  1. Hi Colin I'll let you know before I put any trade requests up on here. It is the Trainer version not the Snow Bird , I will also be including the nose wheel well and the airbrakes from the Uncle Bills set as I didn't use them. Cheers Ray
  2. Hi Tony Thanks for replying to this and giving the most definitive answer, always good to get the intel straight from the guys who flew and worked on these. Great community on here for getting info on almost anything. I just finished up a twin seater CF-18 that my girlfriend got a ride in back in cold lake in the 90s, good thing she had pics because all she could tell me was that it was fast, grey and she didn't puke. Cheers Ray
  3. This SU-17 is one of the best builds of a Kittyhawk kit I have seen, I had to look back as I though it was the Hobby Boss kit. Well Done!
  4. For sure the Hobby Craft kit needs work, I'm lucky in that I picked up an Uncle Bills interior in Calgary when they were still available so that helps out a lot. The surface of the plastic is also a little textured, I'm dealing with this by using Stynelrez primer "love this stuff" and sanding it down which is working. I have another kit in the stash and depending on how I feel after this one it may end up on the trading block. Thanks for the insight dylan, i'll be looking at my decals and some more photos and make the decision on which way to go whether bare metal or paint as both wou
  5. Thanks phantom, that squares with what I am seeing. In my Canadair book you can see new ones definitley in bare metal then later on a row of them that looks to be silver paint. There is also an interesting photo of an all white Tutor that was involved in a race from London Ontario to Victoria in the book.
  6. Just got my package in the mail today. Looking at the stamp it was dispatched from Hannants on the 12th of Nov and now its the 29th of Dec. This has been the longest one so far but still got here in good shape so no worries
  7. Working on my 1/48 Hobby Craft Tutor and looking for some expertise out there, I'm doing the Military Trainer version and thinking about the paint. I am looking at pictures on the net and in my references and I see ones that look bare metal and others that look like a silver paint. Were bare metal ones early schemes and painted ones later schemes? Thanks Ray
  8. For sure, before Covid I would even get items sometimes faster than coming out of the States. I've used them for years and really like how they have their inventory search setup. I'm not to worried on my recent order, with Christmas and Covid I expected it to be slow.
  9. My order in the summer took 4 weeks to reach me in BC Canada, normal is 2-3 weeks. I have an order that shipped on Nov 12th and hasn't arrived yet so ya taking a lot longer than usual.
  10. Thanks Let_models I'll be be on the look out at future shows to compare Bearcat canopies, doubt mine is just a one off. I need to get a new digital camera, mine is cheap and it won't focus close in so even the pics above I had to take multiple times and pick the most decent ones so I'll be looking for a new camera soon. Planning my next Vietnam build and its likely going to be an F-104C but right now I've got an RCAF Tutor, Westland Wyvern and Mosquito on the go so it will be awhile yet. Cheers Ray
  11. I want to give a BIG shout out to Drifter Don who graciously donated the decals so I could finish this kit also all those who sent me pics and insight on the Props forum. I tried to replicate the vents on the top of the cowling with styrene and then scraps of photo etch but they turned out pretty bad so sanded and filled it back in as I wasn't happy with my effort. I had no issues with the kit except for the thick canopy but it is clear. The wings have to be thinned down for the Wolfpack wing folds but I think it is worth it for the added detail. All in all an enjoyable build and my first crac
  12. I wanted to leave the canopy open to better see some detail but this kit has the thickest canopy for 1/48 I have ever seen so I left it closed.
  13. I added some push rods and wiring to the engine, not totally accurate but you cant see much of it anyway
  14. My Latest build is Hobby Boss's 1/48 Bearcat. I used Eduards interior, Quick boosts engine and Wolfpacks wing fold.
  15. 1/32 Pacific Coast Models Macchi C.202 kit # 32002 looking to trade for the Special Hobby 1/32 MkV Tempest. Located in Canada
  16. An up to date 1/48 Eurofighter, the Revell is decent but just look at Hasegawa's 1/72 surface detail and imagine what they would do in 1/48
  17. Second this one, someone has to be looking at doing a new F-89
  18. Hi Richard I was pretty sure about getting AK3077 deep sky blu but this might be a backup as I can get it local and it looks pretty close but maybe a touch dark but I could experiment with a drop or two of white. Thanks Ray
  19. Hi Ken Much appreciate the help, I can get AK easier than Lifecolor which I have never used but your link also took me to Humbrol 48 and even though the lid doesn't look like a good match their paint swatch for that color looks like a pretty good match. The AK is probably a better match and I can get that in Canada from Sunward. Thanks for this. Cheers Ray
  20. Exactly! light blue is not much help :) I saw two of these jets at the end of the runway in Danang and they were freshly painted and Very clean. Pretty confident that an ARC member will have some good info on this color. Cheers Ray

  22. Looking for some help with a color match or FS number for the upper and lower color on this Vietnamese SU-22. Thanks Ray
  23. I might be able to help you but it would ship from Canada. Let me know.
