Boomstick, if you are planning on doing Olds jet in flight on Jan 2, 1967 for Bolo using the Tamiya 1/32 kit you are going to have to do some conversion. OOB you can’t do his jet. You will have to rework the radome as his jet on that day did not have the under radome pod. Most of the C models that flew that day had a “dorkless” radome. Also you need to make sure that the tanks and such are right. Fuel tank on far left wing, 2 AIM-9Bs on inner pylons, centerline fuel tank and the ECM pod on outer right wing pylon. Gentlemen, Pardon me if this has been discussed before but I'm hopeful that you guys can help me out. I'm in the process of researching Operation Bolo for a possible future project, and what I'm finding is that there is a dearth of good details. Unfortunately it appears that there wasn't a lot of photos taken on the day of the operation. I guess my OCD nature and my Modelers AMS syndrome is kicking in. Doesn't the guy or guys who run KH post on here? I was so excited for this kit, probably more than any other kit in a long time but , WOW! So far this thing really looks bad. I can't believe the quality of the plastic that is being released. I wonder how this kit would work being combined with either the Koster vac kit or the C&H resin sets. Of course for the money I guess you're still better off with using the Monogram kit. So far the only thing I can see going for this kit is recessed panel lines. I'm wanting to build an early USAF F-4C in 1/48 I would prefer it to have engraved lines. I'm figuring I'm going to need to bash the Hasegawa J model but not sure what is needed. I'm really wanting to do some early F-4H1 or the F-110 and I wish I hadn't waited too late to try to get the Cutting Edge conversion sets but that's a whole different I should be building a model!. So anyways, any help is appreciated. Dave

This may be a little premature but looking at the spues from Lucky Model these 2 kits look like real winners. What is pretty cool is that you can build the GAU-8A gun. I can already think of some great superdetailed possibilites. Of course the proof will be in the build. Since they're downsized Trumperter kits it will be interesting to see if they corrected some of the problems of the larger kits such as the canopy. Anyway I think that each of these kits will be entering my stash. Dave

To everyone who responded earlier to my question concerning bashing an accurate F4U-4, thanks. After looking at all my kits and aftermarket today I think I have come up with a plan. To do a nicely detailed -4 I will use the CMK kit with the Tamiya. Should build up fairly nice without too much rescribing. As long as you stick to a plain -4 no real problems. You can do -4B but this would require rescribing the wings for the proper ammo panels and ejector chutes plus you can't use the zero length rocket stubs that come with the Tamiya kit. The B model launcher stubs would have to be acquire
