Thank you for sharing those great shots. I think I see a B-18 and an O-47 in there, along with the others mentioned. The Bell Airacuda was a nice surprise. Bill

Now I'm up to 160 posts in 11 years here, and no better rates on the other sites I visit. I have learned a lot over the years on line, and contribute when needed. I have been able to help modelers along the way, and that's enough for me. Bill

That's a beautiful model of the F-16I. Thanks for posting the pics, and thank you answering the question about the paints you used. I have Hasegawa 1/72 F-16I and F-15I kits in the stash, and the paint information is very helpful. Bill

Thank you, Finn. Very nice detail pic. Bill

TERs and LAU-3 on F-4J (or any F-4) inner pylons?
Bill Ficner replied to RAIN's topic in Jet Modeling
I found a few pics on my computer. I don't know the source... -
warlockz, I don't recall any aftermarket bombs like that, but the OLD revell 1/72 P-38 kits had a pair of 2000lb GP bombs. I don't think the 1600lb AP bomb has been done in 1/72. As the saying goes, others will know more. Bill

Just saw on a news site that Trumpeter.....
Bill Ficner replied to Flyboyf18's topic in Jet Modeling
These are the planes the Baby Boomers grew up with. I don't understand the lack of interest. Outside of Revell F-101B all we have are the ancient Hasegawa RF-101C, F-102 and F-106. These Cold Warriors deserve better models. I'd like to see Revell Germany do all of them, and toss in the F-101C. If Revell won't step up, maybe Trumpeter or Airfix can handle it. -
The pictures you linked confirmed Rob's reply. At least to my eyes on my screen, those bombs are bronze green. That goes along with other pictures I have of RAF ordnance. I don't know if Humbrol is a good match for that color, but it is probably the best of your four choices.

Looks good to me.

I have to go with the Bell Airacuda, for a lot of reasons: Built as a bomber-destroyer, it was too big and slow to do the job. Pusher-props made it a death-trap for the gunners, and made it very difficult to run the engines on the ground, even taxiing. A single 4-cyl APU provided power to all the electrical systems, including the engines. But I always liked the way it looked, a true creature of its time. It just screams '30s aviation. I have the Valom kits, and plan on building one soon.

I'll have to try this...Airfix kits built the way I built them 40+ years ago. I might even finish one this time. Make it two: Old Aifix--Banshee New Airfix--Buccaneer Both Naval aviation, both simple paint schemes.

Back in the Dark Ages (30? years ago), Airfix kits were sold in the US under the USAirfix or MPC brands. It pre-dates the Heller/Humbrol ventures, if I remember it right. I still have many of them. Some, like the Banshee, I only have in USAirfix boxes. Will these be allowed?

F-101C 1/48 Monogram+Koster Aero Conversion
Bill Ficner replied to Sergei Galicky, Russia's topic in Critique Corner
That's a nice model of one of my favorite jets. I'm still waiting for one in 1/72. I have a couple of conversion sets for the ancient Hasegawa RF-101C, but the 101 needs modern kits for all the single seater versions. -
Thanks, Finn. That's a keeper for when I start on the Italeri kits.

I have been waiting for years for Tamiya to scale down their Swordfish to 1/72. It looks like I will have to build the Airfix or Matchbox kit to make that finally happen. :)
