The only model-related magazine I receive any more is the IPMS Journal that comes with my membership. I haven't bought an actual magazine otherwise in several years.

Sure looks cold up there!

We had the annual Jones Beach Air Show on Long Island over Memorial Day Weekend. I was back home for it, working with the American Airpower Museum, which hosts many of the show performers. This year, we had three jet teams, the Blue Angels, the Canadian Snowbirds, and the Breitling Jet Team. We also had the F-16 Demo, and a Heritage Flight with the F-16, a P-51, and an F-35, the first visit to Jones Beach by an F-35. B-17 Yankee Lady, the museum's warbirds, and several aerobatic performers also were part of the show. As you know, it turned out to be a sad weekend after th

I saw a tire change on a B-17! Yankee Lady has been at Republic Airport for the Jones Beach Air Show this past weekend, and this morning they found the left main had gone flat. Since a spare is too large and heavy to carry around, they had to have one flown in. In the end, it didn't effect flight operations, as the weather cancelled their planned passenger flights.

Small Airplane Crash in the Hudson River?
Moose135 replied to zerosystem's topic in General Discussion
As some of you know, I'm a volunteer at the American Airpower Museum, and yes, it was our P-47, Jacky's Revenge. I'm up in NY for the show, and was there this evening when they departed, and when we received word about an hour later that he went down. It's been a long night, waiting to get confirmed information about the pilot's fate. It will be a sad weekend, but the museum will be open and the air show will continue. :salute:/> -
I know someone who could probably answer that for you...oh wait...

Piedmont Airlines, the regional subsidiary of US Airways/American Airlines, painted a Dash-8 in retro colors to honor their retiring president Steve Farrow.

Several reports I've seen have all said it was an aborted takeoff.

The latest addition to the Hickory Aviation Museum, a Grumman EA-6B Prowler from VMAQT-1 at MCAS Cherry Point, was flown in today. The gentleman with the flight crew is one of our museum members - he's a 92 year old retired Marine. He enlisted during WWII, was selected for flight school as the war ended, and flew Corsairs as a flying sergeant. Commissioned after the Korean War, he flew F7Fs, Skyraiders, recon Banshees, and A-4s. He then transitioned to rotary wing, and served two tours in Viet Nam, flying the H-34 and CH-53.

I paid a visit to Old Car City, outside of Atlanta, on Saturday. Opened as a junk yard in 1931, it is now a museum of sorts, home to more than 4,000 old cars on 34 acres. It's mostly wooded land, and the cars have become part of the landscape, with trees and bushes growing up around, and in many cases, in the cars.

I caught some of the NASCAR Air Force returning to Concord after the race in Richmond, VA this weekend. Stewart-Haas CRJ-200 - this is an old US Airways Express / Mesa jet. Another Stewart-Haas CRJ-200 - this one saw service with Independence Air. Richard Childress Racing Embraer 135 Joe Gibbs Challenger A pair of Miami Air 737s - I think these charters have replaced the Roush 727s we used to see at CLT. Joe Gibbs Racing CRJ-700

You had me up to this part - everyone knows the Tweet is the greatest machine ever created by man!

Probably not much fuel in it, plus it may be the angle - since I was down on the ground and shooting a bit upwards, I was probably lined up right along the wing. Last summer, Hendrick Motorsports upgrade to this pair of Embraer 145 jets. I caught them today arriving back home at Concord Regional Airport following the NASCAR race in Bristol, TN.

Stopped out to CLT after work this evening. The Antonov should be in town until early next week.

Another beast visiting CLT. They have been here for several days, and aren't scheduled to leave for more than a week. It still has the remnants of the "20 Years" anniversary sticker on the tail.

I ordered a couple of sets of the KC-135R sheet on Wednesday evening, they arrived today! Beautiful decals, and you can't beat the service!

Nice catches, Justin! I went up to the Hickory Aviation Museum today for our monthly meeting, and we had a surprise visitor drop in to the airport, a USMC VH-3D of HMX-1, the Presidential Helicopter Squadron.

Storms in Atlanta brought this BA 777 to CLT this evening. Lufthansa departing for Munich

Very nice work, Mark! Really well done. I have a question - I have the Fine Molds kit in the stash, and have seen the new Bandai kits...how do the two compare?
-
Very nice, Carl! I just picked up the kit, and I'm glad to hear it goes together well. Thanks for the build tips.

Have you contacted the Grumman History Center? I knew a retiree who used to volunteer there some years ago, said they had all sorts of stuff. http://www.bethpagecommunity.com/community/northrop_grumman_history_center
