  1. Erm, OK. Well done you! :( Anthony 'that newbie' L.
  2. Hey Chuk, glad to hear my masking suggestion worked out. That's my good deed for the day done. Looking forward to the next update.
  3. I have heard of and considered the stretchy plastic bag method, but was put off this method as I wasn't sure how I would be able to ensure the masked area would be perfectly level / parallel to the base of the spinner. How did you manage to achieve this, as it sounds like a fantastically simple solution to the problem ?!? Apologies for this minor hijack.
  4. Hi Chuk, I had a similar problem trying to mask the spinners for a 1:48th Mosquito I'm building. They required a blue spinner with a thin white band. I tried to use masks and masking tape cut into various shapes, but the best solution I came up with was to cover the entire spinner with masking tape, then using a flat surface, a stack of post-it notes and a new 10A blade, made a cutting surface gauge. Something like this ... Using a spare spinner, it worked really well, leaving a perfect thin tape strip. I just gently rotated the spinner against the blade, trying to press hard enough to
  5. Superb build. Any chance you could describe how you painted the spinners? i.e. masking technique used, sequence of painting etc.
  6. Just wanted to add my congratulations and appreciation for a fantastic build and WIP thread. I've been following this for months and have enjoyed it all the way, and learned a lot. I look forward to the next one.

  8. Hi All, I'm (obviously) new here, so, first off, hello everyone! Anyway, apologies if this has been asked before, or is seemingly obvious ... After a long break, I've returned to aircraft modelling and to get back into it, I'm building a series of 1:48 scale WWII fighters, starting with a Mk1 Hurricane. My problem is with the undercarridge colour suggested by airfix i.e. humbrol matt no. 90. It's a light green, but after testing it on some paper, it just doesn't look right. I've not got great reference photos to use as a guide, but the ones I have vary from a light grey to a bone / cream
