  1. Hi Dimitry, What are you using to scrub the bottom of the cup? I used to clean my AB with a paint brush and found out later that the metal collar holding the hairs together scraped off the chrome plating. I switched to one of those all plastic brushes from Testors and minimized, if not eliminated, the problem. Godfrey
  2. Hi, Try the links below. http://www.f-15estrikeeagle.com/howto/masa...a/masa_day5.htm http://www.f-15estrikeeagle.com/howto/masa.../masa_day10.htm HTH, Godfrey
  3. Hi Simon, I think it works because three of the four major components of paint is present in clear gloss at more or less the same ratio as the thickened paint I mix it to(Binder, Solvent and Additives). I do this once the paint in the bottle gets difficult to mix. Once dry (powdery) I simply dispose it. I also don't mix brands to avoid compatibility issues. :D Godfrey
  4. Hi, I have a lot of Tamiya enamel paints. For those that has started to thicken, I mix some clear gloss to improve their state. It has so far worked well for me . Godfrey
  5. Hi Spoty1, Between the two, I have the Tamiya HG SF AB. I like it because I could spray sub mm lines easily with it. This AB comes very handy when mottling German WWII planes or detailing. This example on sheet styrene was made with Tamiya flat black enamel, thinned about 1 part paint to 3 parts laquer thinner and sprayed at 25 psi. It could have been better. Godfrey
  6. Hi Scott, If you can, extend the vent further away from the window or any opening that may allow the fumes to flow back into the house. I've installed a 100 mm plastic PVC pipeline to vent my spraybooth's exhaust over the roof of my house. Install a u-bend or tee at the far end to keep the weather out. Godfrey
  7. MF, Thanks a lot for the detailed reply . I was very much interested because I just order some CA accelerator and debonder a few days ago that I intended for filling purposes only as dried Tamiya putty tends to shrink after a coat of laquer based paint (Gunze Mr. Color). Godfrey
  8. Hi MF, You mean you don't use styrene melting solvents anymore for gluing parts together or do use the CA/Debonder technique for filling only? Godfrey
  9. Hi Eng, If you opt for the decal route for masking, you'll need to "reduce" their adhesiveness or you'll find it difficult to remove. Also, if you are "forced" to apply a thick coat of paint (gloss reds, yellows, white...), you will still get ridges. In my latest project, I tried Parafilm M since it is very thin when stretched but I still got ridges and as Nitka suggested, had to wet sand the edges using micromesh's polishing cloths. HTH, Godfrey
  10. Hi, Try this link. I use the same technique discussed, except that now, I use Mr. Color Gloss (laquer) for the gloss coat and enamel paint (Tamiya Smoke) for the wash instead of artist's oil paints. Works well for me specially the gloss coat. Very tough. I tried Easy Off oven cleaner once and it did not even mar the coat. Godfrey http://s96920072.onlinehome.us/tnt1/001-10...nson/tnt043.htm
  11. After the glue sets, the seam would look more or less like this. It could have been better
  12. Hi, I've not used Ambroid Pro-Weld before but I've used Laquer Thinner and Tamiya Extra Thin cement. They work by melting the plastic at the mating surface. When you press, the melted plastic is welded together creating a bond that is not brittle like CA. Hold the pieces together but leave a hairline gap along the seam. Apply a small quantity of glue at the seam using a pointed brush. Because of capillary action, the glue will run along the seam. Press slightly then repeat on the adjacent section of unglued seam. As you go, some melted plastic will ooze out of the seam. Hold the parts togeth
  13. Laquer thinner works for me
  14. Hi Gabe, I've been using a generic US$10 airbrush stand for my Aztek A470 and the two other airbrushes that I own. No problem. I've also read in earlier posts of some folks using bent hanger wire to hold their airbrushes. If you really want one from Testors, their airbrush cleaning jar also doubles as an airbrush stand but it is a bit costly. Just make sure you order the one specially designed for Aztek airbrushes and not the one with a universal airbrush adapter. Godfrey
  15. Hi Paul, Your post really got my attention. I regularly drain the small tank of my silent compressor and usually, the water that comes out is colored red brown (rust). Any ideas how to stop the corrosion? Godfrey
