  1. Completed at last. The kit is the 1/72 Revell (Monogram) F105 D, circa 1988, and the resin spine is from Airwaves. The paint came from the Xtra-acrylics range and the decals were from various sources.
  2. I haven't seen the set in question, but the F4 J cockpit, particularly in the rear section, was quite different from the FGR2. The main difference was that the right side of the RIO's position in the 'J' lacked a side console - circuit breakers only. Whereas the FGR2 was similar to the F4 C/D cockpits ie. with a side console containing various switches and dials. A good reference is Verlinden's Lock - On book, 'British Phantoms' - A good comparison can be made between the cockpit shots of both the FGR2 and the F4 J (UK). Andrew
  3. I should have mentioned in my last post that this was the Airfix 1/72 Harrier GR1 -
  4. The original Airfix Harrier GR1 kit included these stores. Andrew
  5. This, according to Anthony Thornborough's 'The Phantom Story', contained 'flash units [which were]...built into modified 'greenhouse' outboard fuel tanks'. Although, as Andre has pointed out, this was normally carried on the port side, I do have recollections of seeing a photo of a TWO squadron ac carrying it on the 'other side'. I do have a picture of XV470 carrying these modified tanks on both wings. Another store that was carried during this period was the Lepus flare. This was used to illuminate targets - now
  6. Tom, I did this a couple of years ago utilising the Revell F6 (1/72) and the Aeroclub T7 conversion set. The jet pipe area was modified from the old Airfix FGA9. Andrew
  7. Thanks for the reply Graham. Your photo's would be greatly appreciated. I am intending to do it in 'spiker' configuration ie. pave spike on the port inboard pylon, ALQ 101 port outer, slipper tank and AIM 9B st'bd outer. I have the Check Six decals which are okay, although the nose cheveron will need to be replaced (far too short). regards, Andrew
  8. Hi, I am intending to make a 16 squadron Buccaneer (Airfix 1/48), however there seems to be very little in the way of photographs of this particular unit. Does anyone have any static shots etc. (Greenham IAT '83 - XW543 'Z') which they would be willing to scan for me. Any help would be appreciated. regards, Andrew
  9. Hi Shaun, The main airframe / wing tips were painted in Xtracolour's WW 1 German underside blue (X243). The stabilators and radome were painted in the 'correct' barley (camouflage) grey (X017). The inside areas of the wings were painted medium sea grey (X003) and the undersurfaces were sprayed light aircraft grey (X015). Moving onto the decals - Modeldecal, Yellowhammer and custom made (crew names and 439 CAF zap on port air intake). The aircraft's serial should be the revised / standard RAF style and will be corrected using the old Fujimi Phantom 'F3' kit decal sheet. Regards And
  10. The FG1 and FGR2 are both Fujimi (1/72). The F4J (UK) is Hasegawa (1/72).
