  1. All, Reading Dan's excellent Vulcan* article earlier, there's a line somewhere about NOT pre-shading. I've seen a lot of very pretty models on ARC and many have this, so the question is: is this de rigeur in modelling territory (like use of Future/Klear as pre-decal coat/canopy polish/wart cure etc), is it becoming passe, are there any general thoughts on its application etc? All applies appreciated, Patrick * PS Vulcans are lovely, on full burner anyone not feeling the earth move is dead :D
  2. Chuck, Thankyou for that extremely helpful information. It seems to me from that yellow is a safe and representative way to go, and I'm most obliged to you for clarifying that and giving me overall assurance on the scheme. I did wonder about the ship markings, too, so that adds further to the value. Thanks also to Hal for previous assistance. Cheers! Patrick
  3. Gentlemen, Thank you both for your helpful replies. Obliged to you. May I push my luck a little and ask (Chuck?), said picture in the Jagdwaffe text, does the rudder appear yellow or white? It's just the ship kill markings are going to be a bit difficult to reconstitute if I get this wrong. Many thanks, Patrick
  4. Can anyone help on this? I have Superscale Decal sheet 48-809 which includes a scheme for Major Frank Liesendahl, 10/JG2. This is fairly solid 70/83/76 with white rudder (Blue '1'.) This seems to conflict with a picture on Warpaint #2, Bf109 Page 4 - which appears mottled rather than solid painted (looks like the '1' replaced something) and implication is a YELLOW rudder. This is substantiated - may in fact be the source for - the picture on http://www.michael-reimer.com/CFS2/CFS2_Pr...twaffe_JG2.html, which is quoted as the same W/Nr (7629) Mind you, Hr Liesendahl is credited there as Ob
  5. I seem to remember I made a decent job of mine, but as usual with most of my kits, it was "dismantled" when I lost the urge to make kits of historic things... sci-fi was much cooler to a 15 year old. It took til the last years of my 30s to realise my mistake - kids eh? Mike, Greetings: would the Verlinden set (http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=VL0741) fit at all? Admit it's £23 but it does look very pretty. I've just grafted one of said Matchbox things to improve on my own teenage efforts from, hope you succeed. PS Agree completely with what you posted above. Had a n
  6. I guess YMMV but it was our first time too and we had a very different experience. My wife's cheap Sat Nav found the place without a hitch, we did get there early and carry a fair bit of cash just on the general principle that this might have been useful - got good parking and no hassle with the credit cards. We were let in a bit late due to not being IPMS, but this meant we had ample time to be humbled by the assorted amazing work in the 'holding pen': the subtle Ar-234 diorama, brilliant 1/144 F-86, that just...breathless Sunderland Phil J photographed elsewhere, lovely little crashed 109
  7. All, Has anyone got a picture of the fuselage side of the Hawk's airbrake? Many thanks, Patrick Nevin
