  1. I know Shull24 has been out of business for a long time, but now I'm guessing these other guys are better? I've got several Shull24 sets, but I want to compare some stuff to see what I might use. Thanks, Mike Todd
  2. I've been away from modern jets for a while (stuck in sci-fi) but I wondered if Shull24 weapons and pods are still the bees knees. I was going to start something soon and I looked at my stock. I thought I might sell something (Shull24) I may never use to help buy some other accessories and decals, but there were no takers. This makes me wonder where I should turn if I want the new bomb-dot-com of bombs, etc. Thanks, Mike Todd
  3. https://www.ebay.com/usr/seahawks550 I'm going to try this for the first time and see if it works. Almost anything I ever get is high quality, sought after stuff. There are a couple of Tamiya Zekes, lots of decals, with more to add soon. Lots of Navy Aggressor schemes, and other modern jets. Thanks, Mike Todd
  4. I have some Shull24 stuff. I know, been a long time. Looking to get rid of some of it to pay some bills, and I'm hoping if it's another few years before I get serious about it again--especially when my son reaches the right age--what else is out there that compares to Shull24. I remember at the time them just being so good in so many ways. Has anyone filled the void effectively or completely?
  5. Check out the AM stuff, with a few OOP Sci-fi, too. http://www.ebay.com/sch/seahawks550/m.html?item=221830388992&hash=item33a61f1d00&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Thanks, Mike Todd
  6. I'm told the other versions are easy to find, but it's just this one that's hard to find. That's what I'm curious about. Thanks, Mike Todd
  7. I have this kit listed on e-bay and I'm surprised at how many people are contacting me from countries outside the U.S. asking (persistently) for me to agree to ship outside of the U.S. So this makes me wonder about the availability of this kit. Is it scarce or out of production. We're talking about modern countries, not third world or war-torn countries. I checked and I don't see it in a few quick searches at some of the usual online retailers, but I haven't gotten too detailed with my searches. Thanks, Mike Todd
  8. Try Fightertown decals. I think Brian there might know Ernie fairly well. And G-factor seems to be in stock there (some sets). HTH, Mike Todd
  9. I'm clearing out most of my stash, so check back often. Over 200 kits (I know, small by some standards) and pretty much everything is high quality stuff. I'll be listing every weekend, so check back on Sunday evenings. http://www.ebay.com/sch/seahawks550/m.html?item=221554356665&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Thanks, Mike Todd
  10. Amen. Kinetic altered the shape of the fuselage. They did not fix it.
  11. See if this helps. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10080891t2/60/2 It doesn't seem to link just right. Go to the hobby search website and search for Academy F-22. When you get to the kit, you will see on the instructions and so forth--and painting info. Mike Todd
  12. I had checked my junk file with no luck. And considered using the wife's email for a new photobucket account. I'll also look into postimg. Thanks.
  13. I haven't used photobucket in a while and now can't seem to log in (they said they sent me an e-mail to fix it, but it's been 5-6 hours and I've received nothing). I set up an image shack account, but it looks like I need to be a premium member to use hot links (or whatever it's called where your images, not links, show up in posts). So is there another free option that people are using? Thanks, Mike Todd
  14. I'm almost certain I've read that the tank is "always" connected to the pylon--that they really don't disconnect or at least that it's so unusual that there isn't a modeling reason to have them separate. On the ground, disconnected from the jet and all. This is true, but the tanks are still a head scratcher. Maybe the aggressor/adversary flies often enough without them, but they are pretty standard for other units/missions, no?
  15. Ditto there. Built 5, I think, two in the past 5 years or so. The weaknesses that I see are about the detail, which is a little sparse and/or simplified compared to Tamiya kits (I realize Tamiya doesn't have a -D, but you know what I mean). But fit seems okay generally. The main fit problem that sticks out is getting the wings to sit level/straight. If you're not careful, they might look right without the landing gear on, but once it sits on the wheels one or both wings looks a little off. Some of the OP's issues might relate to a kit that is warped a bit, maybe sat in the hot sun or a h
  16. Search here, if there is no other help. You might be unfamiliar with the site. Make sure you have the box for "don't show sold out items" unchecked. There are some options there. They post instructions there, and there are some for at least one version of the kit. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/ Mike Todd
  17. I don't really focus on too many inaccuracies, although I like to read about them and decide for myself if they matter to me. Anyway, can you elaborate one what is wrong with the 48th scale Tamiya HARM? I'm thinking you're referring to the missile in the 48th scale Viper kits. And this is no way a challenge and not mean to be with attitude. I just wonder what you mean. Since no one else "challenged" you, I gather it's common knowledge and I just haven't heard. Mike Todd
  18. I've read two theories. One is that, for the 48th scale kit, Tamiya might have been thinking about a kit down the line that would include a simulated engine sound and the panel would be where the on-off switch would be be. The other is that it was a random extra panel with no logic so when another kit copied it, it would be obvious they copied Tamiya. And then Kinetic did, indeed, include this extra panel. I'm not trying to suggest either one of the above theories is valid, but I will also say that that a very knowledgeable F-16 expert has stated emphatically that there is no logical rea
  19. Bitchin! So we'll have a two-seater from Tamiya in...hey, when does Haley's Comet return? Mike Todd
  20. #1. I usually like Ol Crew Dog's posts as he's quite knowledgeable in, at least, some areas. But I have to say, in this case, re-posting pics--and, worse, entire posts' worth--is just unnecessary in most cases. I think some do it because they don't know any better, just like other forum faux pas. And, if we can at least agree something is a faux pas (and of course that's a whole other talk show), posts about it are a way to foster the behavior we are look for. The post by Check Six was somewhat blunt, but Crew Dog has been around enough to have a thick skin. And it doesn't make sense to
  21. M is a newer sprue, represents a few upgrades. If this link works, it will show the sprue. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10242511z8/70/8 But really, for years, I spent a few minutes on each build just scratching those swept antennae before the sprue (I have a few of the m sprue kits in the stash but haven't built one--and can't get to my stash until a bunch of remodeling). Always did a search and got basic dimensions. Same-same for the GPS antenna. If you can't get the parts, find the dimensions. Mike Todd
  22. Isn't that the light in the pic posted above? Below the forward edge of the canopy? Not a terribly good (i.e. close up), but it looks like it.
  23. So I pulled out a set of the G-factor gear for the 32nd scale baby Hornet to see if I missed something. I compared them to the kit parts. As near as I can tell, they are indeed straight copies of the kit gear--albeit with some parts put together beforehand. If I'm wrong, maybe someone can point out where detail has been added or changed. Pics might help, I guess. And seams are clearly visible. BTW, I have several copies of this gear, and some for the 48th scale super hornet. I'm not trying to attack g-factor. I played around with some SAC gear and definitely preferred the G-Factor st
  24. Better detail? I haven't seen them, but the G-factor stuff (and the SAC stuff) I've seen is basically a straight copy of kit parts, even with mold seams showing. Not to suggest they are worthless, but I can't think that I've ever heard them recommended for superior detail, just strength. But like I said, I haven't seen the gear for that jet.
  25. Am I the only one who can't click on any links or see any pics?
