  1. Bueller?................................................Bueller? Noone? :o
  2. Big thing to remember, we are not talking about the Canadian National Guard, or the reserves, (which btw now number only 2 TAC helicopter squadrons unless thats changed too). We are talking two fighter squadrons to cover the entire country. No navy backup, no reserve backup, and no marines. 2 squadrons thats it. Remember also, Canada has a fair bit more land then most other countries to cover
  3. Unfortunately that appears to be whats happening. A very sad state for our sovernty. As a pure aside, Perhaps if we were to become a state, or 13, then each area could get its own bases and gear for the first time since the war. Im thinking we would be more then 13 states, we have counties bigger then many of the eastern states. With the exception of Prince Edward Island of course.
  4. Come on Elmo, I know you have stuff to say, See you at Eds tomorrow. You too Sean, this one is right up your alley.
  5. Now that VFA-97 is forward deployed (in Japan?) Why do they no longer carry a CVW assignment? I saw the up coming decal sheet from superscale, no tail code and the CAG plane has the modex 000. Is this poor research by superscale? (not that ThATS ever happened) I would have thought the incoming squadron would adopt whatever Marine tail code is running the show. Or use the Navy Pacific code NJ or even perhaps NL as the Prowler types tend to do.
  6. Stupid thing is every program Hillier has in mind is despritely required. None are "OHHHHHhhhh look what we have" stuff, all to be used for a specific threat or long standing requirement. Not wanting to go polictical, its not the Armed Forces certainly not the troops, but the bean counters who have let us get into this state by constanly pushing back an overdue requirement. The Sea Things were to be replaced almost 20 years ago. If not for amazing maintenance we would have more and more falling from the sky. But we have past the point of pouring money into maintenance. When it costs near as
  7. Going from 600+ CF-100s and what? almost 1000 Sabres in the fifties (keep in mind planes crashed alot more then, and were not built to last as long as we make them now) To 200 CF-104s, 66 CF-101's and 70 some odd CF-5s in the 60-70s. To 138 CF-18s in the 80s. To 80 Improved CF-18s now. (and a crappy little squadron count of 2 ,not counting 410) By 2017 Id be surprised if Canada does not go the way of say......New Zealand, which has NO fighter force. Remember the thought during the CF-105 times./......The manned interceptor is a thing of the past? It was not then. I dont believe it is now
  8. I've only had trouble with two sets (of the dozens I've used) of leading edge decals. The same one your using....1/32 standard Hornet. But my problem was minor, a little silvering around the roundels and that protective line on the wings leading edge. No big deal. The only sheet that caused me grief was the AETE Hornet in 1/48. Many of the red X disintergrated and had to be redone by hand. I finished it and it looks OK, but show is no show winner like your building. 1 bad and 1 so-so sheet out of something like 40 sheets. I'll keep buying Daves stuff. I just hope he keeps produceing.
  9. Thats no rant.....Its well thought out. I dont agree with everything, but a lot of it makes good sence.
  10. Yep aggressor for me too. I have something like 8 or 10 in the stash that need building. 2 USAF F-16s 3-4 USN F-16s 2 Hornets 2 F-5s and a skyhawk
  11. Any word on the "new stuff" yet, or just more shelving of our tiny fighter force. Getting a wee bit concerned. Thought something would be on the news by now.
  12. Unreal <_< 2 squadrons for the whole country. Whats an American carrier have? 4? Then you have like 10 carrier groups for 40 squadrons.......... Then you have the Marines and their groups......... The reserves.......... Oh yeah, that little flying club.....Whats their name again??????Oh yes.....The USAF!@!!!#$&*^!! And we settle for a lousy two squadrons. Your kidding about 421 right? Cant see that happening. 439 yeah. But 421 would not be Polictically correct. Stupid government.

    RCAF 1000

Barney, you keep doing (close) to the same planes I just finished. First the silver and white herc, now this. I did mine as Dolleys folly just before retirement. Its in the gallery under C-47 or DC-3. One of the two.
  14. Super scale 48-1044, VF-41/31. The CVW-8 badge for the current VF-31 bird looks a little iffy, but I dont see anyone else making this sheet so I bought it. Might just buy another one as I could use the same CVW-8 badge for a current VFA-87 CAG bird.
  15. Dont remember ever seeing any. Red star outlined in yellow on tail. Squadron marks in red. Bort numbers in red outlined in yellow. Everything else in dark grey over TPS cam.
  16. Nawwww Id freak Elmo (the worlds greatest photographer out if I tried that. But mine were..... 1 1/32 scale VMFA-333 4 1/48 Hasegawas.... E, F, G, QF-4G 7 1/72 Hasegawas..... B,EJ,S,QF-4S,J,J, and something else I cant remember right now. ;) The last ones should be shot on Thursday and posted soonish.
  17. And so is Jim.,,,and of course Tony........ But I dont do group hugs. ;)
  18. Noice.. Im waiting for the Lab as well. 424 out of Trenton for me. ;)
  19. Oh man, I remember when I switched to the reserves and we would go on exercise.......2/3 of the company basicly anyone above the rank of private, did not carry weapons. At least when we used FN-C1's we often had enough. Then we switched to the new weapons. We had 75 C-7 rifles and over 300 people. Being a Sergeant I knew how to use the weapon therefore the troops got to yell "BANG- BANG" as we could rarely afford blank ammo. My field ambulance 9 times out of 10 was a civi dark green Dodge strech cab with no tarp. Unless of course the mortors needed it. Then we shared. Yep......no cronic und
  20. Yep, the airbus wont be ready for delivery till 2009. And thats for the all ready paid for customers. Cant see that when we need to replace our time expired Hercs now. Well.......guess we'll see by this time tomorrow.
  21. White was still very common into the mid nineties.
  22. In the bag they came in, placed in one of 3 other big zip lock bags, and lept in a drawer on the modeling desk.
  23. Latest Combat aircraft. Lots of good stuff, CVW-8 tomcats, aggresive navy, Canadian hornets, an issue printed just for me!
