly.
  3. Hmm, that goes contrary to what I've heard most others say? AFAIK, the only real shape problem with the Bilek/Italeri Su's is the cockpit transparency being off and too small.
  4. You would do just as well to run away from the Airfix kit. It was first molded in 1959, and has it's share of woeful inaccuracies, and a weird mix of prototype/PAN and early R1. To say the kit is also very, very basic would be an understatement..... Here is some work I'm doing on one (will be adding another update to it today): Un Piccola Fiat, Airfix
  5. Coming along nicely. Looks like a Phantom, that's what counts.
  6. Top-notch work as usual, Juan! Your Viggens are a pleasure to look at.
  7. Been using Sunbelt's "VIPRE" suite for four years. Not a single bad thing has gotten through it, and the cost is very reasonable. It also has a very very low impact on the system, unlike the big named AV suites, no annoying pop up ads or stupid gimmicky alarm sounds, etc.
  8. Dogsbody, that's pretty bizarre; as far as I'm aware, there are only two boxings of the newer tool Condor, the C-5/C-8 (#04387) and the C-4 (#04678), and I don't think either included all those sprues. So where did that box with all of the sprues included come from, and how did it happen?
  9. I'll be using the kit decals for 14 Gruppo 2 Stormo in 1980.
  10. No, I didn't post it up on ARC Filipe; I do have it up on another forum. It's a very crude kit, the Airfix mold was made back in 1959.....I'm just trying to make acceptable enough for an in-flight display. One day I will have to get a modern kit of the Gina. Mine is here: Airfix G.91R
  11. Very helpful, Filipe. I'll give that a try on one of my next jet aircraft, thanks for the tip
  12. Filipe, how did you go about making those intakes? Those turned out superb.
  13. Chris, the picture you're talking about where they appear not to be sitting flat is because I inadvertently had the tail pushed up on the curve of my poster board backdrop for the photo. Rest assured, they sit flat
  14. Looks to me like you need to put spreader bars in between the fuselage halves, along the bottom where the assembled fuselage sits over/in the wing assembly.
  15. Any plans on putting the Albatros sheet out in 72nd?
  16. Sadly, most all of the major media outlets these days think that only sensationalism will garner viewers. Also sadly, is the fact that they're probably correct, as a majority of people don't like to think very hard or ferret out actual facts on their own.
  17. Well, here she is. I've done about as much as I can to "finish" this one. For some reason, this kit fought me the whole way through. Anything that could go wrong during the build and painting, well it went wrong, right up to five minutes before taking these photos. As I feared, my 'subtle' fading disappeared during the finishing process. There are plenty of screw-ups and things I forgot to do, but at least it's OVER. I may eventually go back and finish building the tricky guards that were part of the rocket launcher rails (to protect the 100gal tanks) on the Coastal Command Mossies; an
  18. Do as Litvyak suggested. Airfix has the most exceptional service in regards to damaged, missing, or sometimes even just "could I get..." service. I've received entire replacement sprues and decal sheets from them free of charge and quickly over the past few years. And if it's an OOP item, they'll look for parts first and then if they don't find any they will let you know. Top notch.
  19. That's an amazing piece of work there
  20. Just finished this up, the ancient but quite nicely molded Frog Fokker D.XXI from out of the Air Lines(1964!) boxing. Number 215 at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, 1939. From this: To these: The decals in the box were damaged, so all markings were masked and sprayed; still working on hand-painting the "Fokker" scripts onto decal film for the rudder fin. And the kit canopy became hopelessly cracked while I was polishing it, necessitating a vacuformed copy after re-working it with CA... And of course then I also had to do a full interior. So much for a 'quick kit'. All in all
  21. BUT...whatever you do, of course use a very light touch, and beware of catching an edge with the wheel.....ask me how I know. Always approach any sharp edges or angles on the model with the rotation of the wheel moving away and up (I hope that makes sense) or you risk it digging in and burning/gouging.
  22. By 'white buffing wheel' I'm assuming you mean the one that's made of some sort of compacted material; I do not recommend you try with that, unless you have a method to slow your Dremel down below it's minimum speed of 5,000rpm. You should try using the cloth polishing wheel instead: http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSL7QfNdzVbEbjjnnXdk8g9QqVzDdmfNG7z9LGY6XRYSfAWoUGivOmiNfjs8A
  23. As well as this: Bulgarian MiG-17PF The 'bort' number is reversed but I'm convinced the art work you display is what is at fault and should be "21" not "12" as the one in the picture I posted.
  24. Check in your local area for any places that do "custom graphics" or sign shops; they're usually the self-adhesive vinyl kind such as what the kids put on their cars and what not. You should be able to get some of the material from them.
  25. Recently (almost)completed: Airfix CA-19 Boomerang, Torokina airstrip Bouganville Island 1945. Still have to finish off a display base for her; pitot has broken off several times (missing in pics) and a rear view mirror was added. Small bit of in-progress: The rest of it can be seen here: Ancient Airfix Boomerang
