  1. The new American Airlines AirCal retro made an appearance in CLT today:
  2. Via Air has started flying a couple of E145s in addition to their E120s into CLT.
  3. I was up to the Raleigh-Durham area on Saturday, and had a chance to do a little spotting at RDU. They have a nice overlook facing one runway, and the general aviation terminal has an outdoor deck on the second floor overlooking the GA ramp and the other runway. The Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team flew to Pittsburgh for a game on Sunday, flying this Swift Air charter - last time I remember shooting this plane, it was back on Long Island at Republic Airport as the "Plain Talk Express" flying John McCain during the 2008 presidential campaign.
  4. Not now they're not...all three versions can be had for under $40. http://www.amazon.com/Minicraft-Model-Kits-Boeing-Stratotanker/dp/B00LMIN1L4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1455508700&sr=8-3
  5. 99.99% of the people who watch won't know the difference, so why spend more money. It's not like they are making something that they expect to be nominated for an Academy Award. I doubt anyone forced him to make those movies, and I'm sure their money spends just as good as any.
  6. I expect we'll be having "Save the F-26" threads here in 3...2...1...
  7. Amazon has everything... http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=vw+key+fob
  8. It was cold and windy out on the top of the parking deck this morning, but it was worth it!
  9. Some interesting visitors to CLT the past few days. Friday, we had an Atlas Air 747 freighter come in. It was here to pick up relief supplies for Nepal, donated by Samaritan's Purse, a North Carolina based charitable organization. It was a cloudy and rainy morning, and of course, the rain picked up when he was on final. It was supposed to leave Friday night, but it's still here, waiting on parts after it broke. Hopefully I might get shots of it in better conditions before it leaves. Delta 757, flew the Milwaukee Bucks in for an NBA game against the Charlotte Hornets Saturday night.
  10. They have a secret plan to bring back the Tweet...they will just scare the enemy into submission.
  11. IPMS Coastal Carolina meets in Summerville. They look to be a general interest club, and are hosting the IPMS Region 12 show on March 19 in North Charleston. They have info on the show, as well as their club here: http://www.coastal-carolina-modelers.com/
  12. Very cool! Has me wishing air show season were here already!
  13. Neat stuff! Is he chasing the car after it drove off on its own? :woot.gif:/>
  14. TOR:CON is short for "tornado condition index", a measure developed by Dr. Greg Forbes, The Weather Channel's severe weather expert. It's a 0 - 10 scale estimating the probability of a tornado in a region. A TOR:CON of 8 means an 80% probability... http://www.weather.com/tv/shows/amhq/news/tornado-torcon-index
  15. I don't know what the discussion is all about - if they had tried to invade, the A-10s would have kicked Commie butt all the way back to Moscow!
  16. Thanks, guys! I'm back home in Charlotte, and got to spend an hour at CLT before sunset.
  17. He's a penguin, cut him a little slack... :D Actually, I just ordered the DVD from Amazon, I didn't realize it was available, so thanks for the heads up!
  18. Nice catch - they come into CLT now and then, always glad to see them.
  19. I'm back in NY for Thanksgiving, and got out to JFK this afternoon - spent a couple of hours at Bayswater catching 13R departures. AeroMexico in various sizes... Etihad Airways is the latest A380 operator into JFK, starting service earlier this week.
  20. Checking out of a hotel in Salina, KS on Wednesday, I saw a jet on approach to the local airport. Turns out it was the Bombardier CS100 flight test aircraft. I was able to get a couple of shots on their second approach. Turns out Bombardier is using Salina for flight test of the new aircraft.
  21. Check the scale fire apparatus model web sites - sorry I don't have any saved on this computer - as diamond plate is a typical add on to scale fire trucks, etc. and you can usually find someone with it available.
  22. Actually, you can, in an emergency. The latches on the receiver's receptacle close onto the end of the boom nozzle, and normally will release when limits (side-to-side, fore-and-aft) are reached. In an emergency, you can use a method called Manual Boom Latching, where those limits are overridden, forcing the nozzle to remain in contact, and allowing you to tow the receiver if needed. As I said, it's for emergency use, and can damage both aircraft if not done properly, but yes, you can tow an aircraft, especially a fighter, from the boom.
  23. NASA Gulfstream II Shuttle Training Aircraft on display at the Texas Air and Space Museum at the Amarillo Airport.
