  1. It's sounding more and more like it was a USMC Harrier that the Major was referring to. Probably called in because the RAF Harriers do not have a gun. It does beg the question: Why send aircraft without a gun for close air support?
  2. As this thread has been resurrected, what's going on with VFA-32? I see that VFA-11 have been moved to CVW-3, so where does that leave the Swordsmen?
  3. The low vis VF-111 decals in the Revell kit are bogus. It's a hybrid scheme that never existed. Stay with the Zotz decals.
  4. No doubt there are numerous exceptions to my rash generalisations.
  5. No disrespect to the USAF, but I find the USN far more enlightened when it comes to people taking an interest in their organisation. However, if you're after KC-135s it's a kind of irrelevant, but I've not posted in a while.
  6. See link: RIAT Flying Schedule
  7. Well if he is from London he may not like the callsign 'Iron' unless he has been on some of these 'pride' marches recently.
  8. VF-111 were disestablished in the mid 90's!!!
  9. Ian Black said a similar thing about the EE Lightning. Apparently carrying a couple of Red Tops gave better nose authority
  10. I'm sorry to hear that sad news. You could guarantee that you were going to get a quality book if it had his name on the cover.
  11. This is what she (BuNo 159629) looked like on the 10th March. The only F-14 that carried an AIM-7 that day.
  12. BuNo 161159 is AJ-204. It's the last Tomcat to complete a combat mission.
  13. I believe that the maiden cruise of the Stennis had CVW-7 on board.
  14. Not true, I'm afraid. There were plenty of new build F-14Bs.
