  1. When I was there a few months back they had a couple of NE20 lumps in the engine display: Wonder if they're belong to and/or will be reunited with the Kikka?
  2. I think it depends what you're using the AM for. If you're just bolting it in as a knee-jerk reaction because it's increasingly de rigeur for the affluent aging modeler demographic, why be a fashion victim indeed? That's about as impressive as all the chavs* bolting on the same 'custom' exhausts to the same stock vehicles. However, if you want to put the stuff in because quite simply it's way cool (I think RB Productions' awesome 109 etch sets or Vector Sergey's amazing engines as examples), and increases your build enjoyment, well why not? :) Now personally I want to get a bit like th
  3. Three very nicely done models, sir!
  4. During the weekend (six this morning) or when I get home at night I fire up one of the PC's and load the usual things: mail, facebook, ARC, LSP etc. And leave it there. Generally I go for the what's new stuff on ARC which is the easiest way of doing things. So, for the sake of argument, I get 8 pages of new items since last viewed. You can't read those in one session while retaining a valid life. So reading this lot takes a while and I usually combine it with breaks to eat meals/do chores/answer the phone (only joking)/make plastic models. Now one thing I've noticed about the new forum s
  5. I'd happily look at pictures of either of the first two, if/when you do, sir. Re the others, the P-51 I can happily appreciate from afar (or indeed in 48th), can sympathise with the impatience of the people who've put up with various imperfect solutions over the years. I do indeed desire a 32nd Spitfire, but ideally a Mark I or II and so (it appears from my eBay misadventures) does everyone else... When they get over your side, a quick nose round the LHS might be productive? I look at this Heinkel beast, the fuselage is longer than my elbow to extended fingertips and an easy 3" deep a
  6. Yes, I saw that on Saturday and almost (though not quite) regret doing so :)
  7. Arrived today. I think this model is going to be BIG FUN :) Notice just how awesomely large the tail surfaces are compared to the (not exactly tiny) 32nd Emil fuselage here: This looks like money well spent. Looks like another one of the latter-day Revells where aftermarket is mainly seatbelts...
  8. Gary, Alas, not seen any directly. Did go through my decal stash as I thought I had 48th markings for every Wurger built - but no. Did find a need for these though in a slightly smaller scale, though :) Mildly surprised to see no Montex masks around for the 24th Anton, at least not from my usual vendor (A2Zee.) In that scale would be nice to spray them. Do wonder about cannibalising markings from the Trumpeter Doras (be this Montex or decals), though this is probably not what you want to hear. The other thing would be the first recourse of all shelf-bending modellers, the estimable peop
  9. Yes, great pictures, high praise to the photographer. Things like this are worth having a computer for. (Amused by my hard-working translator on Chrome though - first sentence: 'Helicopters are often called "helicopters" and it is certainly no accident.' Indeed...)
  10. The UM Bf109 Armament Set in 48th has an RB50/30 camera fairing in it, currently (reasonably) cheap on special offer. I thought one of the ICM 109's did it straight off, too. HTH - Patrick
  11. Am sitting here in Glos @ 2.30 p.m. (3/4 hour away from Fairford) watching the sun outside, hoping those there are getting some now, too. Bailed out at 10.30 a.m. as, basically it was torrential then, had been for an hour or so and had crossed the line for me between fun and misery. Saw some interesting aircraft, some of the pics aren't blurred by rain, got a couple of models I was after as well. Felt great sympathy for the pilots, vistors and model/book vendors (AKA the rain refuge managers.)
  12. To develop the hypothetical encounter with a bit more detail... :) Modeler B already knows Modeler A? Possible responses include: * Sod off, I'm shopping * This is so much cheaper than the one in your stash * You don't model this scale anyway, what do you know about it? * And which maladjusted teenage internet loon said there's not enough rivets here? * But it's cheap and I want it. * I've got it already. I'm just checking what my stash should be insured for. Want a hand taking your foot out of yer mouth? * It's called Mr Surfacer, pal. Rivets: gone! * Is that a 24th B-29 next to it
  13. Darn! I was having a cheap day :) Thanks Peter, order placed...
  14. Got to respect that :) Show pictures Uncle, when you can, sir! Would really like to see the above. Cool thread, that video was very useful indeed (ahem, following it my own jeweler's saw rapidly got the blade tension released and the sharp bits greased with beeswax. Ooops. ) Also as senior people here recommend the RB saws - I had similar concerns about their blunting, but the quoted review allayed those - I've ordered a set to try, largely for cutting out panels. Very fond of the JLC saw for general fine work, have 'conventional' razor saws + mitre boxes for square cuts (own personal bugb
  15. Darwin, Thankyou sir, thanks in return for running this (very well done) GB, I had great fun with it! Patrick
  16. Dear me. Thankyou sir (blush), it's mostly Picasa :) Just glad to meet the deadline, did a lot of rapid etch assembly today...
  17. Cheers mister. IBTL! Spent 2 months working on other models & other things, only the other day charged into it, hated the results I was getting with acrylics and....wait for it...the penny dropped and I reached for the enamels. Much easier. Must remember this... Hence (just about) finished in time... Ah, model finished, strange airy feeling. The Hobby Boss 48th just arrived too, and I am tempted to have a look at doing this soon :) Patrick
  18. Personally, yer Mad Max II (sure, they faked the supercharger on the V8 Interceptor, but who cares? It sounds mean and the action is great.) Otherwise, Death Race (remake) for pure fun, and Ronin or French Connection for scary driving...
  19. I'm actually pretty glad to have stars in my eyes, would be a bit of a shame to be glum about a hobby that takes a fair bit of time and effort to follow... Would imagine these beasts WILL be considerably cheaper in the US, a lot of modelling stuff is (and of course petrol etc. You also have pretty aeroplanes like the P-51, F-86 and A-10. The major downside seems to be you have to put up with the horrible word 'gotten' in adult conversation.) I do note the 24th Mosquito - another potential addition to the stash - seems to have stabilised at about the round hundred mark on both sides of the Po
  20. From Relish Models, Revell 111 Is it just me, or is there a glut of now-considerably-devalued Monogram 48ths? This is not that much more (£60 shipped)... Even if it sits in the stash for twenty years it will gladden the heart methinks :)
  21. So...where can one buy some of those thousand-round clips, eh?
