  1. users.bigpond.net.au/ozmodsscales/main.html is the ozmods/scaledown website, and you can also find them on Ebay as a couple of the local Aussie etailers carry them. Yes they cost more than the Paragon set, however you get full resin wings and the part are cust off the moulding blocks. Check out the other stuff they have the the F-111. Accuracy is spot on, Steven Thrum who did the masters used to work at or around RAAF Amberley wher ethe Aussie pigs are based. He also does a sweet Macchi MB326 cockpit which is also on my to buy list along with various F-111 bits.
  2. I plan to use XtraDecal 00648 USAFE Pt 2 F-111F 70-412 from the 493rd TFS Lakenheath, sitting parked on the ground with wings forward, flaps and slats deployed and some combination ( yet to be determined ) of GBU's. Can you confirm which set of cans I should use in this situation? Thanks in advance
  3. I actually got back to Hampshire last month to see my mother before it was too late - as it was she passed away on Friday. I noticed quite a bit of change since I was last there 7 years ago - some for the better, and well lets not talk about the traffic!! I was quite impressed with the way that the old Camber Docks and the HMS Vernon site have been redeveloped, and so glad to see that the monstrosity called the Tri-corn has gone. As an ex Portsmouth Athletic Club member I dropped into The Mountbatten Centre - also being redeveloped - and bumped into my old coaches of 20 years ago - it was f
  4. Even better, will get the Scale down/oz mods for sure - there are a few other thimgs I need from them anyway. BTW I see you are on the Isle of Wight - I grew up in Horndean just over on the mainland and lived in Portsmouth before I came to Australia 20 years ago.
  5. So am I right in thinking the Ozmods cans have one open and one closed, correctly representing a bird after shut down, whilst the Paragon ones would represent a bird with engines running?
  6. From what I have read, CVER's only and not VER's for parallel mount GBU-12's. I too plan to load 2 GBU-12's on a CVER on a 1/32nd F/A-18 and am going to modify tone of the kit VER's into a CVER to achieve this with a bit of scratch building.
  7. The small WW and the mod between Windscreen and Radome....this a/c is one of the F4-C Wild Weasels, sometimes also known as EF-4C. If you look closely, you can see a matching antenna just behind the lower part of the radome, there were four of the them for the ER-142/ALR-53 Homing Receivers. Also just visible are the ALR-40 antennas as little bumps on the Parachute Fairing and also the tip on the nose radome chin fairing, and below the badge on the intakes the small black circular disc is also part of the ER-142/ALR-53 system. Just aft of the underside of the radome can be seen more antenna
  8. Hmm, the attraction of this buy was the resin/pe cockpit and flaps'slats that were bundled together, and the cockpit was the Verlinden F-111F update set. Which bits did they get wrong?? Also, would the Paragon Exhausts 'F' Specific or the Scaledown/Ozmods Exhausts - not really for an 'F' but in some opinions closer to a 'F' than the 'C' etc they are meant for. If I use a Pave Tack it will be Scaledown/OzMod, however most likely I will use the Xtradecals and represent on of the ferry configurations shown above. Now how long does that F-111group build go for???
  9. Thanks guys - it was the square end to the Aim-9 that threw me, not used to seeing finless 'winders!! Give me about a year and I will have one 48th F-111F loaded like that completed - just scored an Academy F-111E, slightly started but with Verlinden update and I think Paragon flaps and slats - waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Add to that some other bits and source some decals and I will be fine!!
  10. Can anyone please identify the white object next to the GBU-10 under this F-111F as seen at Lakenheath just prior to departing for the Gulf in 1991. Also, was one carried under the other wing? Finally it looks like there is an ALQ-131 ECM pod under the rear fuselage. Given this plane is armed also with two GBU-15's, I would have expected an AXQ-14 data link pod instead. Come to think of it, seeing the GBU-15's on the inside pylons seems to be unusual too.....was this just a 'Ferry Load' the planes used to get some 'gear' out to Saudi with them?? See below for another view of GBU-15's o
  11. How about the (E)F-4C, the Wild Weasel 4, of which 36 were produced (modified from standard F-4C's). 12 of these saw combat in the latter days of the Vietnam conflict with the 67th TFS, whilst 12 were stationed at Spangdahlem with the 81st TFS and the last 12 went to the 35th TFW at George AFB. And then the were the 2 F-4D's converted to Wild Weasels under Project Wild Weasel IV-B, though neither of those made it to operational status.
  12. Indeed the kit only has the 65/70% LERX, and not the 100% LERX required, however TwoMikes resins have just released a replacement 100% LERX for 1/48 Hasagawa/Revell Harriers, so I know where I will be going for that. I just picked one of the Harriers up when I was back in the UK last week on a mercy trip to see my terminally ill mother ( I needed some retail therapy to take my mind off that ). The GR9 will be a good host for a spare TIALD pod that I got in a Jaguar update set and combined with the GBU-24 Paveway III's from the Revell Eurofighter it should look pretty good.
  13. In addition to the 'B' s the FB-111A's also had the long wing, as do the F-111G's, as used by the RAAF (IIRC they all started life as FB-111A's). Also, the RF-111C variant of the F-111C has the long wings. Also, all the long wing F-111's have the heavier landing gear. And, the F-111K, which was to be the RAF version before it was cancelled was also to be a long winged version. Graham
  14. Aires does a great cockpit set, as well as wheel wells, also just the bang seats. Eduard also does a variety of stuffstuff for the British Phantom. As for decals there are heaps around, though not sure what you mean by a 'standard' Boscombe Down bird. Try looking at the Hannants web site, that will give you an idea of what is available. Hope that helps
  15. I love that loadout on A21-1.....6 x ASRAAM plus 6 x AIM-120!!!!!! I am sure I saw that ( or similar ) at the Avalon Air Show in 2003. Though even with the centreline bag you wouldn't want to go to far from the nearest fuel supply!!
