  1. I thought that was the case but you never know sometimes with the military. I thought the F-117 was gone completely. There were the very public photos of airframes being chewed up but then they've recently been shown that the airforce has kept some airframes flyable.
  2. I thought I read somewhere that there were still a couple of flyable Tomcats that were retained by the Navy.
  3. P-38. One pict is of the horizontal stab one other the lower forward nacelle where the outer wing intersects the nacelle.

    1/48 FJ-2

According to Kitty Hawk, coming next month but it has been quiet on their FB page regarding the actual release.
  5. I don't know if it applies but Dmold makes a set of 1/48 triple plow II intakes for the Academy F-111 kits.
  6. Looking for one each of these cheap. Box, decals, instructions are not needed so their condition is irrelevant. I just want the plastic.
  7. Yes Tommy, I saw those things you pointed out as well so that led me to think it was an actual test mule. Usually if something is a CAD image it is a lot smoother. The photo example is certainly not that. I sure hope they do it.
  8. Hard to tell if this is a CAD or a test mule photo. Anyone have a thought on that? I would love to see a 1/48 Tiger finally in IM plastic. The FM kit while accurate is just a bear to build with all the multi media. I commend all those that have done it. It's probably my favorite jet. Just a beautiful design. Come on KH, I'll buy a few.
  9. The release has been pushed back 1/3 of a year to August according to Song over on KH's FB page. It was originally scheduled to be this month.
  10. I have no issues with the USPS. I've had more issues with UPS and FedEx. I've bought a lot of stuff from China and when they send the package slow boat, what that means is at the point of departure from the sending country the package is loaded into a large container with a common national destination. The container is not shipped until it is full however long that takes and then is loaded on a boat and floated to the destination. Most of the damage like that is caused by heavier packages being loaded into the container with no regard for what is underneath. Generally if it is shipped via airp
  11. I don't have and never had either kit. I do recall when the Trumpeter 1/32 A-10's were released there were issues with the shape of the canopy. When I saw photos of the build up,(1/32) I did see the problem with mainly the windscreen shape. I just assumed that since Trumpeter usually does a scale down of some of their kits to 1/48 that the original issues were carried over. If they corrected the windscreen then good on Trumpy/HB.
  12. My brother in law, now deceased, was an engineer for a major defense contractor and a retired commander in the sea navy. He was working on the Zummie when he passed. He said the Littoral ships were junk. He despised them and thought they were just targets. He wasn't fond of aluminum ships.
  13. I believe the HB A-10 is a shrink down of the 1/32 Trumpeter A-10. There were very noticeable concerns with the canopy shape with that kit and those issues were transferred down to the 1/48 kit.
  14. The Beechcraft Heritage Museum in Tullahoma TN is pretty good if you're a general aviation fan. Lots of Staggerwings too. Too bad it is on such an out of the way location but it is easily gotten to off I-24.
  15. If you like the kit then it is a good kit, for you. CE did do well to correct the intakes by giving you the selection of early v late. The fin correction was a bit of a waste as all you had to do was sand the fin tip to the correct shape. The weapons bay correction was actually good. The CE forward fuselage correction set was a waste of money. Like I said, it corrected nothing and was for all intents and purposes not much if any better than what was kitted by Trumpy. The whole spine hump is wrong in the kit and because of that it throws the shape off for the forward fuselage. I don't recall a
  16. I have the Trumpy kit. It is terrible. There are innumerable reviews online, do a search. A friend of mine worked on them while in the Navy and he also has the kit, he agrees. Lots wrong with it. I even went ahead and bought the Cutting Edge "correction" sets,(yes plural) for it. The forward fuselage set actually does little to correct the issues with the forward fuselage. In fact they are almost exactly like the kit's parts. (shame on CE for selling this piece of garbage). If anything, it creates more build issues as the canopies do not fit and need to be endlessly sanded to get them even clo
  17. All 1/48: F2H-2/3/4 Banshee F11F-1 Tiger AJ-1/2 Savage RA-5C Vigilante P2V-5/7 Neptune The FJ-3 Fury would be on there but Kitty Hawk is supposed to release one soon.

    1/48 SBD-3 Midway

If you can find a derelict Pro Modeler SB2C I believe it had the entire same mount as the SBD but with the twin guns. It had the armor plate as well.
  19. I'm posting this for those that bought this kit. For those that bought the kit and shelved it because of the well known issues. Mike Rieth's correction set is a must have. I recently bought it and all I can say is if you were hoping for an accurate Banshee and were disappointed by the KH kit, get this set. The set not only corrects the intake issues but also the rear fuselage. Mike has instructions on how to apply the set on his website as well as other corrections you can make to the kit parts at (mriethcreations.com). I have no interest with Mike or the set other than being a very happy cust
  20. The price of Collect Aire kits drop dramatically once a plastic alternative is produced. However there are some sellers that still are asking extremely high prices for some kits regardless if there is a plastic alternative. There are several CA kits that have not been done in plastic and those still hold their value if not increase in value as by now they are becoming increasingly rare to find. CA quit making kits a decade ago.
  21. Read the USAF is looking at buying the F-15X. Congress may force the airforce to buy it because of cost. Why not, the Russians have done the same with their Su-27. How many permutations of it are there now and they act like it's a whole new airplane. A F-15 with the latest electronics/engines, etc. could probably easily handle an ex soviet steam punk design.
  22. Really? Paypal for this? Give me your address I'll get it in the mail.
  23. Otto, I have a spare FM Cougar canopy. You are welcome to it if you want it. It is pretty much the same as the Monogram canopy.
