  1. In the North America it's now called Pledge with Future shine....... In some other countries (Australia IIRC) it's called Klear.... Also here is the latest edition of "The Complete Future" from Swanny's Model (Scott Swan)......... http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html
  2. Model Masters has (prethinned) aluminum both buffing and non-buffing (I think they still do)...The non-buffing would be close......... Back in the early 60's the USAF and TAC did not use letter designations for airbases....Can't tell where the two F models were and disposition as 418 and 445 are not listed on Joe Baugher's site.... The Bottom photo of D models are the group based at 562d Tactical Fighter Squadron, deployed from McConnell AFB, Wichita, KS
  3. Interesting..........I know if the MM is acrylic it sure will, but if enamel don't know..........I do not thin MM/enamels with lacquer thinner as it will separate if shelved........... What I miss is the old Floquil Dio-Sol Thinner.........
  4. Same here on how long it last............As said the yeoman work will be mineral spirits........and I also use homemade windshield washer fluid (clear) to thin and clean acrylics..........
  5. I buy my superglue at Hobby Lobby...They come in 1/2 oz bottles and cost only $2.99 USD/bottle...It comes in thick, medium and thin..I only buy thick and thin......Also at our local hobby shops over the years I've bought Zap-A-Gap "micro-tubing"...It comes in 2 sizes......I cut off the tip of my 'thin' CA bottle (you may have to drill the opening out a bit)and insert a piece of thin tubing (the end cut at an angle)......The thick CA I cut the tip off and drill the hole out bigger and insert a large piece of tubing and in the tip of that a small piece of tubing........ Each piece of tubing are
  6. Went into local Hobby Lobby the other day to get some paint.........Was surprised to see a rack full of Vallejo Model Color (Colour)....... Also bought some Testors Thinner (8oz tin).......Looked at the price and nearly choked.......$10.99USD.........Since I don't use that much I went ahead and bought it...........Use Mineral Spirits for yeoman work anyway.......... I don't like HL's prices but the closest real hobby shop is some 20 miles away at least........ FYI on the Model Color........
  7. Right!,....has been down since yesterday evening (for sure)...........???????............Appears the host server is kaput............
  8. Today I bought a tin of Testors Thinner (red can) at Hobby Lobby.......There must be gold in it now as it cost $10.99(USD).....Will be buying a can of paint thinner/mineral spirits at Wallymart next for the bulk of painting............
  9. Sure....Go to a discounter like Walmart/Target/KMart.....or a home products store like Bed Bath Beyond or Linen's and things.......Go to the kitchen products/gadgets area............I've bought 2 (at different sizes) at Walmart 3-4 years ago now......Mine was made by Copco... Small size should cost $5-$6USD......A large one about $14.xx........Mine has a mat in the center but you can make those easily.....
  10. Thanks (to all) for the input.............I remember the days of Floquil Dio-Sol(sp?)..Much better than any of today's IMHO......................... I may get some odorless Mineral Spirits at Wallymart tomorrow......I really hate to pay $8.99/pt(last tin I bought) for Testors.......
  11. This is what I use to thin acrylics..........Cleans brushes great too........ Make your own windshield washer fluid I make it by the quart (1.34L) Recipe: • 2.5 cups of water (H2O) • ¼ teaspoon dish detergent (dish washing soap)….Soap breaks any surface tension • ¾ cup of alcohol If this is for vehicle use you can add a bit of food coloring………. I use this fluid mixture to thin acrylic paint and to clean brushes and airbrushes (using acrylic paint) [/size]
  12. I'm sure this has been ask before but a search of the web didn't resolve my questions... Is there any real difference between Testor's Enamel thinner (1 pint red can) vs regular paint thinner/mineral spirits(more refined IIRC) from the hardware department..... Will appreciate your input...........
  13. Found this on Jay's Garage while reading Facebook! http://www.ridelust.com/new-process-replaces-chrome-plating/ A spray on chrome process......One process by "chromesolutions.de (site in German and under construction)..........another by Alsa and one by Sparta......... Jay's youtube segment covers the process..........
  14. If HL isn't in your state they will be soon........Moved into California recently I see......... They usually carry a good supply of Model Master/Testors/rattle can paint(lacquer too)/glues/tools/etc.... I usually buy my CA glue there....1/2oz bottles @$2.99/bottle......fair assortment of model cars, some planes....... Specialty paints for ships/boats I usually have to order online..... Seeing that my 2 closest model shops are 16 and 25 mile away respectively, it serves a a fair interim supplier....
  15. oldthudman........Easy, I'm getting old,I was a radar tech on F-105D/F's (AKA THUD), and I'm a male type person...........My avatar?.......I'm a coffee aficionado (addict)........

  17. Anyone remember the name of that website that was a group of folks that put their model(s) up for critique........Had a limited membership.........Can not recall their name......... It's not Jackel Squadron.........looks like they've gone to that format too..... Will appreciate your assistance! Claud Pipkin
  18. Firstly as stated you should have a "backup" ability (sometime called "factory image")..........You could go back a day or two, maybe even 1-3 weeks prior........... I use Norton "antivirus" package..(it ain't cheap $65 annually), but it works great........plus I have Adaware to weed out malware.....I run each every day, but so far my Norton catches most nasty stuff......... I don't know what antivirus you are using but it sounds weak........
  19. Heard about some F-14's that were taken back because they still carried sensitive equipment......... So your SR-71 may still have had some sensitive/secret equipment on board.... Unless the USAF/CIA are making some SR's airworthy again..??????????????????????

    DC-3 TO C-47

:P ..There are a number of differences......the most noteable is the astrodome (navigation dome) and the cargo doors on the C-47.......inside the floor was different in that it was stressed for heavier loads......The C-53 was a version without the astrodome and cargo doors used as a troop transport and glider-tow A/C True the C-47 is based on the DC-3.......Below is a link a listing of pretty much all variants.... http://www.ruudleeuw.com/skytrain.htm
  21. They're very good........I have a couple of sets (one set must be Verlinden) .....plus their razor saw sets(odd shapes) and scribing arcs.......
