  1. I wouldn't mind a set with the aircraft some POWs were flying when shot down. It opens up the options of: Dieter Dengler's A-1 John McCain's A-4 Robbie Risner's F-105 Leo Thorsness' F-105 Bud Day's F-100F Jim Stockdale's A-4 Bud Mahurin's F-86 Pappy Boyington's F4U Hub Zemke's P-51 Cliff Acree's OV-10 Jeff Zaun's A-6 Jeff Tice's F-16 John Peter's Tornado GR1 Just a thought. . .
  2. Here's what I have. It is a bird from the 318th. I will need to keep the instrument panel decals and the decals for the ASAT, but if you want the rest, they're yours. Shoot me a PM if interested.
  3. I think I have the old ESCI F-15 "Satellite Killer" kit with the ASAT, and it came with markings for the 318th. I wanted to build my kit as one of the test platforms that actually fired an ASAT, so I have no use for the 318th FIS decals. I can take a look and see if I still have them. If I do, and if you're interested I can send them your way.
  4. The Hobbyboss F-15C came with a set for the 65th. I'm not using them and can pass them along to you if you'd like.
  5. I just visited this shop a couple of days ago. They had a fantastic selection of kits but the prices were pretty high. They did have a pretty decent selection of decals at a really good price. I picked up a couple of sheets I couldn't find anywhere else at really low prices. Despite the expensive kits, it's well worth a visit.
  6. I just stopped by the Hobby Town USA in Dallas (off Walnut hill road), I wasn't too impressd. They had a fairly small selection, prices were on the high side of average but they did have a few kits pretty heavily discounted. Unfortunaterly none I was looking for. They had a small selection of aftermarket decals, but again nothing to really write home about. Worth a look if you're going by, but I wouldn't go out of my way to make a stop there.
  7. For what it's worth, I'm stationed at Barksdale as as I recall they have an AGM-28 on the load trailer on display at the 8th AF museum. I drive by that thing everyday, I'll see if I can snap some pics next week.
  8. Just another shout out for top shelf. Great selection, reasonable prices. Well worth the trip.

    ME 210/410

I recall recently reading that the 210 had a weak empenage, and was prone to structural failure in the tail. That was one of the many issues addressed by the 410. How to recongise that in an aircraft, I don't know. Unless of course you happen to see one in flight with its tail falling off. Then it's probably a 210.
  10. A friend of mine got a "kill" at Red Flag this way. A red air F-16 flew under a buff 2-ship during a simulated full load release. They called him dead during debrief.
  11. This is an old shot of an Aim-9 on the Buff's 559 station, where we carry the pod today. I can't imagine this ever being truly considered. But someone was persuasive enough to get the thing attached. Kind of hard to sneak up on a fighter when you're the 800 pound gorilla.
  12. I picked up a couple of the Kitech F-16A's because they were really cheap. In fact I've got a few kitech kits in the stash, it's just hard to beat the price. So far I've had mixed results, the YF-4E was terrible, the Mig-31 was fair. The F-14 and EA-6B were on the low side of fair. But for $4.95, it's hard to complain. Besides, I figured they'd make good kits to practice on. And honestly, they serve that purpose well. Overall the F-16A was a top of the line kitech kit. That means it rates somewhere in poor category for regular models. First off, despite what the box says, this isn't
  13. I'm cleaning out my stash by building some of the older kits. Currently that means an old Airfix Firefly kit from the 60's. It seems a decent kit, and is kind of my time killer while I'm working on bigger projects. So here's my question, Did the firefly have ordnance hung on the wings when they were folded, or did they always lock the wings into position before bombing up? It seems to me that it would just look odd having the bombs hanging from the near vertical wings, not to mention the problems of "mounting" (so to speak) the weapons vertically on a folded wing. The catch is, I really w
