  1. Brian, i also have the set but won't be using it. Doing the Redcocks CAG Bird. If you need a backup, let me know. regards
  2. Ditto the Badger 200, never given me any problems, it has interchangable needles for medium and fine and is easy to clean. Going to pick up a Paasche when i come to the states in June though, i can get it cheaper there.

    Laquer thinner

Yep, B&Q do smaller glass bottles, rather than buying a huge container. It should only cost about £2 for a bottle, beware of the fumes though. I got very lightheaded first time around and wear a respirator when airbrushing.
  4. My first brush was the Aztec, worked fine, still working fine after 3 years. The needles do have a tendency to bend if not cared for but with regular cleaning and a teeny bit tlc, it should last for years. I've also got a BAdger 200 and yet i prefer the Aztec.
  5. Are these the "Testors" brand ?, if so i've seen them but they were at reduced price for quick sale, funnily enough they're still on sale at a reduced price. The shop that has them only has a limited range of colours (mostly pink <_< )
  6. Yip Mike, the Badger hose has the 1/4 " fitting. I had he same problem myself but the badger hose solved that. Regards
  7. Your needle is indeed buggered. My Badger was doing the same until i replaced the Needle (£5.00) and it works as before. It's probably worth getting a couple of spares just in case. I had a bend in the last inch of the needle that i had'nt noticed which forced the end of the needle to hit the tip. regards
  8. Glad i could be of assistance, have fun. regards
  9. Noni, I have always had better results with matts when they are airbrushed on. You also have to make sure that you mix the pigment well into the oil base. I assume you are using it sraight from the tin, not thinned with mineral/white spirit or enamel thinners. I know you have a limited budget but get a hold of some Halfords Primer, Grey or white will do and pracitice airbrushing light mists of matt colour on a junk kit that has been primed. i think you'll be amazed at the results. regards
  10. And that's why i have a problem with Laquer Thinner, Thanx for highlighting it. I'll maybe shoot some paint at a spare kit to see how it works. (bearing in mind i have to spray misted coats) Doh! regards PS. Always wear a mask, on Sunday night i had a major breathing problem due to spraying. I used laquer thinner and sprayed for about five minutes without my mask, i won't do it again, such was the trauma)
  11. Agree with mike, i'm hesitant to try laquer thinner though. Mineral thinners works well, just make sure everything is dust free !
  12. Look at Dana's article, it's pretty amazing. Dana's Page
  13. Oil & turps, it does'nt dry fast and you can feather the wash into streaks etc. have not tried this with enamels but suspect you don't get the same effect regards
