the Flir will be at the bottom, My build is not done so take a take seat and chill.

I actually really don't care. I just find the seesaw between "I build for me and don't care about accuracy" and then changing stuff that's wrong when people call you out on it entertaining as all hell 🤣

Who's, "we"?  I don't recall this discussion being about any design that was put out there other than mine. It was just confirmed that my design was given to Kitty Hawk. That being said, I guess I can be as "full of myself" on My "nobody model build" as I want to be. I am not that way, and it's nothing less then crass bullying to make such statements. Sometimes it's better not be so anxious to jump on other people without knowing any facts.  As far as the FLIR  turret goes I have a picture of it on both sides so mine is right as well.  Your tone is far more aggressive and dismissive than should be necessary here. What a shame.

The top mounted FLIR is correct for the SH-60B, MH-60R, and HH-60H...not the MH-60S. So "right" is a point of view. But I digress.

So let me get this straight...you gave them your design...and now you're pissed they copied it? What did you think was going to happen? That's just naive and hilarious. Good luck with that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It appears that KittyHawk is in need of inspiration from modelers lately.

If this isn't copying my build i dont know what is?

Even the gun i designed is the same. So many other options for the S. The sonar rig and sonar torpedo would have been a better thing to copy.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA are you serious? The MH-60S has been in service for years in multiple configurations that have been thoroughly documented...several of which shown in the picture will probably be available in different issues of the coming kit. I *highly* doubt Kitty Hawk said "hey, let's copy this random nobody's model build" when there are tons of actual legitimate and accurate references out there...such as...um...the real helicopter? If they truly *copied* your build they would have put the FLIR turret on the wrong side too lol. Just a *wee* bit full of ourselves aren't we 🤣🤣🤣

  4. And I know somebody who eats that Lindt Chocolate quite often. Woo-hoo! Awesome...thanks!

Syndi shouldn't eat that much chocolate...diabeetus can really take a toll on someone her age combined with her high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity.

  5. I received the rotor blade hinges from Shapeways today. They look great and fit the kit parts perfectly. They also work just as the real ones do. Excellent job by Matt on making the CAD for them.

    < snippage >

The hinges "work just as the real ones do"...ok they open and close. You're nowhere in the neighborhood even close to an actual correct folding rotor head though. As CrazyGlueSniffer posted there's more than just hinge action in the folding. There's movement of the entire hinge mount on each blade as well as rotation.

Yellow line is the centerline of the rotor head arm...red is the centerline of the hinge and mount assembly. It moves. Left and right.

    3_zpsg5i2tmso.jpg

Blue line is the top of the rotor head arm...green is the top of the hinge and mount assembly. It moves. Up and down.

Orange is the centerline of the rotor head arms...purple is the centerline of the hinge and mount assembly. It rotates. Up and down.

If you want to do it halfway and leave the kit rotor head as is with new hinges calling it a pretty good looking and accurate folded rotor head...good luck with that. Nice try though.

  7. I understood the point as was to do 'zactly what old mate posted in his first message, which is to find a way to help his family with the hobby we all participate in. Hence, I queried "who was donating the kits" because the OP indicated he'd received his kit in donation to put on eBay....I thought 'haps we were all going to build kits from donations and sell the results of the GB to help a family.

Look, I didn't know this Matt chap, and what was proposed seemed reasonable. When the OP posted about donations and putting stuff on eBay, I assumed the leader of the GB was probably setting the example of how things were running.

Although I find it a mite odd the guy leading the a group build would build a donated kit but expect his participants to supply their own kit.

    Crystal on that now.

Pretty sure Aaron didn't say he was leading the group build and was just outlining his contribution...see bold and italicized part above.

  8. As part of this GB, it is my plan to build a Viper, and have a base built for it. I've worked on getting the kit, decals and base donated for this project already. When the kit is complete and mounted on the base, I'm going to put it up on E-bay. Any and all money made from the auction is going to be donated to Matt's wife and children to help them out financially. Many of you know that the Roberts were in a tough situation before Matt passed away with him being out of a job for a considerable amount of time. Now that Matt is gone, things are obviously going to get tougher before they are going to get better, and I feel that this is a way (even a small one) that I can help.

I'd be interested. Who is donating the kits for us to build?

Aaron is building a donated Viper as part of the group build that will be put on a base and auctioned off to help Matt's family...where did you get that someone "is donating kits for us to build?" Really?

  9. Nice shots, and looking forward to the rest when you get a chance to post them. I decided not to make the trip this year, so I will live it vicariously through your photos :)

I saw someone post on another site that he wasn't allowed into the base with a lens longer than 300mm - did you hear anything about that?

I saw the same thing online as well and actually talked to someone Sunday morning after I got on base that went through this...from what he said it was limited to only a few individuals managing parking in the Red Lot (off Las Vegas Blvd.). I had no issues in the Blue lot (off Speedway Blvd.) and actually got on base early from that side on both days.

  10. As always Randy, great shots! And I really like the vapor on the engine nacelles on the A-10 too!

    Thanks Ken!

Very nice pics, thanks for sharing

    Ivan

    Thanks Ivan!

great shooting as usual Randy - I really like your eye for different angles and subjects

Thanks Ken...been having fun thinking outside the box composition wise!
