Centennial of Naval Aviation Kick off San Diego
Scott Oram replied to doupnik's topic in General Discussion
I will be there.. Consider taking the Ferry from San Diego then walking the rest of the way. I am going before the gates open, and parking where I like.. ;) -
Not sure where you saw it, But we have not had any of our aircaft painted in that scheme for a few years now. All of our aircraft are in normal low vis scheme, except for 212, which is in Desert Camouflage. http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-phot...1/4/1325411.jpg

At VS-38 we only loaded the Laser MAV once.. and ended up using it.. I think it was a set up..

We try..... I have 45 Legacies from A, A+, B, C, and D. so if anyone is looking for one, I probably have it..

Some pics for reference...

Probably an Aero-1D drop tank on the right pylon and a Buddy Store on the left, in most cases. A couple of MK-82s in the left bomb bay as well. In some cases a SLAM-ER on the right pylon and AWW-13 pod on the left. "Vikings Forever!"

My squadron currently has possession of this aircraft, its our MODEX 237. And it still has the dedication "plaque" painted on the side with the kill markings.

The Hanger is now informally known as Hanger Two at MCAS Miramar.. Here is a Google Satellite Image of it for sclae purpose. You can see the F/A-18C and F/A-18Ds parked nearby as well. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source...mp;t=h&z=18 According to this page: http://www.cewylie.com/webroot/public_html...dod/hangar2.htm The hanger is 167,000 Square Feet I used Google Earth and measured the total hanger foot print as 485 feet by 250 feet. Not sure of the exact height though. I work next door in Hanger 3, so I can walk over there and take a look and see what I can figure out. Here

Well during our 2004 cruise we had the SatCom antenna (Round) on the top. And were still using the retractable FLIR. We did not have LANTRN. I think that was much later, and Probably only used by VS-22 during the last Viking Cruise to Iraq last year.
