  1. Very nice! The panel lines & weathering look great, especially for a kit in that scale.
  2. Hello All-- I managed to finish the 3 Tiger Squadron Vipers I was working on simultaneously (seemed like a good idea at the time). Standard caveat for poor photography applies! They are: Hobby Boss F-16A (338 Sq, Norway), Revell F-16B (313 Sq, Netherlands), and Revell F-16 MLU (31 Sq, Belgium). All in 1/72 scale.
  3. Greetings! After years of lurking on this forum admiring everyone's work, I figure it's time to make a contribution...this is the sixth model I've built since picking up the hobby, and the first one I'm happy enough with to share the results here. The kit definitely has some inaccuracies (navigation light housings, exhaust nozzles) but overall I think it came together well and looks enough like an F-16. Of course, I broke off the pitot tube while trying to photograph it! I had to make a few modifications to more accurately represent the Norwegian 338 Squadron machine that wore this sch
  4. Very, very nice pics...thanks for sharing!
  5. That statement also struck me as odd. I'd never heard that before, and since I fly on the E-3 for a living I felt like I should've known if that was the case. I've been up in the flight deck for numerous takeoffs and I never remembered "rotodome canted forward six degrees" as a checklist item. Just to be sure, I dragged out the T.O. and talked to a couple of pilots & engineers around the Sq, all of whom confirmed that the six degree forward tilt is not true. The only movement of the dome is its rotation on the pylon (azimuth scan). I also found the "six degree" statement--without any
  6. Ditto, Gary--I'm digging this outpouring of E-3 photos! I've always found the E-3D's dual AR-configuration interesting...now, though not yet operational, a "bolt-on" probe system is being tested/demonstrated on F-16's: http://www.f-16.net/gallery_item405276.html
  7. Very cool idea and nicely synched to the music! Not sure why but I think the brief shot of the A-10 and F-86 together is my favorite part...
  8. Once again, nice pics to open up an interesting topic Kevan! My contributions: Transient Transall in Goose Bay, Canada on a wet & windy October morning... French AF Transall at Maple Flag 2006 Open House...RAF E-3D in background carries 8 SQN 90th anniversary marks...
  9. BTW, that is the correct usage of the epithet "MotherTinker"...
  10. Nice--an AWACS thread! Cool pics, Kevan--thanks for starting it off! Here's some from the Tinker AFB airshow in July 2007 (scanned from 35mm prints)...
  11. Great stuff there--thanks! The information booklet mentions Advanced Hawkeye's ability to "exploit...F-18/Active Electronically Scanned Array warfighting effectiveness" resulting in "600% improvement in F-18/AESA kills." I wonder if that estimate is purely a function of the increased detection volume (compared to E-2C), or if there are other capabilities in play... By the way, no problem with either link.
  12. Yeah, I'd heard that some ANG Viper units were undergoing a Flair Improvement Program...apparently, 15 pieces is the "minimum" loadout, but some aircraft have been known to carry up to 37...
  13. Eagle 21, A similar incident occurred in 2004 to the commander of the 1st Fighter Squadron at Tyndall AFB...part of his harness detached during ACM, became lodged in an ejection handle--as he turned himself to look behind during the fight, simultaneously pulling the stick back, enough tension was put on the handle to cause an unintentional ejection. If I remember correctly, he was OK...the F-15 flew on for a couple minutes before crashing just offshore. Chigger
  14. The mighty E-3--star of any airshow! Very cool photos... Chigger
