  1. Each pod has 3 zones - the outer ring of 12, inner ring of 4 and central line of 3. This allows you to load different types of rockets in the same pod and the targeting system to adjust its ballistic solutions accordingly. Each zone has to have the same type of rocket, but you can load up to 3 different types of rockets per pod.

Well I just learned something today. Guess I can leave the office and spend the day at my bench. Thanks Cobrahistorian!

  2. I'd love to add my pics, but I don't have any, and the model is in storage somewhere at my parent's home. I had hung it from the ceiling since it is a monster. I'd like to take another crack at this one sometime.

    Good luck with your build.

  3. Well, no update photos, though I hope to have some posted later this weekend. But I was daydreaming when an idea for some nose art hit me. I'm naming this beast "BOHICA".

That's right: Bend Over, Here It Comes Again.

That was a phrase we used to use just about every time there was a change to "the plan" for whatever exercise we were doing. Because we knew to brace for impact. Our company took to calling ourselves "the Last of the Bohicans" it happened so much.

Now I need to find some suitably inappropriate pin-up art of the female form and figure out how to make some decals.

  4. Anyone have some good shots of the wingfolds on either plane? I'm wanting to use them to engineer wing folds for another USMC A-10 that I'm planning on building with wingfolds, tailhook and other mods so it could operate off a carrier.

Whoops, Guess this should be in the props section, but I figure if the wing folds will eventually go on an A-10, it's all good.

  5. X-49 for those of you who have no idea what he's talking about...

    Another photo

    And yes, it's flown.

I was just about to google X-49.

You can't even see where they used rigger's tape to hold it all together in those pics! Is that the answer to "What happens when a Cessna and a Blackhawk have a one night stand?"

Cheyennes escorting Ospreys into the LZ would be mind-blowing.

  6. I was just doing random searches on Greatmodels and came across a listing for an HH-3E in 1/48. It's a Lindberg kit, so I have absolutely no idea on shortcomings or the like.

It has an expected release date of 1st Quarter 2008 according to GM's site. Who knows if we'll see it then or not, but at least its something, right?

  7. Lump-sum re-enlistment bonuses up to $80,000..............UMmmmmm NO!!!!! :D

I don't know about the lump sum business, but some of the EOD bubbas are looking to make some nice coin for signing on for another hitch. Heck I'm looking at about 20 grand (before Uncle takes his cut) when I raise my hand and take the oath for another four in the Corps!

I REALLY do wish we could take the MC out of NMCI!

  8. I read that it was an engine fire and that there is an investigation to find the cause.

Does Class A mean the whole airframe is a write-off? I thought it meant at least $1 million in damages.

This one doesn't sound as bad as the one that decided to fly without a crew during an engine check at New River.

It's barely begun active service and already some are calling for it to go the boneyard? That's a great use of taxpayer dollars...No other airframe has had problems during its development? Really?

I think the bigger waste of money is the albatross that is NMCI. Fortunately that can't kill anyone, unless there's a virus out there than can mutate off an email and infect a user...

  9. Yeah, its not my fault the monitor changed my orders from Cherry Point to Quantico. Why do I get excluded from the country I'm defending based on where I live?

You need to tighten that radius to one (or two) particular and unique buildings that house the highest per capita production of hot air and paperwork that does almost nothing in the world.
