  1. It was a great time! I'm in the process of downloading 2K+ photos, I'm going to be a while going through them. What a terrific show - the Thunderbirds, the PAF, a B-2 and F-35 flyover, some great statics, and just about perfect weather. If only we weren't shooting into the sun all afternoon for the flight demos...
  2. Very cool! I'm leaving for Maxwell in the morning, really looking forward to seeing them this weekend!
  3. Exactly - that is an AT-38B, when the Lead In Fighter Training wing operated out of Holloman AFB. I spent three weeks there in the summer of 1982 on an AFROTC summer training program, I got several rides in those birds.
  4. Took a ride out to CLT after work Friday and caught some interesting visitors. C-130H of the Ohio ANG Miami Air 738 A pair of T-1A Jayhawk trainers out of Columbus AFB. A hundred years ago, long before the Jayhawk was around, I flew Tweets and Talons out of Columbus. Kalitta 744F
  5. Francis Ford Coppola owns this colorful Falcon 7X that arrived at CLT this afternoon. The left wing and horizontal stabilizer are painted red, and the left wing/stab are painted green.
  6. I'm planning to hit the Maxwell AFB show.
  7. Some recent shots from Charlotte: Michael Jordan has a new Gulfstream G550 Turkish A330 bound for Atlanta diverted to CLT due to storms.
  8. Tell them you know Moose... http://www.moose135photography.com/Airplanes/Air-Museums/Hickory-Aviation-Museum/
  9. We meet the fourth Saturday of the month, usually at 1pm, although sometimes we start a little early. No meeting in December - actually, we had a holiday lunch last Saturday - next meeting should be January 28 (although I won't be there...) They usually post updates on Facebook or on the museum's website. Meetings are in the main terminal, the museum is housed in the terminal along with aircraft on the ramp.
  10. This warning sign is on most gas pumps. Check the first item
  11. Did you slide your butt on the seat as you got out? That will build up a charge, just like sliding your feet on the carpet then touching a door knob.
  12. Nothing has been cancelled. He isn't the President, so he can't approve or cancel the program at this point. I'll leave it at that, lest this become political.
  13. I met someone (I think the president) from the Gastonia club at the IPMS Nationals in Columbia. I've been meaning to get down to one of their meetings, it's just been a little crazy the past few months.
  14. Do you frequent the museum at Hickory? I'm a member there, and try to get to our monthly meetings. Maybe we'll bump into one another some day.
  15. Seems like forever since I've been out to CLT, but spending last week in NY killed a lot of my local spotting time. A couple from Friday night: This morning, we had a pair of AH-1W Super Cobras at CLT. They are assigned to HMLA-773 Det B out of Joint Base McGuire in NJ. After midnight last night, we had an Antonov An-124 drop in, so I went out this morning to grab a few shots. It's one I haven't caught before.
  16. Thank you! They landed literally 2 minutes after sunset. I was hoping for a little more light when they arrived, but I do like the way these turned out.
  17. And a few shots while patiently waiting for Air Force 1:
  18. Air Force 1 arriving in Charlotte Friday evening...
  19. That's been living at the Carolinas Aviation Museum since it lost an engine on takeoff in November 2011. It was on a return trip to Florida after flying in with Sully and Skiles for an event to mark the opening of the museum's Miracle on the Hudson exhibit featuring their A320. The Historical Flight Foundation (the plane's owners) didn't have the money to repair/replace the engine, and it sounds like it may never leave CLT. You'll see it in a lot of pictures from CLT, especially from up on the parking deck. TT, it's not a bad deal for the charter companies, having a steady deal
  20. Took a ride out to CLT after work Friday, and caught this US Navy C-40A.
  21. Mike Pence flew into CLT this afternoon for a campaign stop about 45 minutes north of Charlotte. Left the office a little early and was able to catch it - this makes the full collection of 2016 campaign planes for me!
  22. Another day, another campaign plane. Tim Kaine was in Charlotte for an event today, and I ran down to CLT to catch his plane.
  23. What to do? Get the kit, of course. And if you get another for Christmas? Well, I think the Tomcat did wear more than one set of markings during its lifetime...
  24. The bad part about living in a swing state during a Presidential campaign is all the advertising. The good part is seeing the campaign planes on their frequent visits. We had Hair Force One in CLT today. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a clean shot of it over at the FBO ramp, with bizjets and ramp equipment getting in the way. I've gotten shots of it before, so I wasn't too upset. Along with the 757, this Miami Air 734 charter was in with it, which I believe is used for the press.
  25. Here's a bunch of stuff that's been sitting around while the site was having issues. I was back in New York and caught the beginning of UN Week. This is a Qatar Amiri Flight 747-8, used by the royal family and other government officials. Virgin Atlantic 787 Air Serbia A330 Japan Airlines 787 Royal Jordanian 787 Back in Charlotte, USN F/A-18F of VFA-41 drops in for a visit. Caught this during a campaign stop.
