There were at least two patterns of camoflage for the Luftwaffe Sabre 6s. Best to find a photo of your subject/time frame.

Remember to scribe in the aileron gap right to the end of the tip

Greetings,
i look at the Luffwafe MK 6 and the underside is grey rather than PRU Blue as I advised in the earlier threads. Shall it be grey? The Hasegawa instructions calls for grey underside. Of course you would never use restored museum samples as your references. Dai
Yes , Luftwaffe Mk6s were grey underneath, called Silbergrau. The used Mk5s they received had the standard RCAF PRU Blue undersides.

Thank you very much and I will correct the placement as advised. I look at the F-30 wing and the holes are identical in positions like the F-40 wings too. That means Hasegawa had the pylons wrong in their kits ? Dai
exactly, the only kit that gets the pylon location right is the monogram F-86D.

Hi Tony,
Do you have a real photo of the underside as I would like to know how off I am from the kit's position. Unless it is drastic I will leave as is. Dai
you don't need a 'real photo', the graphic I posted and my explanation is quite clear, the kit uses the outer pylon position of the later F-86F wing, while you need to move then inboard to a position of 53mm from centerline as per the earlier wing.

Thank you so much and I will close them. Please let me know what else before I start painting the plane this week. Dai
You still have a LH fuel filler present, when it should be located on the RH side(similar location)

Don't use the 'Hawk One' Sabre as a measure of the wing pylon position. It has a late Mitsubishi built wing with the later 2-pylon locations, and it's tanks are located on the inner most
The pylons on a standard Sabre 6 are at Sta 99.5" and in 1/48 scale that is approx 53mm from centerline.
this image shows at top, the later wing and the lower is the early wing applicable to F-86 A,E, Fs and Canadair models

Those small vent holes (1 LH, 2 RH) on the aft section should not be there on a Canadair Mk6.

that seam inside the top fuselage vent sticks out like a sore thumb; also a seam at the boat tail behind the rudder HTH
Tony
PS move the locating holes for the wing pylons in so they measure 53mm from centerline, they are in the wrong place-every manufacturer puts them in that spot for a late F-86F

the 'rumour' is just that ; 'a rumour' And it is not supposed to be another F-86F, it is rumoured to be a 'E', although a 'A' would be welcomed as well.

Bear in mind that the Luftwaffe Sabre 6s had a different nose wheel, in that it did not have 'spokes' but more of a flat disc.
I am not aware of a aftermarket example in 1/48

Are you sure all German Mk. 6 had the Martin Baker seat? I don’t think they did, only some…
from the Larry Milberry 'bible'; "no JG 73 Sabres received the Martin Baker Mk5 seat"
there are plenty of photos of Luftwaffe Sabres of all squadrons with the older NA seat

Best use a photo of an actual airframe for your model. Luftwaffe Sabres we’re delivered with a North American built ejection seat, getting fitted with a MB seat later in their career.

Port side shown, RH side identical; quite an easy job considering all the work you are accomplishing elsewhere.
-
are you going to add the engine compartment vents on both sides of the fuselage, all Canadair Sabres had them.

I am currently doing a 'scale rotation', every kit being a different scale as the previous build. On the bench now is a 1/32 Mustang Mk1, next build will be a 1/72 jet, after that a 1/48 something or other, then, a 1/144 scale airliner, then back to 1/32 scale. The product of a 40+ year stash

‘Without much issue’ ??? To do it properly involves swapping out the leading edges of the F-86D onto the Hasegawa kit much the same as installing the KASL resin. I plan to do it someday, but I am waiting for an aftermarket Vee shaped windscreen in 1/48.

Tony,
Do you know which of the J-Bot decals will go to Above & Below? The J-Bot page is till up and running. There is no mention of Jim's stroke on the News / Updates page, but I placed several items in the cart, and when I went to checkout, then I received a message stating since his stroke he will no longer be taking orders. Just curious.
Kind regards,
Dutch
why not ask Andrew at Above&Below directly. I know he has a presence over on Facebook.

On the other thread you said early MK 6 had hard edge wings meaning no slats? Dai
yes, but the all the Luftwaffe Mk6s had the slats. RCAF aircraft 23370 to 23610 came from the factory with the hard wing. They did receive their slatted leading edge eventually over 1956-57.

the second picture BB-237 is a MK5, not a MK6
also the LH fuel filler should not be present, it is on the RH side.
Tony

There is no such thing as a slatless Mk6, all Mk6s had slats in the Luftwaffe. The Luftwaffe also had some ex-RCAF Mk5s with the hard edge wing

Hmmm. What happened to the Ad banner for Mia's garage?
