  1. very nice! can't wait to see it lit. forgive my ignorance, is this a kit or is it scratchbuilt? impressive either way. Bill
  2. i tend to think it's probably e-bay sellers. If you think about it, a really really well built model can sell for several hundred dollars on e-bay. a friend of mine had an award winning f-15 stolen, and sold on e-bay for something like $400. (he now puts identifiable marks on all his models) if someone stole a watch or something like that, it might get what, $100 for a good one? from a purely financial point of view, it's probably alot less work for a higher profit. like everyone said, who would think someone would steal a built model. that's what makes it an easy target for them. i think the
  3. speaking of collect-aires 32nd t-38. anyone know of a source that sells it for less than the 199.95 suggested retail? i'd love to have one, but geesh.....that's pretty steep on one kit. Bill
  4. Enough with the excuses! Where are your priorities??? How can you call yourselves modelmakers??? you sir are right! i hang my head in shame. i mean, do we really NEED a house big enough for the family?? as long as i can build, that's all i need right. i clearly have some soul searching to do. <_< Bill
  5. received mine Friday . Beautiful! the pictures just don't do it justice. It'll be a while before i can work on mine as well, but hopefully we'll see some in plastic before too long!. Thanks Zacto! You're the man! Bill
  6. I'm right there with ya boiler! i haven't got my yet either. hopefully i'll have a box waiting for me at home when i get off of work. not that it really matters, i can't start on this thing until we move. enough sob story. can't wait to start seeing these babies in some built models! Bill
  7. welcome! awesome job! i love the color. very unique, not the typical grey. and yes, great job on the bed roll. Bill
  8. really cool! i guess those navy guys have more time on their hands than i thought. i think the band should have had them do the actual music video. better than most of the stuff i've seen on mtv...uh they don't show video's anymore....on VH-1....oh wait, they don't either......on....oh heck...who shows music videos anyway?!?!? Bill
  9. looks like a p-3 ran up the behonckus of a ov-1....so i guess that an po'd-13. or is it a o-p-p yea you know me. i have no idea what tha heck that thing is....i would be tempted to say photoshop trick, but i don't think you'd do that to us......so enlighten us please.
  10. awesome build!!! looks great so far, be sure to keep us updated. i have one in my stash, i hope it comes out half that good. Bill
  11. hey Zacto, thanks for listening and giving the people what they want. you are a good man! if i didn't e-mail you direct, but went thru your website and placed the pre-order there, will i be included in the mail-out list? i guess i should have sent you an e-mail, i didn't know that, along with a money order, was an option. hopefully, i'll be getting mine along with the rest of you guys.....then  sorry.....i mean i'll be pleased.
  12. i'm with the rest of the gang here, just ship what cha got....it looks great!!! if it's just mirrors, fuuuugetaboutit. at that scale, i think photoetch is usually too thin anyway. like they said thou, if the P.E. is some incredible surprise that will make even my all thumbs build look like a million bucks.......just catch me on the flip side and mail it separate when its done. besides, according to the instructions....i have about 3 months of putty and sanding in the intake before i can worry about some silly photoetch stuff. sum it up....."we don't need no stinkin photo etch stuff" at least
  13. that's the beauty of model building. there really is no right or wrong way to do this. the best thing is to study photos of the real plane and start trying to duiplicate it. the only thing i feel against pre-shading is that if it's the only weathering that is done on the model, it just doesn't quite look "right" to me. panel lines do get dirty, just not uniformly dirty.....who ever heard of organized dirt? and some panels on some planes get dirtier than others on other planes. it's true that each type of plane has common weathering patterns that develop, but even that varies soo much from airf
  14. hey Zacto......we've all been good..mostly, any chance those parts are shipping soon? not trying to rush you, just kinda curious as to target ship time. We may move soon, i hate to think i'd miss it in the mail, and have to hunt down the mail man.....and attack him!!! Bill
  15. i think the pastels would help tone those down as well...but you could also use the thinned overspray. i have never been able to pull that off myself, i'm not good enough with an airbrush i guess. it always looked like my plane was too close to a paint booth and got overspray on it. another suggestion for weathering is to put alot of paint spot touch-ups. that's one of my favorite things about Navy planes. you can use artist oils (my favorite) or just regular model paint strategically sprayed in small patchwork sections. i think S-3's really get alot of that treatment. Maybe not as much as to
  16. i agree, great job. can't wait to see the x-wing base completed, very cool idea over deathstar(?). Love the SW ships. IMHO some of the best ship designs ever. Bill
  17. Those are awesome!! which kits are these, because are much better than the old kits i "tried" to build as a kid. keep em coming. Bill
  18. so you get TWO tractors? is it one tow and one fire tractor, or are they both the same?

it's me again. one serious question about those pics. notice the yellow (canopy release???) markings. they are sooo much cleaner than everything else, are they changed periodically? it appears both sides are clean like that. anyone have thoughts as to why? just curious. Bill

so who knew, Fred Sanford was a Navy CAG? "bwahbwahh bwah bwahh bwah....." not only is the paint job not very convincing, look at the raised panel lines on the drop tanks....i'm thinking this is the old revell kit. :P Cool looking pics,i'd love to try something that dirty and make it convincing. Bill
  21. don't know about AM, but testors put out a prototype hornet years ago, (Fujimi i believe) that came with the attractive blue gold and white scheme.....i had it but i'm sure the decals are toast by now.
  22. can you imagine the faces of the arrestor cable crew when they first saw him lining up on approach? :o :) :(
  23. no problem man. like i said, you may have to saw off the bottom of the legs to get it to fit, but it doesn't show up in a closed cockpit usually. i have managed to get them to fit into a sword t-38 with only having to take off the feet, it's one of those trial and error fitting things. should have it out to you soon. Bill
  24. the earliest recorded successful in-flight refueling was in 1923 by a DH-4B. also, a b-24 was tested refueling a b-17 in WWII, although i don't know if that officially counts. The British also developed the drouge system, but i couldn't find any reference to what the first plane to use it was.
