  1. Ray, Nice job. What color gray is that on the wings? I am using MM enamels. I am unsure exactly what "Boeing Gray" is. I was just going to use a "light aircraft gray." Buzz, You surmise correctly. The US Air NMF scheme is the one. That pic is a good shot with lots of little useful painting details. Someone told me years ago that those trailing edge wing fairings were conformal fuel tanks. Obviously, looking at the articulations of the wing in that pic, they are not, as you have pointed out. However, it seems to me that the although the fairings are definitely gray, the rest of the
  2. Beautiful pic. Just gorgeous. Now does does anyone know where to get a pattern and color call out for this scheme? It is very busy and has some what appears to be a shadowing overlapping pattern design. Very nice. When Trump releases their 1/72 Flanker series next year(?), I will be first in line and looking for an SU-33 with folding wings and tails, accurate flap molding, offset IRST, shorter tail, etc. Am I asking for too much?
  3. The PIC of that plane and whoever went along with that stunt are just idiots. Flying a plane within a few feet of the ground like one might do in a video game does not a professional aviator make. They should be stripped of their wings. If they want to be that close to the ground, put them in the infantry!
  4. I guess it won't work because there is only one blue wolf decal on the sheet. Thanks anyway.
  5. Based on everything I have seen and read here, I think clearly the most popular jet medeling subject is the F-14. After that, I would say maybe the F-18. It seems to get a lot of attention here as well.
  6. I forgot to mention I'll pay for them!
  7. I guess the title says it all. If anyone has the TwoBobs 1/72 Navy 1 Santa tracker sheet and is going to build the Navy 1 and not the Santa Tracker version, I am interested in acquiring it if someone will give it up. I would like to build the Santa Tracker version. I should have bought it from TwoBobs when it came out. Thanks!
  8. I am doing a 737-200 and the painting intructions call for gray trailing edge on the top of the wing, but doesn't mention anything at all about the bottom of the wing or trailing edge fuel tanks. Are the tanks gray or NMF? If the tanks are gray, is the bottom of the wing partly gray also?
  9. SU-35 concept? Got a pic? Is that the brown/yellow thrust vectoring one? PAK FA? WHAT is that?
  10. Except for the good ole USA, It seems that ALL of the recent fighter designs have embraced the concept of canard foreplanes, to wit: Gripen, Lavi/J-10, Rafael, Eurofighter, late SU-series, Mig 1.44 ATF. Am I leaving any out? The American F-22 and F-35, which are more advanced aircraft than all of these (except maybe the Mig) do not have canards. I know we have tested them. Are they or are they not aerodynamically advantageous? Did we leave them off for stealth considerations? Is there American industrial bias against them? Anyone have any thoughts on this?
  11. Green/Blue scheme? Is that the basic dark green on top/light blue on the bottom look? The reason I ask is I have that kit and there is a way cool four color Nigerian wraparound camo scheme on a Hi-Decal sheet. It would make a plain, dog looking airplane (get it, Beagle, he he) into an unusual eye catcher.
  12. Even if you don't consider the Lavi a variant, it certainly is related. It is a big can of worms, because if you include the Lavi, you also have to include the Chinese J-10!

  14. I picked up a tube of this to experiment with for my 737 NMF. It is a finely ground metallic finish in a wax base. You apply it with your finger, soft cloth, or toothbrush (for tight spots). When it sort of dries, you buff it like anything else. I tried working the 737 engines with it and it looks great, but it doesn't seem to be drying completely. It seems like once it is on and polished, it still has to be handled very carefully, like maybe with cotton photo gloves. Don't know about how it will look when sealed. Anyone have expeience with this product? It comes in small tube for about
  15. Thanks Seamaster. The word on the street here is the 3M Blue stuff is wonderful, as you have described. I just wanted some broader input to confirm, especially since I am trying to pull off a NMF.
  16. Thanks, everyone, for all of the suggestions. No one here can vouch for the suitability of 3M Blue automotive glazing type putty for this?
  17. I am building the old Airfix 737-200 in US Air livery. This is a natural metal finish with a red stripe UNDER the cabin windows. I plan on representing the windows with decals. Given the location of the fuselage stripe and the fact that it is a NMF, it is critical that the mold outlines for the cabin windows be completely invisible. I used Squadron green putty to fill them in, and after 'normal' sanding, I used polishing cloths. But I can still distinctly feel where the windows are when I run my finger down the fuselage. My theory is that Squadron green putty is kinda soft so the sandpaper
  18. I don't know.... I have only seen pics of this bird in that prototype dark gloss gray scheme. Is this plane even being used by the Navy operationally? I know it was being evaluated alongside the Flanker, but the Navy seems to prefer the Flanker, 'cause that is all I have seen recent shipboard pics of.
  19. The TRDI model looks pretty slick. Very Raptorish. The F-22 is a huge step forward and will likely be the most advanced fighter in the world for many, many years to come. I also don't think it should be exported. Heck, I am on the fence about exporting the F-35 even. Maybe the SuperHornet should be the export limit for the time being, particularly now that it is turning heads.
  20. I built this YEARS ago. It is definitely 70's tech, but it should build up nice. I can't tell you about accuracy. It was a long time back.
  21. Check out LuckyModel.com. Thay have what appear to be CGI shots. Also they have a twin pack VF/VFA-103 Tomcat/SuperHornet kit as well.
  22. Yeah, and lets hope it comes with positionable flaps, slats, and folding wings.
  23. Oh, and in 32nd scale, ther is no reason you can't freehand this. No need to mask.
  24. Well, if you are doing camo the bigger the better as far as getting the lines right. The smaller the kit, the tougher it is. My advice is spray the lighter color first, then LIGHTLY pencil in the borders of the nest darkest color, and so on. After you are done, go back and touch all of your lines so they are consistent and as tight as you want them.
