  1. Taiidan Tomcat is right. I also think that the A-10 still has some life in it but the people that hold the money on the Hill are the ones to decide the fate of the aircraft and not some looney writer that can't even support his cause without resorting to over the top warnongs of dire circimstances. If what that guy said was true the Air Force would still be flying P-47's and A-26's.
  2. This past Saturday the 25th of May after my daughters graduation She spotted a plane in a parking lot on the back of a flatbed tractor trailer. I looked over to see what appeard to be a large Red Sea Fury and after checking online it was the Reno air Racer "Furias" parked in the lot of a motel in Council Bluffs Iowa minus the wings and engine from what I could see. I didn't have a camera so no picture and we were on our way home as it was. I guess you never know what you will see around here.
  3. As bad as te technical errors are they are fun to watch the jets flying and for most people that saw the movie that is what they liked. I don't know how much better seeing it in Imax would be compared to when i saw it in Omaha on a huge Cinerama screen . It probably will look better but I'll have to wait and see.
  4. Thank you as well from me. If it wasn't for the fact I had a gun back iin Feb 28.2011 I might not be here. I had the unenviable job of holding a guy at gunpoint till the cops arrived, just barely minutes after he shot someone three times in the back of the head. Don't tell me what I need or don't need a gun for. It's my right and I choose to exercise that right even when I am no longer working as a security guard. http://www.wowt.com/home/headlines/117121523.html And crazy enough they let the guy go. http://jaystoday.com/article/20120309/NEWS97/120309636/10312
  5. Yeah you got an answer for the guy in China that stabbed 22 kids today as well? Its not the weapon its the person that decides to wake up hating the world and thinks its perfectly ok to massacre a large number of people. History proves that if you take guns away that it makes it easier to controll people or did everyone forget how easy it was for the mass murder of about 6 million jews.
  6. Then sell them some junked out F-4's and then they both can have some compatability.
  7. Anyone would be honored to meet someone like that. I was lucky to get to meet a member of the "Band of Brothers" 2bn 506th inf. a few years back. He wasn't one of those in the book or the movie but he was in the company. I also served in the 101st but at a much later time of course so we got our picture taken together at our Club meeting after the talk Mr Ed Mauser gave us about his experiances. He did last year and no one knew that he was seriously ill himself.
  8. Just a quick note on why the M-4/M-16s appear to be shiny to some. When they are new the Black plastic on them out of the box isn't all that glossy looking . In fact it's a very flat black for the stock and a semi flat black for the fore arms. They get shiny after a period of time due to wear and constant handeling buy the troops. I agree the new Army pattern sucks but then again the Army has never had a great pattern to use for many years for every enviroment. When I joined they still had the old OD-107 uniforms like you see in the movie "Stripes". Nice for duty in the rear but they sucked
  9. I'm not sure but we do have a Vulcan here in the US and they may have kept the engines from that one.
  10. Wasn't that the same reason they gave for modifying the L-1011's and the Pegasus rocket?
  11. Mine is easy for those that remember 80's TV. The avatar is the emblem for Airwolf and the name is from the show as well. Michial Coldsmith Briggs III the man responsable for heading the development of Airwolf was also known by the name "Archangel" during the shows run. http://images.wikia.com/airwolf/images/e/ec/Alex-cord-as-michael-coldsmith-briggs-iii-in-airwolf.jpg
  12. Today there was a report on Foxnews.com that they drilled a hole down into where the Spits are located and they sent a camera down to look around. They report that the crates the Spitfires were buried in appear to be in good condition. No information on how soon they will be diging them up.
  13. Back in 1984 and part of 1985 I was stationed on a I am a spammer....please report this post. Hercules missile site run by the Italian Air Force. The reason I was there was to stand guard on the hardstand while the American Techs help with the maintanace of the missiles. Part of that maintanace was also for the nuclear warheads attached to those missiles. We,the USA owned the warheadds so we of course had to stand guard on them 24/7. I was at a site called Zelo named after the town about a mile and a half down the road to the north. They closed the site down in 87 and I did get a few pictures
  14. Here is a link to an episode of Airwolf that used footage from "The Hunters" and "Skyjacked". And in an interesting twist the plot from that episode where Airwolf falls out of a transport plane was used later in the James Bond movie "Die Another Day" when James and Jinx escape in a helicopter from the back of a Russian cargo plane in a Huges 500D
