1/48 Hasegawa F-18E VFA 27 "Royal Maces"

Pit's done, now moving on with rest of build. Used the Eduard painted PE... not sure I like the bright colors. Hit it with some matt finish and it looks better. Used the Wolfpack seat... very nice. -

Hello folks, I'm glad to be joining you folks in this GB with the Hasegawa 1/48 Super Bug with Royal Maces markings. Here's what's included in the build: Eduard Interior Eduard mask Wolfpack NACES ejection seat Wolfpack launcher and pylon set Rhino seamless intakes G Factor landing gear G Factor wing folds Afterburner VFA-27 "Royal Maces" decals I know the kit decals are Royal Maces but I did not like the large black decals for the fuselage and V stabs. I'd rather paint the gloss black. Not sure which year I'll build, but it will be a CAG plane. Now on to crack open the kit! -
Hi Guys... coming back to ARC and joining the Hornet Group build. Looks like fun.

1/48th Tamiya F-84G Thunderjet

Thanks all for the kind words. Here's an update on the Alclad exercise. I tried using magnesium for one of the panels, but the contrast was too much. Instead I went with the four different aluminum colors - Aluminum, white aluminum, Dark Aluminum, and Duraluminum. This provided what I think is a more subtle shading of the jets panels, and looks closer to the reference shots I have. Also to further reduice the stark contrast of the panels I actually was able to post shade some of the darker panels with a lighter aluminum color in the middle. Not sure if it really shows in the photos though.... -

Very nice job. Love the level of detail considering it's 1/72. -

OK, Assembled main fuselage and sprayed base coat of MM Interior Black. Then I sprayed a coat of Alclad Airframe Aluminum. Here's the results. I'm going to spray many of the panels individually with two other Alclads - Magnesium and Duraluminum (side panels under cockpit). This is my first attempt with Alclads, and so far so good - pretty easy to use imho. -
Folks, Just started up the F-84G Thunderjet build. Will build this one pretty much OOB (not sure on decals yet...). Here's some progress shots of the cockpit. I've still got to add seatbelts. Thanks for looking.

Totally agree. I messed up an Me-109 canopy that I had dipped in Future thinking that would prevent the fogging... It didn't. I use the Testors Clear parts or Microscales Krystal Klear.

Folks, Rejoining the GB while I wait for a resin cockpit for my HB F-105 with a build of Tamiya 1/48th F-84G Thunderjet. Gonna build it OOTB.
