  1. Funny you should ask! I made a real effort to move things on today, and here's the current state of progress... I'd sprayed the underside a few weeks ago, and here's the tan sprayed (FS30219):- ...and the light green (FS34102):- ...and finally the dark green (FS34079):- Need to go back and tidy up now, then spray the radome...
  2. Thanks Diego! I'm sorry it's taking so long - I'm working away from home most of the time at the moment and just don't have time to do much of anything... I'll try and get some more done this coming weekend... Chris
  3. That would mean remasking - aaarrrggghhh! I'm going to have to do some more work on the nose as it's not smoothed out as well as I though... Will aim to get the last decals on this week so I can varnish at the weekend...
  4. Some more progress... I was away from home this week and managed to get most of the decals on. Just a few more to go...
  5. Well - according to Diego's instructions, it should be satin. But Frank McCurdy's photo in the Schiffer ANG/AFRES book looks matt to me...
  6. I've built it and I'd class it as "challenging" to say the least... Will put some pics up on here and on our SIG website at some point! In the meantime...
  7. I tend to use pins a lot! (a) because they're readily available and are a pretty good match, and ( because I'm clumsy and they stand up to my handling pretty well!! I was thinking about getting a mini lathe at some point, so I could actually turn them down to look a little more realistic...
  8. Getting there! Unfortunately, there won't be any progress until the weekend now as I'm working away from home this week...
  9. At last...some more progress... After the problems mentioned above, I tidied up and repainted the underside and glossed top and bottom. In the process, I knocked off the nose probe (!) and replaced it with a pin. Just need to respray the radome with Neutral Gray now... And ready for decals!!
  10. And with all the masking removed... Time to start fitting the undercarriage and sorting out the seats!
  11. Well, it's taken a while, but at last some progress... Matt varnish is now on (I used Xtracrylix Matt as I was out of Polly Scale. Not too happy with it - after 2 coats it's still slightly shiny...)
  12. Or you can use clear resin...
  13. Thanks guys... Hit a bit of a roadblock today though - realised the underfuselage pylon was in completely the wrong place and had to cut it off... So now have to respray the underside AGAIN!
  14. Yeah! Must be the first time I've ever got something ready for decalling BEFORE the decals arrived!!
  15. Latest progress - I've sprayed the wingtips, pylons and nose cone in neutral grey... Just need a coat of gloss varnish and she'll be ready for decals!
  16. Thanks Jake - that makes painting sooo much easier! Chris
  17. Quick question - can someone advise as to the color of the underwing pylons and tanks? I'm assuming they're all standard Light Compass Ghost Grey? (FS36375??) I'm also assuming here that the wing rails are Neutral Grey (FS36270?)
  18. Some more progress... I originally planned to just tidy everything up, but had major problems with the black, and ended up respraying the entire aircraft! So now just have to tidy up the black a little more, then a coat of gloss varnish should be on the cards...
  19. Right... more progress - the stencils are on. I've gone with the "less is more" approach here, as the pic of the real a/c doesn't show that many. I've also resprayed the nose, but will have to fill, sand and repaint as it seems to have split for some reason... The fin cap still needs the checks tidying up...
  20. Errr.... oops? Must fix that now you've pointed it out!!
  21. They're excellent - very pleased with them. And thanks - hoping to get my F-4C and F-16C moved on too...
