  1. Progress...I've resprayed the dark grey - looking quite good now... Once I sort out the nose probe and paint the radome it'll be time for a coat of gloss and some decals :)
  2. Over the past year or so I've painted a couple of F-16s and noticed that the Xtracolor Gunship Grey (FS36118) seemed very light. I put this down to the matt coat, but I've just painted two more and had the same problem. I pulled out a fresh tin, and the results have been...interesting... These are the two tins - definitely the same paint:- Although quite clearly different:- And on the models:- Just to confirm I wasn't going mad, I checked my copy of FS595b. The first picture shows the old tin, the second the new one:-
  3. It was more the case that it's so far off... a little difference in tone is one thing, but this isn't even close... Oh well, back out with the masking tape...!
  4. The IPMS UK USAF SIG now has a Facebook page! Check us out to keep up to date with what's happening in the world of USAF modelling! http://www.facebook.com/pages/IPMS-UK-USAF-Special-Interest-Group/358830450804899 Chris

  6. Yep - the dark grey is now on and I will be posting some more pics later (with luck!)
  7. TBH I've not made any further progress other than the green as I'm working away from home at the moment. I should hopefully get the light green on this weekend and (maybe) get into decalling next week :)
  8. Thanks guys. I have to say that the Italeri kit is nowhere near as easy to build as I had expected it to be.
  9. Hi Eric, It's funny how photographs can differ from the real thing - I realised when I uploaded them that they didn't show the green very well... As for the intakes, a friend of mine noted that the section nearest the fan is white, so I would probably approach it your way in future. It's actually my first A-10 build, so I'm learning as I go! Chris
  10. A little more progress to report - unfortunately work has been getting in the way... The Neutral Grey is on and the dark grey will follow next weekend...
  11. Thanks :) I'm hoping to get the greens painted this weekend, although I may be sidetracked into painting an Aggressor F-16D which I've had on the go for a while!
  12. Normally I would too, but the light green is a bit of a weird colour so I thought I'd try a different approach this time...
  13. I don't know what the problem was, but it seems to have rectified itself...
  14. Or at least I WOULD...except that this board apparently doesn't allow pictures to be posted (well, that's the error message I'm getting!!
  15. I managed to get the dark grey (FS36081) painted tonight. I've decided to start with this as I think the greens tend to affect the colour of whatever is painted on top...
  16. Neil - when are we going to see this and the dash-86 in 1/72nd scale? Chris
  17. Alclad Grey Primer - it seems to be relatively benign but also covers well. I may try Mr Surfacer 1200 at some point - I've tried it (and Tamiya) as spray cans but never really got on with them...
