modern military aircraft (F-117, F-22A, SU-3X varients), airshows, modelling (just a beginner, though), military history, weather/storm chasing, and NASCAR
  1. Very, very sad indeed...the F-117 will always be one of my favorite aircraft. I saw the photo of the bulldozing on another aviation forum and folks there were posting stuff like 'good riddance', etc...truly saddening.
  2. Tell me about it! I did a research project on the SU family and was overwhelmed at the number of varients. I love anything Flanker, but you think there could be a simpler way of designation...like blocks?! I agree, I never complained about F-16 designations after that. Gorgeous photo, BTW.
  3. Ah, when exactly was the last Viper crash at Mtn Home (389th...NOT the T-Birds crash)? Now, Luke AFB Vipers seemed more accident-prone. I have nothing against the Strike Eagles, but working with the Viper guys was something special.
  4. Now THERE'S a sight! Still haven't gotten used to there being no Vipers around.
  5. :( Geez, this has been one HORRIBLE week! :(
  6. From what I've learned in my GCI controller training... FOX1: Semi active radar missile/AIM-7 FOX2: IR missile/AIM-9 FOX3: Active radar missile/AIM-120 I've never heard a 'guns' call being referred with a FOX designation.
  7. Ouch! Our Mtn. Home Vipers...sad to see them go.
  8. Beautiful video there. But WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot with the comments (about the F-117)?!
  9. Those are incredible shots! Thanks for sharing Code20photog.
  10. That's exactly how they do it...watched it myself while helping set up for the 2002 show. It's probably one of the more 'unique' things that you would see at an air show. Another interesting thing I've seen at past Tyndall shows was the MiG 23 and 29 static displays (they are not airworthy, though).
  11. But of course, they did not let him see the J-11 or the SU-30MKK, which are more capable and deadly than the SU-27. And they claim that the SU-27 is 'the top of the food chain'? Oh boy...
  12. Man, that Raptor demo looked awesome! Now, I'm regretting that I was not there. Rocky, that first photo of the Blues is awesome! And, so are the rest of the pics. That Raptor demo may have been 'limited', but looked much better than the one I saw at Hill last June. He was so far away that I could barely see him.
  13. Thanks for posting those, logo! It's very interesting because I don't think I've ever seen pics of Iraqi jets so detailed prior to Desert Storm.
  14. All of those are not working, logo...just get red 'X's instead of images. Would really like to see pics, out of curiosity's sake.
